We have recently celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary at the El Dorado Royale Spa & Resort. I must say without hesitation that this all inclusive resort is by far the most well managed and guest friendly location we've had the opportunity to stay at. From the moment we arrive until the time we checked out we were treated like royalty. You can tell that the employees are engaged and simply enjoy serving you. One statement that stuck with us is that every time you said "Thank you" there response was "It"s my pleasure". The personal concierges were absolutely great. They made it their personal endeavor to make us happy. A special thank you to Adan, Samantha & Cecillia who made our Anniversary a week to remember. From the beautiful beaches, the outstanding restaurants, the serene his and her massages given(Thanks Irene & Juan) to the impeccable and professional staff; this resort is for certain one you would love and enjoy staying at if the opportunity presents itself. We will be back next year...Can't wait!!!

Just come back off a 2 week break to this place. (Only just got rid of the jet lag!!)

The hotel: Gorgeous!!! Amazing landscape, set on a gorgeous white sanded beach. Various pools give you the illusion that its not very busy.

The food: Very varied but all good! They are very into the eco thing and even have their own greenhouse that supplies all their own veg........which means it all tastes fresh and gorgeous. The Cocital restaurant can feel a bit "school canteeny" in the evenings but everywhere else is great. We loved the Casitas Italian. I think we tried all the restaurants (except the fondu place, but that was only because we weren't a big fan of the cheese over there so didn't wanna risk it, we may have been pleasantly surprised) and didn't have one cause for complaint.

The staff: All very friendly. Everyone greets you with a "HOLA" *EVERY* time you see them............which is sweet (tho dont do this when you get home, it doesnt go down well in Tescos Bridgend!!!) and they have a golf buggy system going round the hotel that picks u up and takes you to wherever your lazy butt wants to go next.

NO COMPLAINTS WHATSOVER. GORGEOUS. LOVED IT.

Would we go back? No. but only cos we dont go back ANYWHERE a second time.

Rating? 10 out of 10.

Extra note: Go to Coco Bongo in Cancun. Fab show!!!

Room Tip: The fuentes pool tends to be the noisy one so if you are the type of people who want a snooze in the...

We arrived 31st May for our Honeymoon and stayed 2 weeks. Honestly DO NOT pay attention to the bad reviews on here! This Resort is absolutely amazing! We literally could not believe how pristine it was! This really is Paradise!
Unfortunatly we arrived the day before Tropical storm Andrea which caused quite a bit of flooding and ruined our swim up suite and Fuentes pool! The Resort acted FAST and within 2-3days everything was sorted and whilst the place was being sorted the staff put on extra activities etc!
Firstly the food, well it really is Gourmet Inclusive, whatever you want, whenever you want and 99.9% of the time served by the most attentive waiting staff i've ever experienced.

Dining:
Cocotal for breakfast is incredible, in 2 weeks you wont have time to try it all!
La Isla and the ajoining Pizzaria and grill for lunch are also incredible!
The Italians, Kampai and The Mexican are great for dinner! But all in all they're all great!
Unless you'er in Casitas you cant book dinner, If you're not casitas then you will get 1 complimentry booking for dinner. After a few days you'll see what restaurants are the busiest then you can use your booking effectively.

Tipping:
Although not required, it's best to tip at least $2 for dinner and a dollar now and then through the day for drinks, lunch breakfast etc.The staff work really hard and deserve their tips.

Pools/beach:
You can use the casitas individual pools but not the sun loungers around them. Having said that, the casita pools are alot quieter and all have swim up bars to get drinks.Note: you do not have to take a beach towel to this resort, any of the bars will give you one. La Isla pool is great for making friends, Fuentes pools great for a disco :-) The beaches are great with plenty of loungers and a perfect breeze to keep you from dying in the Mexican sun! Slightly rocky in places but nothing to complian about. Yes the sand bags are big but Really nothing to complain about!

Room:
We were in block 5, room 501 which was a swim up. Sun till noon then shade. The room was gorgeous with a big flat screen, mini bar and a shower that we really do miss! The maids are superb and also pay attention to detail. Tip the maids also, They're worth it.

Concierge:
Cecilia was ours for block 5, really couldn't do enough for us and everyone else we sopke to said the same about theirs. A very nice touch this resort has!!

Various tips:
*If you go to Cancun or Playa DC then shop in Pesos as it's cheaper. They fiddle you on the exchange rate if you pay off resort in $.
*If you're travelling with Thompson/First Choice you can pay for your trips at the resort in £/$ or Pesos, also with Visa.
*Departure tax is also the same $/£ or Pesos. Cash only. £45 per adult.
*If you go to XEL-HA to swim with the dolphins take plenty of money for the pictures. $29 for 1 image or $80 for whole disc of 50+ images. This was just for 1 person, a couple are about a third more. Would definitely recommend swimming with Doplhins if you haven't already - amazing!

We will definatly without any shadow of a doubt definatly be going back here!

We have just returned from our Honeymoon at El Dorado Royale. It is definitely the best all inclusive resort we have ever been to. The food was excellent - plenty of gourmet restaurants to choose from and no need to book which made our stay even better.
The Honeymoon package we received was amazing including a bottle of champagne on arrival, candle lit dinner, breakfast in bed and a sky massage. This package did not cost us any additional money so really added value to our special occasion.
The staff were so friendly - always happy to help and we couldn't fault the service.
We had some bad weather initially due to a Caribbean storm but despite this they continued to keep spirits high and keep the facilities running as smoothly as possible.
Special thanks to Cesar and his team who were so friendly and did an amazing job with the shows and other entertainment. Also to Alfredo who kept our room spotless and did a fantastic job.
We would highly recommend this hotel especially for your Honeymoon. The swim up suites are amazing!!

Came to the resort last year on holiday and I can safely say it was one of the best holidays I have been on. Excellent resort and facilities and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Choice of restaurants was very good as was the food.

There was work going on, building brand new rooms but the resort is so big that it did not matter at all.

Lovely, relaxing holiday, would definitely return.

We recently booked a holiday through First Choice to this hotel. We upgraded out flights to premium economy which was well worth paying the extra for as it was an 11 hour flight.
Our first impressions of the hotel was very positive. Check in was easy and we were quickly transported to our room.
We paid extra for a swim-up room which I'm glad that we did as we had the sun all day so if we got fed up with the pool or beach we had the option of going back to our room and sunbathing outside to catch the last of the sun.
You do have to get up early to get a sunbed by the pool but there were plenty free on the beach all day. Lovely big 4 poster beach beds, they were great as they gave you some shade from the hot sun.
The grounds were very clean and tidy but only thing I didn't like was the iguanas which roamed about the grounds all the time but then that is only because I don't like them. They were friendly enough and didn't do any harm.
There are many restaurants to choose from and we tried every one. Couldn't fault any of them but the Asian was our favourite by far and we visited there many times.
In the bars they served premium brand drinks which was a bonus.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We did a couple of trips out which were quite expensive but I'm glad that we did.
I would definately recommend this hotel and would love to go back again.

Came for our 25th Wedding Anniversary - couldn't have picked better.....
Can't believe the beauty & quality of this resort. Gourmet restaurants, all your named brand drinks and wonderful service are standard.
They had a tropical storm the week before we arrived and were flooded - how they got the resort back so that we would never have known if not told is beyond comprehension.
We only left the resort once it was just too good xxx
It is well worth getting the swim-up suite - lovely luxury - and you don't even need to use the mini-bar then as the pool waiters come round just the same !
Will stay here again if/when we return to Mexico xxxxx

Room Tip: Go for the swim-up suite - means you have everything xxx
