Our stay consisted of 6 nights with two rooms over the holiday season. The beach and pool were absolutely stunning. The staff was extremely friendly, prompt and helpful from check-in to check-out. With that being said, it is important to manage your expectations for this resorts room comfort and dining options remembering you are in a jungle. Don't expect your rooms to be cooler than 72 humid degrees or your beds to be soft. Now on to the all-inclusive meals, be prepared to eat the buffet a lot because the resort limits a la carte dining. For two rooms we had a total of two reservations in the restaurants, and yes, you do need reservations. There are no walk ins, no waiting in lines- strictly reservations. Our Gourmet a la carte restaurant had 20 empty tables with four seated tables for our 6:30 reservation. Our second reservation at the Japanese hibachi grill restaurant had empty tables as well with one chef per twenty people seated around the grill! Bottom line, empty tables were at all restaurants, every evening. It would appear that Iberostar prefers guests to eat the buffet which leaves much to be desired by your palate. The food was not good. The lunch and dinner buffets were very limited in variety/selections and, very high in carbs, processed meats, breads and cheese. We did not have a quality dining experience and cannot recommend this resort.

The Iberostar beach is located near the Iberostar maya and Lindo in The myan 15 min $20 cab ride to playa del Carmon.
The food is fantastic with great variety of local fruit like prickly pear and passion fruit.
For the seafood lovers the Mediterranean is a must with caviar and shell fish selections as part of the ala cart. Room service was greatly appreciated as my flight arrived after the buffet had closed.. And yes all included.

This resort had on site shopping centre disco and tons of activities.
The Londo has a wave pool which beach wrist bands are not permitted.

Room Tip: Stay away from 1st floor but if you require elevators stay on first floor since there aren't any...

This was our first tropical vacation as a family. We have a 17 and 19 year old and met up with other family with two teens, 13 and 17. It was a perfect resort for our teens. We felt like we could let the kids loose even in the evening, with some boundaries in place. The security on the beach helped us to feel comfortable even with the beach peddlers.

The rooms were good. The buffet food became tiring after 3 days, so I had to make conscience decisions to change things up and feel satisfied. The restaurant choices were much better but it was very difficult to get a reservation...we learned to tip the manager to by pass the reservations! We loved the Japanese Steak House, The Mediterranean, and the Steak House. The beach was fabulous. The people / staff were warm and welcoming. The evening entertainment became too repetitive, but my daughter loved it and wouldn't miss a show. The Star Friends were so upbeat and friendly. A very large resort with lots of options, but caution if walking is an issue for you.

I wouldn't go again myself, but I would recommend this resort to families both large and small.

Room Tip: I wanted to be closer to the beach but in the end the building closest to the lobby seemed the bette...

4 hotels share the Iberostar Paraiso name Beach and del Mar being the regular 4 star and Lindo and Maya being the 4.5 star. The Iberostar Paraiso Beach and Iberostar Paraiso del Mar share all the facilities that I will review.
Check in fast and efficient and to our rooms within 15 minutes. Not a lot of info given by the check in desk as to where on the ground you should locate we eneded up in 3909 and 3910. The front desk was exceptional about switching us from 3909 which smelled badly of mould to 3951 which was fine.
Rooms very ordinary but large. Showers old and rickety (3910 is in the bathtub and if you are taller than 5 feet you will need to crouch). No bathtub in 3951. TV's in both rooms old 20 inch tube TV's. Air conditioner loud and governed at a low of 22C. Room never got cold but was OK.
Cleaning and maid service excellent and timely. Maid created cute towel animals for 3951.
Pools excellent stretching over a considerable distance from buildings 34 to beach. Towel shack opens at 8:00 am.3 swimup bars. Lots of seating spread all the way including swing beds and small cubicles. The signs say no reserving but by 8:30 a.m. it would be dificult to find 4 or more together.
Beach fantastic. White powdery sand stretches for a considerable distance. Ocean is beatiful with great waves to play in. There is a large area to play in the waves in but also rocks close by. Be careful my 28 year old son broke his toe on our last day. On the beach are bar and snack services and lots of palapas and loungers. The palapas are gone by 8:30. The shack to get the hoby cats and kayaks opens at 9)) am and the hoby cats go fast. Volleyball goes all day long.
Food was overall good. There are 2 large and excellent buffets at the lobby end of Beach and del Mar. Usual breakfast fare on All Inclusives omelet stations, fruit, bacon, toast, yogurt, cereals etc. No cafe latte at the buffets. Excellent service and nice setting. Breakfast is also available at the 2 beach end restaurants including omelet stations and cafe latte. Never ate lunch at the buffets. Evening buffets were very good with excellent choices. How anyone can describe the food as bland or weird is beyond me it was All Inclusive fare but on the higher quality side - sushi, lobster, fish, shrimp, pork, chicken, beef etc (special mention buffet on New Years eve included all of the above plus filet mignon, duck, rack of lamb, quail eggs etc). Service was always excellent at the buffets.
Japanese Restaurant if you are from Edmonton and have eaten at Japanese Village this is identical therefore extremely good with superb service.
Mediterranean very good with superb service - surf and turf was similar to the Keg.
Italian was in the converted beach restaurant and again excellent service and good quality food (anyone for raw filet sliced paper thin?)
Bars 3 swim up perfect. 2 lobby bars good range of premium spirits (no not Grey Goose) cafe latte makers and excellent sipping tequila. Service can vary considerably as space is limited and they can get busy - remember to tip!
Shows were a cut above the regular drivel at all inclusives with a proper stage, lighting and good house band. For a good viewing seat get there a little earlier than the show start of 9:40 (kids show is at 8 or 8:30) This group of entertainers is a bit of a throwback to old style comedic slapstick with the odd misogynist and homophobic joke thrown in. Teatro Bar good serice can be inconsistent when busy - tip.
Disco is shared with the other 2 resorts and my 28 year old and 24 year old said it was busy and a good time after 12 midnight.
This is a good resort where the rooms are a little dated and it is a little isolated but has a shuttle to Playa del Carmen for 5 bucks per person (cab ride is $20). The service is excellent, the food is very good but the resort is a long haul if you need to go back and forth to your room.

Room Tip: Rooms in building 40 and higher are closer to the buffets

We just returned from the Iberostar Paraiso Beach hotel and what can I say,.. the experience what priceless with pictures to remember forever. We happened to have our wedding planned there right on the beach with 40 guests and I couldn't ask for a better service from this hotel. Everything went perfectly, staff was very friendly and helpful, we enjoyed every moment until the very end of our stay.

I would strongly recommend anyone getting married to choose this hotel for the perfect beach wedding ceremony and to also get the professional pictures taken since they are much MUCH nicer than any picture taken by any of your family and guests.

Cheers !

We booked this at the recommendation of our travel agent (after reading all the good reviews). We were happy with some things (pools, numerous bars, well kept grounds, very friendly staff. BUT we were disappointed in MANY things. The food was weird and we had a hard time finding things we liked to eat. Part of the problem was that many of the foods on the buffet weren't labeled so we had no idea what they were plus many things were seafood. We were expecting carving stations with prime rib, ham, turkey ,etc. Didn't see this once. VERY international food -- not for the average american with kids. Also we had many communication problems with concierge and front desk staff, problems with our air conditioning, some of common bathrooms ocean side were filthy. This resort is HUGE. Its about a 10 min walk from rooms near ocean to dinner restaurants. They have a shuttle, but no schedule when it runs so you never know if you can ride it and get to your dinner reservations on time. I would rate this 2.5 if I could. If it weren't for beautiful pools and beach I probably would have given a 2.

Room Tip: Try to get one midway between front of resort and beach. That way you are in between everything. A...

My son thought McGill and Joshua (resort entertainers) were absolutely AMAZING!!!!
