The excellent service and beauty of the Iberstar Grand Paraiso make this our favorite. From the time we arrived the service was just excellent from our Butler Miseal to our bag handler Oscar everyone was so great and helpful. The food was excellent and again the personnel was the best. See you next year!

The first property anywhere that I would give a full five stars, if I could give six, I would. Rooms and balcony extremely clean, period. The buffets and a la carte restos top notch. Beverage selection, excellent. You want a glass of red, and you have maybe 20 or 25 different ones to choose from. Beautiful gardens and pool areas. Real grass driving range. I will try to go golfing next time we go. Concierge staff, very helpful, thanks to Fanny in particular. No nickel and diming for the Wi-Fi accessible almost everywhere. We'll be back.

Room Tip: You like quiet, go for the south side overlooking the quiet pool area.

We just returned from a six-day trip to Iberostar Grand. It was better than I ever expected! From the moment I walked in, the staff took wonderful care of every need. We were greeted with champagne and then graciously upgraded to a honeymoon suite! Alicia at the front desk was wonderful. I've never been anywhere where the staff is so genuinely friendly and helpful. The buffets are delicious and you can essentially get any kind of drink you would ever want. And if you want activity, just ask Abraham or Eduardo -- they know how to get everyone to have a great time. It is absolutely paradise and I would go back in a heartbeat. Both of us have high-stress jobs... and for six-days, we enjoyed bliss... every thanks to the wonderful folks at Iberostar Grand. Beach was beautiful and the weather perfect in February (about 80 during the day, a bit chilly at night). This is not a crowded, loud resort full of drunken revelry... if you want that, this is not the place. We met folks from Canada, all over the US, and Europe-- all very nice.

Room Tip: Unless you plan on spending a large amount of time in the room, any room at the Grand is worth it! I...

We enjoyed 10 days at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso. This was a spluge for us. The food was amazing and the staff in the restaurants were very accomodating. I saw our "personal butler" only once during our stay, so that was not a perk in the least. The hotel itself was emaculate! I enjoyed the privacy and the adults-only atmosphere. Overall we had a great time, but for the money spent on this hotel, I expected way more pampering.

My husband and I have visited the Iberostar properties at Rose Hall in Jamaica. We’ve stayed at the Grand and the Suites at Rose Hall as well as having our wedding at the Beach property. So, we were both looking forward to a week's stay at the Grand Hotel Paraiso and while for the most part, we had a great time, there were some flaws, some hiccups and some other weird experiences....

Flaws, Hiccups, etc...
First, our initial room (7109) was a ground floor oceanfront room that was beautiful BUT...each morning at 6:00am..we were awakened by the horrible sound of furniture scraping across the marble floor. It was as if a moving crew was above us, beside us and in our room...MOVING FURNITURE ACROSS EVERY INCH OF THE ROOM. By the third morning of that...I WAS OVER IT! Second...the daily game of beach chair roullette is for the birds and guess what..you don't even realize you're playing it until you go to pick up water and come back to find the very chairs you thought were yours (because you placed a towel on it) are occupied by some not so very nice guests. Third, the butler service at this resort was virtually nonexistent...and housekeeping's hours were strange, too. Oh and not very many english TV channels if you're looking to stay on top of current events.

Good Stuff!!!
Now to the good stuff...the resort is beautiful. Its ornate (not sure how to describe the decor)...the rooms are big -- king beds with a clean well-appointed bathroom complete with a shower and soaking tub. The patios are large enough to be comfortable with a small table, lounge chair and swing for your enjoyment. The oceanfront rooms have beautiful views of a well-kept beach.

The staff is accommodating but some don't speak much English so there is a definite language barrier.

We thoroughly enjoyed the collection of restaurants..which are also offered at the Rose Hall property. We dined at all of the restaurants and loved the ambience and experiences each one offered. The Japanese was fun, the Gourmet was exciting (GET THE MEXICAN COFFEE), the Italian was very good with an amazing wait staff (shout out to Oscar and Julian) and the Surf n Turf has amazing lobster (so does the beachfront buffet!!!). All in all, we enjoyed ourselves.

The spa staff and the spa itself were both incredible. We enjoyed a couples beachside massage as well as an in spa massage. We also found the hot tub to be quite relaxing. The spa is by far, one of the resort's best kept secrets!!!

Weird Experiences
My love and I often felt like we were starring in a remake of Cocoon. It was clear that this resort is definitely a 55 and over crowd...which was cool but equally as odd. I found the parade of seniors entertaining and tiring at the same time. Honestly, I never felt so out of place in my life. It could be the fact that Iberostar is an expensive, upper echelon type of resort or the fact that it has a palatial golf course..not sure, but..if you're in your late 30s to mid 40s..you'll feel like a pre-teen among this resort's clientele. We're not a partying type of couple but, we enjoy conversations and seeing folks in our same age range...most of the folks we saw at this property could've easily been our parents or our grandparents. Guess it is what it is, but I wish someone would've warned us.

All in all, the Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso is a grand spot to visit!

Room Tip: Motion detecting lights will turn on or off if they think you've left your room. BEWARE...this...

Dear guest,

First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to give us your opinion about your last stay at the Iberostar Grand Paraiso.

We are happy to see that there are elements of the Iberostar Grand Paraiso that you quite enjoyed, however, we are very concerned to know that your experience did not live up to our usual level of service concerning the butler, because it is one of our strengths and normally people leave the hotel just adoring them. We apologize if we did not meet your expectations in that department and assure you it will not happen again.

We are very sorry about the furniture noise you had in the room at the beginning of your stay. Fortunately, we were able to solve it quickly. Regarding TV channels, we receive guests from all over the world that speak different languages and we would like to have choices for all of them, so we select the top ones. In addition, there is a pay-per-view program in each room and the concierge has a movie list to lend at any time.

In reference to the chairs on the beach, we are working to provide extra beach chairs and satisfy all of our guests’ needs.

Once again thank you for your feedback. It helps us tremendously to tackle areas of concern and be better day after day. It would be a pleasure for us to welcome you back and provide you with a great stay with improvements in our service.

Warm Regards,

Quality Manager

Ocean front room with butler service was the way to go. Beaches, pool, room, service and food were all very good although oddly the Mexican theme night at the Buffet was not good? Travelled extensively and this resort deserves its 5 star rating. If you want a quiet romantic getaway to rejuvenate your love for each other this is your resort

My husband and I love to travel and often rely on Trip Advisor reviews to determine where we’ll go on our next adventure. Although we have travelled extensively, we tend to be quite picky but realistic at the same time when it comes to all-inclusive resorts. I swear when my travel agent sees us coming, she starts to worry because she knows how picky we can be. However, after thoroughly enjoying our stay at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro last year, we decided to book the Iberostar Grand Paraiso for this year’s trip. To be honest, we never thought we’d ever find another resort with the quality and level of customer service like we had at the Grand Bavaro (it was outstanding)…but we did.
The transfer and check-in were wonderfully smooth and even though our room wasn’t ready upon arrival, within a half hour, we were being escorted to our room, with the bell hop pointing out various points of interest along the way. We had decided not to book an ocean view room (as we are rarely in our room) and we were very happy with our location. Our room was on the 2nd floor (7036) which is directly across from the indoor pool and beautiful lush gardens. It was a perfect location to spend some quiet time on the swing reading and enjoying my morning coffee (it’s quite private without a lot of foot traffic). The room itself was great, large bathroom with separate his/hers sinks and most important…a comfortable bed. The butler arrived within ½ hour to welcome us and see if there was anything special we’d like for our mini bar. My husband preferred a certain type of beer and within minutes, the butler arrived with a 6 pack. If you’d like anything in particular, in our case, we like having a bottle of wine in our room each night…all you had to do is ask.
POOL – lovely but cold. Unless there was an organized activity in the pool, you rarely saw more than 8 people in the main pool at any one time. Although people play the lounge game (reserving loungers early in the morning), there were always loungers available. The last day of our stay, we learned that the staff will often put out a couple of towels on the loungers in a “X” early in the morning but this doesn’t mean that they are reserved…they are there for you so you don’t have to go to the towel hut to get towels. So if see 2 rolled up towels on a lounger go ahead and feel free to use those lounges. All week we thought other guests had put them there, so no one bothered to sit there. The poolside service was wonderful and the waitresses were always around checking on your drinks. Late in the afternoon, they would often bring out a trolley with treats (cake, ice cream, etc) and tea and coffee which was a nice touch.
BEACH – was lovely but a little rocky. The water is a little on the rough side but the beach itself is well groomed. The lounge chairs are not on top of one another like you notice at the other resorts along the beach.
RESTAURANTS – whenever you go to any all-inclusive, it is always advisable to reserve your a la cartes restaurants asap and do it for the entire week. When it comes to the Grand, not every a la carte restaurant is open every night of the week and when they are open, there are specific seating times (like any all-inclusive restaurant). Keep in mind, you are not restricted to just the Grand restaurants, there are many other restaurants at the sister properties that you are more than welcome to book…just ask the concierge for the list of restaurants and their respective menus and they will be happy to book them for you. My husband and I were not that impressed with the food in general at the buffet or the a la cartes. Neither of us eats seafood or fish so I’m not sure if that was a major factor in our decision, but we just didn’t find the selection or the taste that great. However…the service at all the restaurants (including the buffet) was fantastic and we never went hungry (you have to try the Iberostar Club Sandwich from the room service menu at least once).
ENTERTAINMENT – this was one of the quieter resorts that we’ve been too but with that said, there was always something to do. The entertainment staff always had activities planned throughout the day if you wanted and of course, there is always the evening show. The entertainment staff was very friendly and would often pop into the lobby bar an hour before the 10pm show to mingle with the resort guests. The resort also has a wine tasting seminar, cocktail drink lessons, cooking demonstrations etc.
EXCURSIONS – this was our 3rd time to Mexico so we didn’t bother going on any excursions…except of course…shopping in Playa de Carman. Although there is a shopping centre in the Iberostar grounds, the prices in Playa are much better. If you plan on going into town, your best bet is to take the Iberostar shuttle which runs on a regular schedule daily (a few times a day). The cost of the shuttle is $10 (US)/person round trip. To get more information and specific times, talk to your rep at the Grand.
SISTER PROPERTIES – we always like to tour the other Iberostar resorts on the property and this trip was no exception. The sister properties are very different and it really makes you appreciate how much you appreciate the Grand and the all the staff who work there. Don’t get me wrong, the other properties are wonderful but Grand is spectacular.
CUSTOMER SERVICE – we can’t say enough about the staff at the Grand…their aim is to please you and every one of them seems to go above and beyond to accomplish this goal. Regardless who they are and what they do, you are always greeted with a smile and a warm “Hola”.
The staff is what sets this resort above and beyond many others and it’s because of that, we’ll likely return in the future.
