We stayed 12 nights at this resort along with friends. 2 families of 4, kids ages 14 and 12. This is a nice resort, with good food, decent rooms and well kept grounds which we had no problem walking them. There were several complaints about bad food and being too big. We didn't think so, the buffet offered plenty to choose from, but needs more salads added to the selection. Most guests were lined up for the fried food and pizza, so maybe that's the problem, there are much better fresh options. We ate at the Japanese, mediteranian, gourmet, and Italian - all were good!

As for the walking distance we stayed midway between beach and lobby which was fine. We saw lots of carts going back and forth, we like walking and it took 5 min to get around. The only time one needs a cart is when it is pouring rain, and it did almost every night. Not so nice when you are dressed up for dinner getting soaked - and nothing dries in the humidity.

Beach is ok, very crowded and like everywhere else you need to put towels out early, and hope to still find them after breakfast. Pool area is huge and nice with lots of options, again get there before 8. The beach even earlier. My complaint about this area is the towel shack is in the center pool area, and there should be another one at the beach.

Our kids did not use the kids club as they are older but enjoyed the soccer games everyday at the beach. We saw a couple of shows, but they start too late for us. Most other resorts have shows no later than 9 pm. Since we eat supper early it was too much waiting around in between.

Staff was friendly and courteous, as usual work very hard to please, we are lucky to enjoy this service they provide us. We realize tipping is an option, but notice that many people do not, which is a shame, because they really do deserve. Some other reviews had mentioned rude Europeans, they are not from Europe but from Quebec. There are too many at this resort and they are indeed rude and pushy and do no interact with anyone else. They are not nice to the staff and lack manners. I would not return to this place because of the overwhelming amount of these unfriendly guests, they are loud and obnoxious. Aside from that it is a very nice place to stay.

The resort itself is nice, no doubt about it. The appearance is modern, the decoration and architecture is tastefully done but to me it felt like a really nice summer camp, thanks to the massive amounts of kids there.
There was not a single area for just adults, if you go to the restaurants you had to pass a park of strollers, if you go in the pool, you will have to share it with kids doing the cannonball water jump, playing frisbee or just goofing around.
The restaurants were nice, some better than others. The french restaurant had a nice ambiance but the portion was ridiculously small. Four bites of lobster with some fancy splashes of sauce on it don't qualify for me as an entry, leave alone dinner. That visit was not worth the reservation.
The staff was very friendly, no matter where. They also tried very hard to keep the resort clean, which they succeeded at.

If you have kids, it's a great place. (Honestly, I have never seen a resort with so many children. The average couple had either two kids or one kid and the Mom was pregnant.)

If you are looking for a resort that is more aimed for adults and you don't want to get constantly bombarded by some children, have to get out of way for some stroller or see you neighbor breastfeed, then this is not your resort.
This is for me personally the only reason why I would not go back.
It was just kids overload.

Room Tip: A room facing the pool provides a nice view.

A great, friendly, large, resort. Plenty of food, shopping, and activity options. A great (will go out of their way for you) staff, a lively and awesome wave beach, and friendly and fast bartenders.

Stayed for a week and didn't have one issue. Enjoyed the nightclub twice, watched plenty of live performances, and experienced many of the activities on the beach.

Definitely will return sooner than later, had a great time!!

I stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach with my husband and my 7 year old daughter from December 8 to December 22, 2013. This was our first stay at this resort and we would recommend it. My husband enjoyed many beach and pool activities organized by the entertainment team, my daughter loved the kids club and mini disco, and I enjoyed my books in the quiet pool area - there was something for everyone!
Pros:
- beautiful grounds
- amazing pool
- entertainment- Ed, Dario, Alex, Monse, Rigo, Gabriel, Yeya (sorry if I have forgotten someone ) were wonderful
- Kids club - our daughter really enjoyed the activities - many thanks to Alejandra :)
- Steakhouse, Brazilian and Japanese restaurants were great
- spacious rooms - many thanks to the cleaning staff for keeping the rooms spotless
Cons:
- the buffet restaurants - the food was repetitive, and it would be really helpful to have a name of the dish displayed by the dish; the list of 8-10 different dishes is displayed in each area, and then you have to guess what is actually served in each dish
- the beach - we missed swimming in the ocean as the waves were rough almost every day of our stay; also, there were quite a few rocks on the ocean bottom

Room Tip: we stayed at the room 3742; the building is half way between the front lobby and the beach; we did lots of walking but we did not mind as the grounds are beautiful.
