Eat here 5 days out of our 2 week stay, which says it all. Agree with all the other reviewers, wonderful food and made to feel very welcome, a credit to the family who run it. We also spent a few days on the beach and hired sunbeds and umbrella from them, the views are amazing across to turkey. Just chilled all day had lunch and a few glasses of wine, what more could you ask for.

A realy good taverna, right on the water's edge overlooking Turkey. The food is traditional Greek and the fish is always fresh,It is patronised by the locals - always a good sign. It is family run and a lot of the vegetables are grown in the allotment next door.Manolis, the owner's son,is very friendly and always remembers us.His mum does some of the cooking and we have yet to have a bad meal. We normally have friends with us so we have a meze which is always good value.

mavromatis (dark eyes) is a lovely place to eat and is run by a very nice family. Manolis (son) has the most infectious smile and always asks us if we'd like vitamins (wine). We always make up our own meze by choosing a few of the starters rather than the typlical british way of starters, main meal, sweet. This way, you can try some things you wouldn't normally order perhaps and if you're sharing, it's not too much as the portion sizes are generous.

On every trip to Kos so far (maybe 8 or 9 now), our first night is ALWAYS at mavromatis and the family always remember us with big hugs and kisses - they must see hundreds of people over the years but always make you feel as you're special

The food is good and reasonably priced and just sitting on the beach with a glass of wine in your hand watching the lights come on over in Turkey and listening to the sea - what more could you ask for!

Fabulous!
