This resort has been well documented on other reviews, but we thought we'd add a few comments after our two week stay from March 17-31, 2012. We are a family of six people with a Grandma, 2 adults and 3 kids, and we had contacted the resort ahead of time for a room request for adjoining rooms and certain beds. All requests were granted, and check in was a breeze. We booked with Westjet Vacations and had a very good transfer from the airport to the hotel (although is was a bit of a wait). The rooms are spacious and well appointed for Mexican all-inclusive rooms (typical 4star quality). Yes they were a walk to the buffet, but the excersice is usually welcome. Also Grandma has mobility issues, so we would call for Golf Cart pickup, which ALWAYS arrived within 5 minutes of a call. We were in the 3400 rooms, which are very close to the pool, and somewhat close to the beach, which was perfect. The Buffets were a bit repetative, but that is to be expected in buffets. We ate a the Mediterrainian, the Brazilian, the Japanese, the Italian and the Steakhouse. The Brazil and Japan were the best, followed by the Steakhouse, Italian then the Med. We had a bad experience with the waiter no counting the dishes right at the Med and only getting 4 of the 6 meals. Oh well, we went to the buffet afterwards and all was good. The table Magician at the Buffet was very entertaining and also does baloon animals for the kids.

We did not see much as far as the show went, the the Illusionist was not bad. The beach at this resort is beautiful and the kids loved playing in the waves. The Red flag just means stay where you can touch the bottom, so we were able to go out and play every day.

I am an early riser, so getting the pool chairs was never an issue, but the good ones tend to book up early, so be aware.

The wildlife around the resort was beautiful and plentiful, such a nice treat to see. We actually noticed people form the Grand Resort coming to visit us for the walks, and the more active pools, rather than their stuffiness.

We also used the Dressel Diving service for the Learn to dive program, and had a wonderful diving experience of the shore of the resort.

Hope that this review helps, and don't take the negative stuff too seriously, it is a beautiful 4 star resort.

Room Tip: Rooms in the 3400 are close to the pool and beach, a good walk to the buffet

This resort was beautiful. The grounds were immaculant. Alot of walking but that was a good thing as I am trying to keep the weight off and I eat and drank more than I would normally and came home without gaining a pound.
The rooms at this resort are lovely, spacious and very clean.
The beach was great. Its shared with the other Iberostar resorts but its very big. They were at full capacity when we arrived and still there were always chairs at the pools and beach.
The food ...unbelievably good. The a la carts we went to were Mediteranian, steakhouse and Japenese. The food was plentiful and very good.
I would recommend this resort to anyone. I felt very safe here and at the airport.
However when you go to the bus at the airport watch out for the vendors trying to get you to take time to see their "timeshares" or book your excursions through them, they are a scam.
beware...
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our vacation here and are already looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Our room was 3441 very centrally located and quiet.

Just got back from a week at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach,March 22-29 2012,this is a very nice resort. Its a huge resort and you also havre use of the Del Mar side as well but if you like to walk alot this is the place for you, they say they have a trolly service but i only seen it 2x the whole week, not good for a resort that is so huge and if you have any mobility issues your screwed. We stayed in room 3404 which was close to pool and beach and only issue we had was a musty smell and things always seemed damp so perhaps no 1st floor next time.If you happen to trip a breaker the breaker panel is in the closet dont wait 3 hours in dark for them to come and flip it back so be careful how many electrical things you have going at once. The maid service was excellent,we left a $1 in fridge and always got extra beer.Beach is beautiful but do watch for rocky areas when going in water.Pool is huge and lots of chairs to choose from but it could use a bit of maintaince. The food was ok nothing to really rave about and not a huge selection to choose from, pretty much same thing day after day at buffet but the alcarts that we ate at were the Meditterainian,Steak house and Braqzilian were very good just dont order the surf and turf at the mediterranian as its not at all like our eastcoast lobster. Now if you have a let day departure like we did you can ask to keep your room if its available for$10 an hour but can only keep it till 3.So you can use the shower by front desk to get cleaned up before you go.Overall it was a great vacation due to my travell buddies but i probably would not return to this resort unless some changes were made.

Room Tip: if you want close to pool and beach try for 3404 room and its not to bad a walk to buffet

Our whole family had a great time in this resort. Beautiful motif, great service, and is right on the sandy beach. The resort seems very eco-friendly. Peacocks, quails roam the grounds. Our children had rooms in Bldg. 41 & they heard peacocks' call very early some mornings! We were in Bldg 39, a bit far from the "main" grounds so no wake-up calls for us from those birds. The buffet restaurants, Mercado & Plaza which the Beach's guests share with del Mar's, could use more variety and menu changes in the entree department. Lots of desserts choices, though. We enjoyed the Mediterranean specialty restaurant the best. I have to say that the paella cooked & served on the beach was better than the one in the restaurant! The nightly show was very entertaining indeed; lots of interactions with guests. I particularly enjoyed the Mexican Night & the Magic Show. The tennis courts were disappointing especially for such a beautiful resort. They were covered with some kind of rubberized surface (over concrete?) which had several loose spots so the ball would die when it lands on those areas. Frustrating for tennis enthusiasts like us. Pool is wonderful, though; swim-up bar & ice cream bar very accessible from here. Lots of chairs by the pool & on the beach; could use more cabanas on the beach. And the staff is just wonderful; very friendly and aimed to please. I'd recommend this hotel.

Went south to suprise Daughter, son-in-law and $ children but we were the ones more or less suprised. Hotel was great, food was good, Did one side trip to Xhel. ha. A great place for kids and adults. was worth the price. Had an excellent time para sailing. The beach was nice but heavy winds kept us from going often into the ocean. The undercurrent tore the sand up and pushed it up onto the beach leaving bare rocks in places in the water. Recommend this place for children. The annimation team worked hard to put on their events and there was something for every age.

Room Tip: We were in building 37 which is just behind the stage for the Lindo but the music did not bother us...

Iberostar Paraiso Beach hotel, outside Cancun.
5 hotels in the resort but we were not allowed in two of them.

We just returned last night from the Iberostar Paraiso Beach resort. It was OK. I would not rate it a 4 star, more a 3 star hotel.
Staff friendly, most spoke pretty good english

Food was routine, many times we went to the buffet only to find it closed
food that should have been hot, was luke warm
burgers were pink inside
Food that should have been cold was room temperature.

We had infestation of ants in our room, had to vacate the room.
We asked for two double beds, got a king bed, I had to sleep with my adult son, which was not great, so changed rooms
One night the lights and power went out so had to change rooms again.

entertainment was good
they had a magician at night in the buffet he was amazingly talented,

bars friendly

distance from our unit 33 to the buffet was a long walk, walked it about 10 times a day, as no transportation came, feet were sore and blistered so it was a painful walk.
At night it's not well lit along the pathways, and even the golf carts most of them didn't have headlights on.

grounds beautiful and well maintained

Star Friends were amazing, best part of our trip was talking to them every day.

lets face it, food was repetitive and unless you went when it opened, food was cold or luke warm
best part was breakfast where I had them make an omlette for me while I waited.

The butter was disgusting seemed rotten to me.
Fruit was over ripe all the time, so could not eat that.
Beef was absolutely tough as shoe leather impossible to eat.
Food was a problem there.

Coffee was fantastic.

Room Tip: Get a room in the 4000 series or somewhere in the middle, we were down near the pool and the walk 10...

Travelled here for Xmas 2011 for one week from Dec. 21. I'll go backwards in this review. Overall I'd give it an 8 on 10 scale. A lovely resort and fully decorated for xmas with style and not over-the -top like some resorts. The whole structure was clean and staff friendly. Restaurants were good, the best, we believe was the buffet main restaurant at the Beach, to not be confused with the buffet at the Del Mare which is the sister and connected hotel. The only thing that divides them is the huge, fantastic pool in the middle of the two resorts and the two separate check-in receptions. Aside those 2 points, they are the SAME hotel so don't freak if they move you at checkin to the DelMare. Acutally they told us at checkin it was an upgrade and rooms were larger. I'm still not sure, but did see some smaller rooms at the Beach hotel so could be true.
Room (del Mare hotel) - we were in block 11 and thus almost on the beach (10 is beachfront). The advantage is that obviously you a very close to the beach, close to a part of the pool and right by our block was a restaurant for breakfast and lunch and therefore didn't have to trek to the main buffet restaurant. This said, YES IT IS A LONG WALK..I adore walking but after a day in the sun and swimming, etc, go back and forth is a long haul. Do keep this in mind when booking your rooms. If you want to be near the main restaurants where you eat each evening, say so when you book. Likewise is you prefer the pool or the beach. The room was fine, normal and accomadating. Cleaning fine too. It has a nice balcony with table and chairs.
Restaurants - At iberstar you always have access to main buffet restaurants for all meals and you also have the option of booking 3 speciality restaurants. We enjoyed the Steakhouse and thought it was the best. Mexican and French ok too. You get more waiter attention at specialty restaurants but less choice of food.
Xmas Gala - You had to book in advance for the hour and then went to the great meal. Had tons of choices and was very nice. Would love to see other guests dressed up as, hello folks, it's xmas so at least one nite, dress up. I think it would be nice if this was enforced for the special events as that too adds festivity to the meal. Some people were in tshirts and baseball hats....
BEACH - Of all the iberostar hotels (5 I believe) in this complex, the BEACH hotel has the BEST beach area..larger, more chairs, more service and near the sub school. Unfortunately the sea WAS ALWAYS red flag and so therefore could get in, fight with the waves and get out. almost impossbile to swim. A nice picnic type grill restaurant right on beach so no need to change or use coverup..
ACTIVITIES - not overwhelming but present. My 14 yr old liked the activity pool games each day and dance lessons. Nice animators and not pushy.
Families - I think this would be an ideal resort for big families, or reunions as it's big so you're not on top of each other and loads of choices so you can be together or be apart without causing friction. A lot of groups for Xmas and seemed to love love love it.
COMPARISON - Altho' an excellent resort, we went to Iberostar in Dom. Republic, Bayihibe, and must say we preferred it to this one. The reason: it's smaller and thus can get around easier and not so tiring but will all the perks. The structure and design IS IDENTICAL!! Even the xmas decorations the same. The Bayahibe was just a bit more select and international and since smaller, the teens and kids got to meet other kids easier. Interesting to see all the different cultures as that was fun too, whereas at Beach it was 90% americans and canadians.
If you go, you'll have a great time. Be aware that golf and anything outside of the resort is EXPENSIVE, even the transfer to Playa Carmen. You'll probably end up spending 90 percent time at the resort as it's quite a way from other areas.
Have fun.

Room Tip: If you want to be by the beach choose block 11, but it's a good 15 min. walk to reception and re...
