Fourth year staying at the Platanista, still excellent although this year was a little different, I broke my ankle in three places not at the hotel but on the road leading to the beach.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful, they even drove me to hospital, they provided wheelchair and we never had to wait for a table in the evenings.
Staff brilliant, friendly and accommodating. The Platanista is not large built in the Moorish style in blocks which are attractive, lovely gardens well kept pools and good bars, prices we reckoned were about the same as last year.
The Platanista has a small private beach with plenty of sun loungers 5 euros a day, it is luckily outside Kos town but there is an excellent bus service, also plenty of cycle hire.
Plenty of goood food withn a large variety at all meals, service is excllent even though it is all buffet style, quality excellent.Weather superb as always with a sea breeze.
Ther only drawback is Kos airport small overcrowded and busy.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floors of the blocks better, althouth this is not a noisy hotel

Hotel was excellent with the food being varied and waiter service was excellent . What amazed me most was that the hotel ( heavily weighted with German sausage eaters ) and specifically the pool didnt have a towel war and beds were readily available .

We booked a superior room but it was no different to the standard rooms so i would tend to save your money , clean and tidy , the guy that showed us to our room laughed when we suggested we might have a sea view .
overall though very good

1 of best family stays ever. Travel a lot, have seen many hotels and must say Platanista is perfect for a family holiday, well organised with good quality food, service and entertainment. Bonus was that people behaved during dinner. They didn't loaded their plate huge, were polite and finished most of it. The girls liked it a lot, so it was a good relaxing holiday for dad. :-) Had lots of fun around the pool. Thx to the animation team Ryan, Martin and Ingrid. Food and service is Great with a big "G". Beach close by with a great restaurant w/sea view. Close to Kos-Town on biking distance. Just a hotel I would recommend and I consider going back next year. What else do we need?

Our first visit to Kos and the hotel was recommended by friends. We were not disappointed, a wonderful hotel, a lovely room, very clean with a good bathroom and plenty of storage. Spacious pool areas give a relaxed feel, with plenty of sunbeds.
Check in was quick and efficient and we were soon sat enjoying a drink at the bar on the terrace.
The food was so good with plenty of choice and the option to eat outside was always our favourite.
We must say a special thanks to the lovely staff at the hotel, the bar manager and particularly Pantelis, our wonderful waiter, very professional, so friendly and helpful.
A local bus service at the bottom of the road gives easy access to Kos Town or a lovely stroll along the front past the Marina, unless you enjoy a bike ride.

Just returned from hotel platanista. A nice hotel which is spotless with lovely food. There was always a good range of food at meal times. Spartak the barman was always friendly and very chatty. Rooms were spacious with everything you need.
There are 2 pools so i found that rhere were ways sunbeds when we wanted them. There were 1 or 2 gripes which i have written about below. we were placed in the wrong room and it did take over half a day to change rooms even though they said in an hour. I understand that they were very busy but should have been given correct timings. Also when spending only a week you want to be unpacked and sorted not hanging around. When this has happened before on a previous holiday they acted immediately. Staff at reception always helpful but feel that waiters/waitresses could improve. System for dinner not explained properly. Make sure you wait to be seated by restaurant manager and arrive near to 7 otherwise you may have to wait a while. Drinks are more expensive in hotel so wander to nearby tavernas like nostas or blue ocean. Lovely views of sea from there. Animation team ok but did not really have much to do with them. staff clearly work hard throughout the hotel.

Hotel has an Egyption look to it and is white washed to perfection..Lovely.
Hotel is very well run and the staff on Reception are very helpful and Professional.
You will have a very relaxed, organised feel to your holiday whilst staying here.
The Food was wonderful and enough choice to cater for all. If you want to eat outside on terrace
go early otherwise Dining room Manager has everybody waiting by bar area for him to show them to a table.
You have to pay 5 Euros for two sunbeds on the Hotel's little bit of beach..Naughty.
Internet access was 5 Euros for 90 minutes in Hotel but was free in Kos town square? This does not encourage one to stay in Hotel and consume their Food and Drink..when will these Hotel's wake up to this?
Also if their food and drink was more reasonably priced you would stay in hotel instead of walking to Tavern at the end of the road (which was fab and situated right on edge of beach/sea).
Overall nice hotel.

Room Tip: I paid extra for superior room. It had a side sea view and was quite lovely as watched ships coming...

We have just got back from a perfect holiday in kos and absolutely loved this hotel.
We didnt arrive at the hotel until 1am and was asked not to unpack as we would have to move rooms the next day, so after a lovely breakfast went to reception who told us we couldnt move rooms until 2pm. This wasnt so much of a problem as we were meeting family staying at a different hotel so off we went for the day. Once we arrived back we were given the keys to our new room and told our luggage had already been moved for us, the next day we were told by reception that we could keep our room on until 6pm on the day of our departure as an apology and also given a fruit basket with a bottle of red wine. We didnt expect this at all and more than made up for the mix up.
The location of the hotel is perfect, just far enough away from Kos Town and all the loud bars but close enough to walk round, there is a little shop just outside the hotel that you can hire bikes, buggies and quads etc. We hired the bikes one day which even though it was over 40 degrees was a fab way to see some of the island as the sea breeze made it perfect to cycle in. We also hired a buggy another day and took a day trip to Therems, Zia and Paradise Beach for 50 euros. We didnt catch the bus at all, we walked into Kos town most nights and got a taxi back for about 8 euros.
Food in the hotel was definately better than we expected with so much choice and was different every night, the waiters and waitresses remembered what our drinks were and the prices were very reasonable.
We didnt really have much to do with the animation team, on the first day when they came round asking for people to participate we just said no thank you and they didnt bother us again, we didnt find them agressive or rude at all, in fact after speaking to the Scottish one, who i have seen mentioned on here quite a bit, we found him very pleasant.
No matter what time of day we went round the pool there was plenty of sun beds spare, there was plenty of seats in the restaurants however if you arrive after 8pm and want to sit outside there is a short wait. The only slight thing that we could say that is bad about this hotel is you have to pay for the internet and also the price of the drinks in the mini bar are quite expensive, but just buy your own bottle of water and you wont need to use it :)
Would we go back to this hotel??? YES! Would we recommend this hotel to anybody, both couples and familys?? YES!!

Room Tip: Our room 412 was right next to the evening entertainment stage so if you go an plan on staying in ea...
