We stayed at Dreams La Romana end aug beginning sept this year, and had a lovely relaxing holiday.
The rooms were all pretty similar by the looks of the place, but its the biggest hotel we've ever stayed in and it took an hour or 2 to remember where everything was.
The beach is beautiful white sand, plenty of sunbeds, and the sea is warm and clear with a sandy bottom. There is a fruit stand which was great, mangos were particularly good, and waiters came round all day, so no need to move to get a drink.
All the bars were stocked with a good selection of both local and international brands , and they were very happy to give you whatever you asked for, some like lobby bar and the verandah have a better selection than the swim up and beach bars. Julio and Manuel at swim up were excellente, but all were great, too many to mention!
The standard of food in the restaurants was excellent, but it does tend to be a large steak or whatever and very few vegetables, therefore protein overload, which is probably the reason people have dodgy stomachs, rather than there being anything wrong with the food.
The selection in the world café was very good and if you couldn't find something you like, then I have to say you must be an extremely fussy eater. Johan was particularly attentive and very...We stayed at Dreams La Romana end aug beginning sept this year, and had a lovely relaxing holiday.

The selection in the world café was very good and if you couldn't find something you like, then I have to say you must be an extremely fussy eater. Johan was particularly attentive and very good at his job, and we had mimosa for breakfast most mornings.
The room was kept very clean and tidy, plenty of clean towels, drinks in the fridge, and toiletries topped up daily. We didn't use room service so can't comment on that.
The gardens and grounds were always raked and swept to within an inch of their life and whilst we were here, there was a bit of bad weather which brought in seaweed onto the beach, this was all quickly dealt with and cleared away, by an army of gardeners.
We didn't go to the nightly shows, or join in the entertainment as we were just trying to relax, and it was nice that they didn't constantly hassle you to do things, as we've found in other resorts.
We booked the speedboats through the grigri divers, and it was very entertaining, and not too expensive, and we bought the picture cd at the end.
The stalls of local sellers were twice a week, which was ok first time, but we were fairly pressured into buying, but barter with them because they started at over 100 dollars and we bought in the end for 12!! I have to say we did large detours after that so we could avoid them! We also tipped the travelling minstrels first time they sang...More
