We had the most amazing honeymoon at this hotel.

The second we arrived we were greeted with champagne and shown to check in, which went smoothly, followed by concerge taking us to a buggy to drive us to our room. The hotel grounds are huge but it never felt crowed, at most times our pool ( the health bar pool ) was so quite and relaxing, we didn't feel the need to go over to the noisey pool. The rooms are beautiful and well maintained being cleaned every day.
They can be cheeky and not fill your room up with the bottled water and then come and knock to see if you want some and then want a tip. we had a fright our second night, we were just getting into bed at 9.30pm ( still tired from the long flight ) and had knocking at the door, for there to be a security guard and a cleaner, they came into our room and didn't explain what they were doing, we thought they were checking our room, they cleaned and pulled the bed covers off then left, when we asked about this in the morning, it was turn down service !! If they had explained this it wouldn't of been so scary, so...if you don't want turn down service you must say lol

The food was amazing, every restaurant was superb with very friendly waiters, the meals look small when they come out but after 3 or 4 courses you will be stuffed. I know a few people say that there is a lot of waiting to be seated, we never felt this was a problem, for us we are early risers so we had breakfast between 7-8 am ready for lunch at 12-1 pm and then ready for early dinner at 6.30 - 7.30 pm, we had no problems at all.

We did tip every meal time but just 20 pesos, add that up over 14 days and I think it was about £30 ish pounds, and a little for the cleaners also.
The night time life wasn't much but a day in the sun with lots of eating and drinking, we wasn't too bothered staying up late.
If you have trouble seeing in the dark I would take a small torch, we did but didn't really use it but for the older people I could see this being a small problem as at night altho the place is beautiful lit up it is quite dark if you want to have a walk in the evenings.
Take the bike tour with in the first few days, its about an hour and you get to see most of the complex and get your bearings.
sunrise was beautiful, we would make a cuppa and sit on the beach in our dressing gowns and watch it rise, it was just lovely.
day trips was amazing too, dolphins, chin chin itza and xcaret was all amazing, do not go on the romantic sunset lobster dinner cruise, its not romantic and you miss the sunset because they wisk you down the stairs to eat and share a table with 2 other guests. we complained and got 25% back what we payed, but this was Thomson not the hotel.

The cassista area.....looks lovely as we had a tour and got to see some rooms but I would pay more money for these suits, they seems secluded when really the complex is so big everyone is spread out so you really don't need to pay the extra to be on your own.
The beach was lovley for a stroll, the bags didn't bother us as we only had a dip and a little snorkelling but for big sea swimmers you want like it.

I could go for longer but I need to stop now lol
I would recommend this hotel and would go back tomorrow.
have a wonderful if you havnt been yet. xx

We stayed in the Royale rather than Casitas. The Royale is an avergae hotel, and the sad thing is that you fly over a lot of great places to get here.
Food was on the whole excellent, the bars though were rubbish. the staff is surley, the beer is awful and I struggled to find something else to drink.
The atmosphere is non-existent, the beach bar and the cabarett bar are really dark and depressing . The Martini bar could be so good but was also a bit souless. They did have branded spirits, and the rooms had cans of Sol, so why wasn;t it on draft somewhere!!!
I have never been to Sandals, but I sensed it could have eased into their couples only resort portfolio. You also need to like Americans, most of whom were covered in ink....not always a good look.
Oh yes.....and you couldn't swim in the sea because of the man made sand bars....
Hey ho, save your money and go to Turkey.

From the second we walked into the door and were served champagne to the second we walked out the door to our private shuttle to the airport our stay was magic.
The room was an ocean view room which was really quite stunning. If you appreciate an ocean view, this place has it! We were in the very last bank of rooms at the far end of the resort and had a breathtaking view of the coast line from our balcony. It was quiet and wonderful.
The resort is HUGE. Huge. So bring your walking shoes. We love this aspect of a resort because we enjoy taking strolls. There are golf carts that whiz around and will pick you up to take you to your destination. Staff on these were great!
Las Fuentas pool is a main pool and we spent quite a bit of time here. In pool bar and activities here. Great spot to chill out and there are a ton of pool side beds here to relax and read in. Luis here was spectacular! But all of the staff there was great!
Food was pretty good. Fine dining was no reservation and I kind of don't like that, we ended up waiting for upwards of 2 hours sometimes. Ick! Food was quite tasty though. They don't believe in buffets here so don't come expecting that or you'll be sorely disappointed. JoJo's was by far our very favorite! Just a little seaside restaurant but it was perfect!
Some people really complain about the man-made surf breakers but I think they're just whiners. They're really cool looking as the ocean life has started to grow all over them. The swimming is great due to them because they stop the giant waves from making it un-swimmable.
Overall, a spectacular trip!! We'll be back and visit often in our dreams.

Room Tip: If you appreciate an ocean view, they've got it!!

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 week stay. We stayed in a Royale swim up room which was beautiful. The only negative I have is that the lighting in the room is not too good, everything else was outstanding. Please do not be put off by any of the negative reviews, we really could not fault the resort.
The grounds are breathtaking, immaculate and we never got bored of strolling around and they are beautifully lit up in the evening.
As most reviewers have said the food is amazing. We had breakfast at Cocotel every morning which was a huge buffet with something for everyone. D'Italia was our favourite for evening meals though the food was delicious and top quality in all of the restaurants. During the day you could get pizzas, hot dogs burgers etc. all equally very tasty. We had concerns about dress codes, but there were no problems. The main requirement is for men not to wear sleeveless shirts everything else was fine.
Evening entertainment is pretty low key with one bar providing entertainment and Martini's bar plus a couple of beach bars. The drinks were fab all top shelf and a vast choice of cocktails, all lovely.
All of the staff are extremely friendly providing excellent service. We never once felt anyone was given preferential treatment. We never felt that the staff expected tips and we tipped because we genuinely wanted to. The staff showed great appreciation when given tips, no matter how small.
We had seen many reviews from Brits complaining about Americans and I really don't know why. They were very friendly and happy to strike up a conversation with anyone. We met some lovely Americans.
We booked swimming with dolphins with V.Aquatics and this was a fabulous experience.
Our travel agent had recommended we take pesos, though I would recommend US dollars as trips, gifts etc are all priced in US dollars.
Overall, this is a beautiful resort with outstanding staff and top quality food. You will love it.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Royale section and were more than happy. Although Casitas look beautiful, they are...

This was our 2nd time here and our 1st time back since purchasing the membership. We stayed at the Casitas the 1st time and this time the Royale side. Big difference. Our swim up didn't have any water in it for several days after we asked several times. I've seen some reviews about the treatment depending on which side you stay in and I would have to say that is correct, even if you are members. We could only stay at one location did get benefits and it really wasn't as nice as the other areas that we would like to have stayed. The membership travel service was disappointing, I'm not sure they've ever been there. We asked for specific things and they didn't take any of our requests into account. The conceirge was very nice and gave us great advice but all depended on who you asked. Overall, it's a beautiul place and the restaurants are good, even though they need some casual places for lunch. It was really nice to have the private car pick us up at the airport. Next time, we'll try one of the other resorts in the membership but the Royale will be the last on our list.

My wife and I have just returned from our honeymoon this morning at this resort. Firstly i would like to start with the bad about this resort as a whole...

#1- The spa workers around the pool EVERYDAY of our 11 day honeymoon asking us if we would like a massage which is ok the first few days but gets extremely annoying afterwards. This is a "spa" resort but u have to pay over around $100 for a massage.

#2- Room service. This is a fantastic option to have without paying any extra cost but they have a few hiccups. Firstly the food always arrived with part if not all of it cold. Secondly plates are left outside many rooms throughout day/night waiting for them to be collected sometimes for hours. One particular occasion we rang them to collect the plates they were still there the next morning and the birds had been at it during the night and made a mess which with the heat made a horrid smell. This is not what you come to expect from a 5 star resort.

#3- One day whilst we were in mexico there was a rain storm so my wife requested a umbrella which was meant to be in our room already. We were promised it would be delivered and never received the said umbrella.

#4- The staff tend to favor american tourists because of there tips. On a number of occasions we were at the pool bar waiting patiently for a american tourist to basically jump queue and get served before us. This may sound trivial but it gets extremely annoying constantly happening.

Now the better things.

#1- Restaurant were mostly fantastic treated my wife and I like royalty every time even more so if u tipped i may add!

#2- The rooms are fantastic we only had a standard room and it was beautiful so god only knows what the betters room would be like! The maids were brilliant we left her a few dollars throughout our trip and she made some amazing characters out of towels.

#3- Candlelight dinner on the beach was as you would expect lovely we both enjoyed ourselves the food and service was very much 5* ad is worth the $140 you pay for it.

Anyway enough of my complaints we both enjoyed ourselves alot but the few little niggles really made us feel like we should have had more from this resort. Our travel agent recommended taking our marriage certificate to get upgrades an none of this materialized.
