Fantastic hotel with very helpful staff and excellent restaurants. The pools and surrounding area are excellent, bar staff kept our drinks filled while we were sunbathing and enjoying the pool, entertainment for kids and adults round the pool area was very entertaining as well. Food was excellent in buffet and speciality restaurants, all in all a fantastic holiday

took 14 family members in June, 2014. The resort was perfect for all ages (5-72). The rooms were very nice, the staff was great (especially the "stars"0, the food was very good, lots of activities for all. The younger kids enjoyed the "kids club", the rest enjoyed all the activities during the day and shows at night.. The beach is spectacular.

would recommend for a family vacation.

Room Tip: bldg 53 was a convient and quite location

Our Family's first trip to Mexico and here's the review:

1. Booking an excursion?
There is only one person to talk to Lizet Guerrero Amstar! We booked a great trip to Dolphin Discovery with her and had to reschedule the day. She worked extremely hard for us to get a $60 reschedule fee waived. Ask for her by name and you will enjoy setting up your excursions!

2. The resort is clean and the staff is EXTREMELY hard working and helpful. The food was just fine. Best restaurants are the Japanese and steakhouse. Buffet is always changing and plenty of options.

3. Our family, like others, developed some "issues with the plumbing" on day two. My best guess is the water but who the hell knows what caused me to spend a night on the throne.

TIPS

1. If your air conditioner doesn't work at check in, check the slider to make sure it is completely closed. I made multiple trips to the front desk(long walk late at night) to find out that the slider was the problem. Not sure why they just didn't tell me at the front desk to check that right away.

2. Bring floaties and fill up at little store near pool.

3. As soon as you are up go down and put towels on your "spot" either at the beach or pool. Don't be rude and take a spot at both, like we saw so many do.

4.Tip, did I mention how hard these folks work?

5. Bring a big mug as the glasses are small.

Overall we had a great trip and enjoyable time at the resort.

There is no doubt that this resort is beautiful, clean and everything you'd expect visually in a 4.5 star hotel. The nightly entertainment had me in stitches some nights and in tears others - really great. However (and this is a big however), my husband became ill on the third day of our vacation with some type of stomach/intestine bug which put a HUGE dent into our holiday. We basically stayed in our room and only ventured out for short periods at a time for the remaining 4 days. I think the hotel and vacation package salespeople underestimate the fact that the water in the resort is not purified. They should've suggested that everyone use bottled water ONLY to brush their teeth intead of just saying to be careful not to swallow it. One other person in our party didn't feel all that well either for a few days (just not as drastic). And we heard others talking at the pool about some of their family members feeling ill. We did not report it to the hotel and in hindsight, I wish we would've. We really believed each day that it would be short-lived and just pass through him (like many of these 'bugs' do) but it didn't. He actually had it for several weeks afterward and in fact, went to see our family doctor when we got home. Not good.
Our only other experience in Mexico was at Iberostar Cancun which we absolutely loved - mostly because it was our first experience and we loved the layout of the resort - much more open to the ocean (this one felt far removed from the ocean even though it was fairly close). And speaking of - during the week we were there at Lindo (Feb/14), the waves and rocks made it almost impossible to play in the ocean. I came out with scrapes and bruises from being thrashed around.
The whole towel and restaurant reservation system is very undesirable. You are given a card to exchange for one towel which you then need to return back. And if you need to eat at a restaurant, you have to reserve it early in the week unless you're okay with eating at 9 or 10. I'm on vacation - I honestly don't know what I want to eat that night...let alone for the next 6 days! I want to be free from planning and having to do ANYTHING!!!! But that doesn't seem to bother everyone.
The food was good. Not super flavourful, but good. The alcohol appeared to be premium but the mixes (ie. pop) did not appear to be authentic (ie. Pepsi, Coke, etc.) because the drinks were not that great. This was not a huge deal - come on, we're virtually getting free drinks all day, every day - just a little annoying.
For all the reasons above, I really don't know how to rate this resort. My husband said he would never return to this resort again and may consider other resorts but only if they have a water purification system right in the hotel and one with not so many rules and regulations, top quality food/drink and a layout of the hotel that is more open to the ocean.

Thank you for giving us the absolute privilege of being your hosts by choosing IBEROSTAR Paraiso Lindo for your most recent family vacation.

We are sorry to hear that your husband got sick during your vacation. At Playa Paraiso we have our own water plant, and all the water of the resort is treated and has gone through a purification process, which is analyzed periodically by our Health & Safety Department and by an external consultancy company. The same goes with our food. Both departments verify our system procedures, conservation of products, hygiene, and take tests to discard any presence of bacteria, parasites, and other. We sincerely hope that he is feeling better now.

We also regret that you were unhappy with our towel card system. Many hotels in the area have to enforce this policy to have a better control of the towels used. In any case, this feedback, as all our guests' feeback, will be sent to our Housekeeping Department.

At IBEROSTAR we have different options of dining; some of our guests prefer to make their dinner reservations prior to their arrival, but we also have our buffets where you can find something different each night (Spanish, Oriental, Mexican, and others). You can also check for last minute cancellations if you prefer to be more spontaneous.

Your feedback is the best source of information we have to know if we are going on the right track, and every point will be reviewed with the department concerned.

We apologize for the inconveniences encountered and really hope to have the chance to serve you once again to change your impression and provide you with excellent service we are used to.

Since my now fiance have been taking trips it seems that every year we book at a Iberostar property. The thing I look forward to the most is the atmosphere. The entertainment team is always something that I look forward to. The food could have a little more variety. I would like to see more Mexican foods. The drinks were good. Another factor that I like going to Iberostar is the service. The staff is always willing to help and very nice. Make sure to take the daily vans to PDC. It has changed so much and lots to see and shop. The lobby and entrance area is very nice. Beautiful walkway. This resort was also a possible wedding site visit. Make sure to get ice cream and a crepe in the center. The tacos are yummy there as well. We almost went daily :) Email me for any questions!

Room Tip: Look at the resort map and try to email them beforehand for a room selection. I always like to stay...

This was the fifth consecutive year for the wife and me to sneak away to Mexico. We have not stayed at the same resort twice. The Iberostar Paraiso Lindo was recommended by our travel agent this year. It was an excellent recommendation. I do not have a single complaint. The food was incredible. I did not have a bad or even an average meal. Service was superb. The beach is all we could ask for. There was always some form of entertainment at the resort and pool. I have never seen so much effort put forth by a group of any entertainers at any resort. Some times in the late afternoon, if we wanted quiet time, all that was necessary was a two minute walk to the pool at the Del Mar. Their pool is also magnificent. In addition, we are animal lovers. There were peacocks, flamingoes, swans, iguanas, monkeys, deer, coati, and many species of birds. The animals provided much enjoyment. I cannot say enough good things about this resort. The only issue is we toured the Iberostar Grand, which was the adjacent hotel. Now, the wife wants to stay there next year. Actually, I cannot wait.
My compliments to the staff and management of this hotel. Superb job.

Pretty average resort. Poor food selection. Almost non-existent local food (i.e. Mexican). No liquor in the mini-bar. Only cheap liquor in the bar. Beach in a poor location, so that it constantly has dirty (seaweeds) water and big waves. Rooms are cleaned pretty late (as late as 6pm). Pretty average entertainment.

First of all thank you for sharing your comments with us and with other TripAdvisor readers.

We are really sorry for not being able to fulfill your expectations.

In regard to our Mexican food, we would like to highlight the fact that all our Mexican dishes are typical from different states in our country; however it is true that they are not international known dishes, but recommended by our Chef for their assorted flavors that make our food so delicious. We will send your comment to him; he is always receptive to hear our guests’ perceptions so that he is sure to go on the right direction.

We are sorry that your experience with us did not live up to your expectations concerning our beverages. We have national and international brands, including premium liquors that you can request our bartenders.

Our maintenance team works hard to keep our beach and pools clean and beautiful every day, so we are sad to read about your experience, and no doubt will we inform them about your feedback. When we have storms or windy weather, the sea can get a bit rougher and bring more seaweed.

We will certainly pass on your comment about the time of cleaning to our Housekeeping Manager to review it with the staff. They usually work with a rotta where the cleaning times of each room vary during the week, so that all our guests have the chance to have their room cleaned first thing in the morning during their stay. On the other hand, if one of our guests need their room cleaned at a certain time, we try to accommodate.

We wish to have the opportunity to host you and your family again in the near future to show you the improvements we make thanks to our guests’ feedback.
