My wife and I extremely enjoyed our stay at this amazing hotel and resort. Check in is quick and informative and the buggies are really useful in transporting your baggage around this humongous site. Our room was amazing, kept spotless by the attentive staff and the free minibar was kept topped up daily, just one thing the air conditioner can be too effective, remember to turn it off before you go to sleep. Poolside service can be slow but it does arrive, much quicker to get your drinks yourself. The many restaurants are well spread across the resort and offer a wide variety of different foods portions are small but the food is amazing and tasty. As vegetarians the options were limited slightly and some of the staff did struggle to understand the concept but were very attentive to our needs. It is well worth booking into the al a carte restaurants but the show cooking restaurant is definitely for enthusiasts. Covered beds by the pool and on the beach do go very quick so it is advised to get up early and reserve these if you need any shade during the day. Buffet breakfast in the restaurants within the main complex are well stocked and the staff are very helpful. We hope to go back to this hotel again and have recommended it to all of our family and friends.

July 20th-26 This Resort is beautiful.ALL the staff is always very friendly and helpful. We all had a very relaxing enjoyable vacation for 6 days. Several of the couples stayed in the 800s (lower level, walk up rooms)one couple was in 726 and one was in 611. They are all great locations. The shuttle is always driving by and will get you and take you where ever you need to go. I had been at the Mexican restaurant and had to go back to my room to grab something, the shuttle guy waited for me to come back out and gave me a ride back ( so sweet). We all took $100 ones and tipped nicely! They do like that & we LOVE the service. Omar & Carlos, worked at Jojos and they were so helpful for our large group and we tipped them GOOD!! We loved all the food. Our ONLY complaint that we all wanted to say, was that we wished there were more places that we could just walk up and get food quickly as we are hanging out on the beach. Like grab a hamburger or chips. They have these things at Jojos and the pizzaria, but its an hour plus wait! They are great to bring you aps. and drinks while you wait :) But a quick meal would be great. ALL the restaurants are so good ( small portions, so order a few options). Thank God our travel agent made our reservations for us every night at 7 - it was perfect, we never had to wait!! Each building has its own concierge. Ours was Alejandra. She was SO GOOD to us!! Very helpful in letting us know all our options! Check in and check out went very fast! The rooms are amazing & very clean at all times. The beach is clean and clear, we swam every day at the beach (get there early for cabanas and chairs). The dance place was open until 2am and was so fun!!! We love this place and will go back SOON!!!

Room Tip: 600s 700s 800s were great buildings. No ocean views as there are to many beautiful palm trees. Each...

Great experience with this property - felt very safe. Service is a little slow, but no one is in a hurry, so it was fine. Portion sizes are small, but food is delicous.

Had an amazing experience with Beach Bum Travel's Nanda van Zwam!! She was absolutely great to work with and will use her again.

We really enjoyed are time at El Dorado Royale! We loved the pool area because they have a lot of palm trees to enjoy a nice nap under, or if you like the sun they have plenty of options without shade. The food was outstanding, and with 3 resorts all connected you always had lots of options. We plan on return again.

My husband & I were here in March 2014 & again in this past June for my husbands birthday. Check in went very smooth our room wasn't ready so went to Jo Jo's for lunch. We were greeted with great big smiles & hugs all the waiters remembered us from our last visit in March. Our room was great 606 very close to the pool. We meet our concierge Mauricio & Alejandra they were very helpful they are the best. Breakfast at Cocotal every morning was wonderful all the waiters Efain & Sammy are wonderful & especially hostess Marlet Gutierrez. Lunch at Jo Jo's every day was always wonderful. We love Eldorado Royal so much we are now Members & will be back March 2015 for 2 weeks. This resort is the best.

Every part of our two week stay was breathtaking. The hotel complex is enormous and I really don't think we saw it all. First week we were in the El Dorado and used the Fuentes pool. Lovely and clean with comfortable beds in the water. My only complaint here is that there was no seating in the shade, hammocks but no tables and chairs to just sit and read. Our bedroom was clean and large and very well fitted out, with everything we needed. Including a jacuzzi with bubble bath etc. towels were large and plentiful, there were even large bathrobes and slippers too.
The second week we bought into the Exotic traveller loyalty package and were upgraded to Cassitas wow!!! This was luxury beyond what I am used to. We had our own wonderful Butler ( Karen) who would do anything to make our stay enjoyable. Fruit and drinks in our room every day and room service ( all inclusive too) which meant we didn't have to leave the room. All in all a wonderful relaxing holiday and I definitely will be going back

Room Tip: If you can afford to upgrade to casitas go for it, it's wonderful

We recently celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary at the El Dorado Royale (July 22-27). It was delightful and even better than expected. It is a very large property with actually two separate resorts: El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Casitas. We stayed at El Dorado Royale but when we return (which we will), we will prefer to stay in the Casitas. The staff were very hospitable and friendly, the food was incredible and the amenities were beautiful. The entire grounds are spotless and we never encountered a single insect, even an ant!

Here is a summary of our review:

PROS:
• Room: We had a luxury jacuzzi suite on the second floor of building 7. I am glad we did not pay to upgrade to the swim-up suites because we enjoyed the privacy and location away from the pools. It was close enough to walk to the pools and most restaurants. The room itself was quite large and comfortable. We never had issues with bugs, the air conditioning or the water temperature. The jacuzzi was very nice. Our housekeeper, Alma, kept our room very clean each day. She left us a beautiful towel figurine which we enjoyed for the rest of our stay.
• Pools: There were many pools to choose from. We required shade and wanted it to be a bit more quieter, so we chose to hang out at the Fuentes pool each day. We never had a problem reserving a covered canopy lounge bed.
• Beaches: Better at El Dorado Royale than in front of the Casitas. We actually liked all the manmade sand/concrete bunkers they have placed to help with the conservation of their sand. It was very comfortable to just hang out waist or shoulder deep in the water for an hour or so.
• Food: Incredible!!! We were totally blown away by the quality of the food at all of the restaurants. We learned from other Trip Advisor posts that reservations are required for the Fuentes and Santa Fe Grill. So we booked our reservation at the Santa Fe Grill with our personal concierge right away and were able to get it on our last night. For breakfast, we ate at both the Cocotal & La Isla restaurants. The Cocotal offers both a buffet & menu. We actually preferred eating at La Isla and our servers were all wonderful. For lunch, we ate at Jo Jo's, the pizzeria and La Isla. For dinner, the food was so delicious and continued to be even more so with each restaurant. We ate at Jo Jo's the first night (shout out to Omar - great server), Rincon (fabulous salmon crusted with pumpkin seeds), Kampai (OMG - love their food!), D'Italia in the Casitas and finally Santa Fe Grill (OMG - OMG!).
• Bars: Our favorite swim-up bar was the Pericos (Casitas section) with Julio as our bartender. We frequently spent the late afternoon there. Julio took very good care of us! We also enjoyed the Bellini Bar (Casitas) and the Martini Bar - both with excellent servers.
• Nightlife: We enjoyed the Michael Jackson Revue, the Circus and the Comedy/Magic shows.
• Activities: We enjoyed the Bike Tour around the property - there is really a lot to see and is worth taking the time for.

CONS:
• Front Desk/Check-in & Check-out: We were a bit disappointed during our check-in. We were not greeted right away with the same hospitality as with the staff around the resort during the rest of our stay. Although we specified we were celebrating our anniversary on our reservation, Sergio did not acknowledge it and even when we mentioned it - nothing. Also, he did not provide us with our spa credit vouchers (included with our Costco Travel package) which we ended up having to go back the next day to request. Also, we were given a room safe key when we checked in and were forewarned about the fee if lost. We set it on our table in our room and did not use it. We had not paid attention but it did disappear during the stay so we assumed our housecleaner turned it in. So during check-out, we did have to haggle about this but they did not charge us. Recommendation: If you do not plan to use it, request to not take it when you check-in!
• Room (Bar restock): Our only complaint of our room was that our mini-fridge failed to be restocked for three days, even after notifying our personal concierge each day. Apparently there is another service (not housekeeping), that comes around to restock all the rooms with water, soda & beer. We finally had to call the main concierge and within 15 minutes, it was restocked. Did not have a problem the day after that.

We would definitely return in a heartbeat and would splurge to upgrade to the Casitas. Although our package included gratuities, we still tipped. They work extremely hard and do not make very much. We would love to give a huge shout out and thank you also to all the staff behind the scenes who work very hard preparing our food or drinks, cleaning up, maintaining the pools and grounds, etc...

Room Tip: Can't go wrong with a luxury jacuzzi suite. But if you want privacy and quiet, upgrade to the C...
