This has taken me almost a year to write and I guess it shows my true procrastination. I realized that in the midst of all my searching for this year’s vacation and honey moon to the EPM I needed to review my fiancé’s and I’s first vacation together at the Iberostar Lindo
We booked the Del Mar and in light of last year’s swine flu and were up graded to the Lindo. Now I must tell you that I practically grew up with the Iberostar name. From the age of 17 till now 28 I have been to only Iberostar Resorts, so I guess I am a little biased but to defend that I am a creature of habit and when something is good why change it up? The fact that I am going to the EPM this year gets me outside of my box and I can’t wait to be able to compare another resort to the almighty Iberostar Chain.
We traveled with Apple which we have always done and the transfer went smoothly, though I hate waiting for everybody to get where they need to be before the van takes off. I guess other people need to enjoy their vacation to. When we arrived at the hotel check in went smoothly and we were offered a fruity cocktail. If you don’t like sweet drinks then please do not take it because it is god awfully sweet. We were taken to the room asap and I dropped my bags and ran for the ocean. Swam in it drank some drinks and started my vacation. Note: if you wear your swim trunks on the plan the transition between check in and swim time is much easier.
Food: Food was great..staying at the del mar and tucan before the food was ok the Lindo is defiantly an upgrade for food quality. The fact that most of dinning is indoor on hot nights is a big plus. I am not a food critique by any means I like most foods so you may want to take this with a grain of salt. I loved the Italian and Mexican. I had the fillet and gnocchi, a must order, at the Mexican I cant remember what I had but it was really good…oh I had lobster! On a side note there Is a mini buffet at each of the restaurants be careful not to fill up on the horsduvers because its easy and they are tasty. We love champagne and kept ordering it at the restaurants, we asked them to bring a bottle on ice and they were happy to oblige.
Beach: Beach was beautiful, fun and sort of relaxing. You get that same mesmerizing blue that you get in most places in playa, clean and pristine. The only down fall is the fact that there are rocks and if you’re a big kid like me who plays rough you can stub a toe and hurt yourself, just be careful. The fact that I had to worry about the rocks every time I was in the water was annoying but not a deal breaker.
Service: Service was Great on some nights and kind of bad on others. We had servers that went out of the way to make sure our vacation was great and some that seemed a bit annoyed by certain request. Overall I was happy. Bar service was pretty good over all, but if you do tip they will watch out for you and take good care of you.
Entertainment: Ok this part was just like everybody else says, just ok. If you go in knowing that and have a few drinks you will be fine..the service in the theater was pretty good. I actually competed in a few shows which was fun. I got beat in a beer chug contest during the pirate show by some scrawny kid and I am still having a hard time letting that one go.
Tips! Make sure you participate in the iberostar sports activities, much fun! Now I highly recommend going to the piano bar after dinner, good fun, good drink…Go to the disco teck for at least one night….eat the ice cream it is really good….Have a drink on your balcony to relax before dinner and enjoy the warm Mexican breeze. Go to the karaoke on the Mayan side if you don’t sing thengo to watch others make fun fools of themselves. Go to Cozumel for the day rent a bug and have a blast. That was the highlight of our trip…Go to town, playa, walk around and enjoy the sights…oh and you must stop by at the Luna Blue, great bar to enjoy music have a cold one and sit on bar swing.
Had a great vacation overall and I am looking forward to my honeymoon in June at the EPM so I hope it meets my expectations that the Iberostar resorts have set.
