We booked this hotel quite last minute for a great price and we couldn't have been more delighted. We stayed for 11 nights and had a wonderful, relaxing time. Our room was spacious, had a nice balcony and the bathroom had a great, powerful shower and bath. The room was cleaned everyday to a high standard by the friendliest housekeeping staff.
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, really well looked after with lovely flowers all around. The architecture is gorgeous, minimal and stylish. You can tell the owners take real pride in their hotel.
The food was amazing, we really love our food and eating out so we were slightly worried about booking half board for our entire stay. We needn't have worried - the food was superb. For breakfast they had a variety of fresh fruits, a whole selection of cakes and biscuits, traditional Kos dishes, a huge hot buffet selection, cereals, nuts, dried fruits and a counter where you could order freshly made pancakes, crepes, waffles and more. Dinner was spectacular...everyday you had a range of hot dishes which were all flavoursome and delicious. Again you also had a counter which would serve joints of meats, fresh fish, Greek BBQ meats - tender and so well cooked. As well as this you had a large selection of fresh salad items, appetisers and a very appealing dessert selection. Credit to the chef - the food was the best we've eaten in Greece and probably the U.K and we didn't feel the need to eat anywhere else.
The hotel has two very large swimming pools and one has a jacuzzi built in. The entertainment team are great. Olga and George are both lovely, enthusiastic and friendly. You could tell they genuinely love their job and getting to know the guests. Activities included stretch, aqua gym, water polo, mini golf and darts. It's a great way to mix with other guests and keep active. Each evening the hotel put on entertainment which was a nice surprise. Different musicians came to perform, there were discos, quizzes and bingo - something for everyone.
The location is great too, with Kos town being a 25 minute stroll away. We recommend stopping at 'Special' which sells the best Gelato on the island! You won't miss it as it's always busy. The beaches directly outside the hotel aren't great but a walk/bike ride/bus ride or taxi can take you to some nicer places. We recommend hiring a car for the day and visiting Zia and Cavo Paradiso - both unbelievably beautiful.
Lastly I think all the staff at the hotel should get a special mention - those on reception, the manager, the chefs, the waiters, the ladies at the pool bar, the housekeepers and the entertainers - everyone helped make our stay in Kos perfect and were all so welcoming. We will definitely be returning - this time with a baby and not a bump!

This was our first visit to Kos and after much research, and on reading outstanding reviews we booked our stay at the Platanista Hotel. We were after a restful week with good food in a clean hotel and on each count you surpassed our expectations. The Hotel itself is a short walk outside Kos which we thoroughly enjoyed on a regular basis day and night. We also walked to the therma beach(although this is a trek for most, and I might add we go on 94 mile walking holidays!)
We cannot fault the Hotel.Excellent facilities, food varied and plentiful both at breakfast and dinner.
Olga and George the entertainment crew were good but didn't badger you all the time which made us feel more up to participating.
What makes us give the Platanista 5* are the wonderful staff, attentative, happy, helpful, courteous, and prepared to go the extra mile.A big thankyou to Maitre D Stamatis and your team they are a credit to you.And a big thankyou to the maids and front of house staff who equally do a grand job.
We would have no hesitations in reccomending the Platanista.Relax or Mix with other geusts, chill on a sunbed, walk or hire a bike the choice is yours but guarantee you will have a wonderful holiday."YAMAS"

Just returned from 1 week in Hotel Platanista, Kos. We cannot say enough about the wonderful hospitality, service, food, amenities of this amazing hotel. Without exception, all the staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. A special mention for Demitrius (lobby bar). He is a great barman and we had good fun there nightly. The quality and choice of food was excellent. Would definitely choose to return to this hotel when in Kos.

Stayed at the Platanista May 2017. Paradise! wonderful room, spotlessly clean and spacious, ground floor terrace leading out to lush gardens and one of the two pools. The poolside tavern was only steps away, serving great food home cooked by Marina and perfect for those lazy days when lounging around the pool and reading was all I wanted to do. I cannot mention the taverna without
introducing Thalia- she is so laid back ,lovely and helpful, she has become my friend for life! Speak to her about tips for what to do in Kos. And get her to sing! What a joy too to be able to have breakfast out on the terrace- sunshine, birdsong and such obliging waiting staff. Special mention should go to the Maitre 'D Stamatis- quite a character, charming, debonair and very efficient (and funny!)He ensured everything ran very smoothly. The dining room can get busy but we went early in the season and it was perfect. We had booked on a bed and breakfast basis as we like to explore in the evenings, but we ended up eating dinner at the hotel three nights because the food was so good; freshly cooked and plenty of choice.
Mention too should go to Maria, who never stops smiling, and Olga from the animation team who showed boundless but never irritating enthusiasm.
The only drawback about the hotel is its location on the outskirts of town. The local bus service did not prove to be as reliable as we had hoped-often sailing past full- but taxis are easy to come by- 8 euros- and you can walk the half hour into town.
I would recommend booking onto an island tour. We booked with an agency in Kos town (on the same street as McDonalds) It was fantastic! We got the equivalent of a blue badge guide who was so knowledgeable and entertaining. the Asklepion - site of the first ever hospital- was marvellous and we learned so much going with a guide.
Overall, a great hotel, lovely people and just the relaxing break I needed. I will definitely be back.

Room tip: We asked for ground floor rooms with a nice view and that's exactly what we got- thanks. Worth noting your preferences to reception.

Took a gamble on this hotel as my wife and I needed a break at short notice. What a lucky break! The hotel is located 3kms out of Kos town in a quiet location. Like most hotels in this part of Kos it is no good if you want a beach break. We booked the mid-range room which was ok and asked to see the Deluxe upgrade room. So much better and just 20 euros a night extra when booked at the hotel. All rooms are in blocks around the grounds with 2 good size pools and pleasant gardens. Food was great: buffet breakfast with big choice, a good lunchtime snack bar and big buffets at night if you go half board (well worth it). There are a few tavernas within walking distance if preferred. Kos town is 25 mins walk or bike hire for 5 euro a day gets you there in 5 mins.
Highlights: Very clean, recently refurbished: The deluxe rooms are in a new block 3 years old, very modern and spacious. Enormous lunches at the snack bar. Huge choice in the evening buffet. Special mention for Dimitris, the lobby barman. Great entertainment crew, lovely ladies at the snack bar.
We never go back to the same place twice but this time we'll make the exception and will be going back at the end of the season. Best times to avoid the crowds, May or late September - great weather and low prices. Other guests mainly Dutch, Brits and Germans - a good balance, mostly middle age looking for some P & Q. Recommended!

Room tip: Book standard, upgrade to Deluxe at the hotel.
