Mitsis Ramira Beach Hotel
Ranked #5 of 19 Hotels in Psalidi
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 4, 2011

Just got back from a week at the Ramira Beach Hotel. Booked last minute the week before we went. I read the reviews and was really looking forward to it and I wasn't disappointed. The only hiccup was on checking in and our room wasn't ready for 2 hours, which meant we had to wait until 1.00 am, but we just sat in the bar and had a few cocktails.

Room - this was excellent, really modern, with a separate room with 2 more beds and a balcony. The balcony overlooked the main pool. Bathroom was really nice, the only downside being you had to hold the shower to take a shower as there was no hook for it. The room had a fridge which was stocked with drinks every 2 days (part of the all inclusive, and which was really welcome).

Food - the food was excellent at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff work really hard, everything is well stocked and replenished. There is just so much to choose from, even the pickiest of eaters would be able to find something. If you didn't want to eat lunch in the main dining room, there was a beach bar which served gyros, salads etc and drinks which were all really good. I definitely need to diet now!!

Pool - nice sized pool with salt water (which my son wasn't keen on). But it was fine for us. Drinks and snacks available from the pool bar. The sunbed wars were quite entertaining, you had to get up quite early to bag a sunbed. There are a lot of grassy areas around the pool and it would have been good to have more sunbeds available to use on the grass. I did see the pool staff remove some towels from beds which had been reserved early!! There is also a children's pool but we didn't use this.

Beach - this is very stony but there are beach shoes available to buy at the hotel shop if you don't have any. The sunbeds are nice with shades over them. The beach area did look a little bit rough.

Entertainment - there was plenty of activities for all if you wanted to get involved. We didn't really use any of the activities so can't really comment but it seemed well organised. The evening entertainment didn't seem that good, in particular the karaoke but that was probably the people who think they can sing but can't :)

There is a bus stop right outside the hotel where you can get the bus into Kos Town, cost is 1.50 euros and takes about 10 mins. They run every 15 minutes.

Overall this was an excellent holiday and I would definitely go back. The staff are very friendly and work very hard and long hours.

This hotel is not 5* by any means but this is what we expected and we had no complaints about the facilities only a few minor irritations with some staff members, which I will cover under restaurants and bars.

Room was modern, clean, a decent size, with 2 single beds pushed together and it had a balcony overlooking the main pool – which was a good vantage point to watch some of the bizarre evening entertainment. Very good daily maid service, clean towels every day and the mini bar refreshed every 2 days. Air conditioning was absolutely necessary and it worked fine.

Only used the main pool which is salt water, it is very deep and only has one set of wide steps that can be used by the less able – my wife is on crutches but can swim and did so. We chose to do this early morning to avoid the understandably boisterous pool activities of some of the younger guests. Poolside surroundings got very slippery and quite difficult to negotiate around the sun loungers for a disabled person.

Sun lounger reservations were made very early in the mornings by quite a few guests. This was despite the multi lingual warnings in the information pack found in the room that towels would be removed. Only on one morning did we witness this de-reservation process in operation. It proved to be quite entertaining when the towel owners returned to find their reservations had been cancelled and new occupants in situ!

We did not use the beach facilities ( apart from the bar ) as the surface was a rough mixture of sand and pebbles so not suitable for my Wife’s mobility problems. I walked the beach most days and it was packed – I guess sun lounger/cabana reservations were being made in the time honoured method involving towels, inflatables and beach bags.

The main restaurant is excellent for mass catering on this level. There was plenty of choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lots of fresh salads, fruit and a vast selection of hot fare including local dishes of fish, souvlaki etc.

We booked both the Chinese and Italian sections ( as they are just small annexes at the rear of the main restaurant. The Chinese was disappointing, I had overcooked spring rolls followed by very dry Peking duck and pancakes – may just be a style difference to the UK as there were no spring onions or cucumber with the dish. The Italian restaurant was the better of the 2. Service in the main restaurant was mainly very good, the maître d was excellent and there were plenty of staff who were all ( well mainly all ) very friendly and efficient. We had one very rude girl that served us one night who totally ignored my wife when she asked us for our drinks orders and brought her just water. This was pointed out to her, but she did nothing to repair the situation and just ignored us. My wife complained to the Maître d who very quickly moved us with extreme good grace to another table.

One last thing on the restaurant – it states that shorts and T shirts are not considered to be appropriate evening wear in the hotel and restaurant areas. This rule was clearly not adhered to by the majority of the guests and was not in any way enforced by the staff.

Service at the ‘Snow White’ bar in the evenings was by far the slowest and poorest on the site. In fact it proved to be much quicker to go to the main pool bar and get our own after dinner drinks.

Lunch was taken mainly at the beach bar, where the food was simple but good – Gyros, burgers in pitta, mixed grill, Greek salad, and fruit. The cold beers here were the best on the complex and served in mugs taken straight from the freezer. Service here was very good and efficient.

The bus service to/from Kos town is excellent and costs €1.60 when purchased on the bus or €1.50 from the kiosk by the bus stop in Kos Town. Be aware that we found you can’t use cash on the return journey, the drivers only take tickets bought from the kiosk.

Kos Town is well worth a visit and has lots of restaurants and bars. The quayside is stacked with trip boats. We took a day tour to Bodrum, organised through Noel at the hotel – he seems to be the Med Hotel rep. I would not do this trip again as the coach trip that followed the arrival was really a waste of time. It ended in a tour around a gold factory, which was not mentioned in the trip agenda! I would however recommend a day in Bodrum but book the boat directly at the harbour. It is a nice town, very clean and lots of interesting shops to visit and restaurants to take a slow lunch at. The level of hassle from shop keepers was very low, which was a nice surprise.

Overall the holiday exceeded our expectations and we will go back, but maybe stay closer to Kos town and ‘self cater’ as the choice of restaurants in Kos is vast and the town very pleasant especially at night.

This hotel has everything you need for a great holiday but is made even better by it's lovely staff. From the friendly efficient receptionists, smiling bar staff, child friendly restaurant waiters and waitresses to the hard working smiling maids. Try the Italian and Chinese resteraunts for a change of scene, waiter service and really good food.
Kos town at night is cooler and lively.

Room Tip: Rooms at small pool chess bar, quiet with beautiful views.

Just returned from the Ramira Beach and have had a fab time. We didnt have very high expectations as we have been all-inc in Greece before and it wasnt too good! However this hotel proves to be the exception to the rule.
We had booked a "promo" room and this was more than adequate. In the main hotel Block, it had a fridge which was topped up regularly. It was spotlessly clean with fresh towels daily and the air-con worked. It wasnt 5* but it was a good 3*.
The main restaurant was good with an excellent choice at all meals. You were shown to your table which was always cleaned from the previous diners and bought carafes of your chosen drinks i.e. Wine, Beer or Water. I have never seen such a well staffed hotel restaurant. There was never any dirty plates left on your table between courses.
We ate at the Italian and chinese restaurants a couple of times and they were good too and made a nice change.
The Hotel was full during our stay but we still found it to work very well and the Staff were marvellous. Particular mention to Pavlina at the Beach Bar who worked non-stop everyday and still had time for a smile and chat.
Had a wonderful time at the Ramira Beach and would recommend it to any and everyone.
Cant wait to return!!

My family and I have just returned from a two week stay at The Ramira Beach Hotel.
On first impressions I was very impressed. The lobby was plush with friendly helpful reception staff. A porter took us to our family room on the first floor which was newly refurbished and spotlessly clean.
We went for our evening meal where there was a good selection of foods. There's a lovely lady calle Efi who does pancakes in shapes of Minnie Mouse, love hearts etc..she always had a smile and a lovely welcome. There was a lovely lovely waitress her name was Micaelista - (sorry hope I spelt this right) she couldn't do enough.
There are two pools, both salty, the large one has no shallow end which I didn't like, but there is a smaller pool.
Most of the staff are very friendly and not at all pervy as one of the reviewers said, there were no signs of any creepy crawlies in our rooms, maybe one or two on the balcony, but surely that's to be expexcted in such a hot country??
On the whole a great value, spotlessly clean hotel which Aggie would be proud of.

We had a fantastic holiday at thishotel, the staff are so helpful always smiling and cant do enough for you,a special mention to Nikos the hotel manager who works so hard round the clock and seems to be everywhere and always has time to say hello and make you feel welcome he sets a great example to all the staff
The restuarant is very good and we found the food also very good, always a good selection and good quality the staff in the restuarant are fantastic from the time you arrive to the time you leave.
The room was cleaned ever yday and the mini bar filled every other day with beer, pepsi, sprite, water etc , the bathroom was good with a good powerful shower we had a beautiful sea view and could clearly see Turkey from our balconey.
The beach bar is great for a snack serving gyros, salads, burgers, and pitta wraps, etc.
I loved the beer at the beach bar its always served in proper glasses and the barman keeps the glasses in the freezer so the beer is extra cold!!
Kos town is a short journey on a bus and costs about 1 euro and 60 cents the buses every 30 minutes, we also hired some bikes from outside the hotel some are fitted with kiddies seats, and there is a safe bike path to cycle into town this was great fun.
All in all we had a great relaxing time at this hotel and i would reccomend it to anyone
