“Ave. overall, but Very Good for Bayahibe”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

The double rooms are spacious enough, and have a nice kitchenette (no microwave), the apartments are pretty good, with a decent sized bathroom (probably one of the largest on the trip) with fine hot water and pressure, there is a mini-fridge and a 4-burner (gas) that could leave you scratching your head for a day or so, also a pullout futon/sofa, a kitchen table, but best of all is the porch. We had apartment Saona 1, the three buildings are named after the nearby islands: Saona (the one in the middle), Catalina and Catalinita. The owner is a lady quite nice, but speaks no English, there is a gentleman there as well, who does however. The only drawbacks to this place are: very rough road to drive back to it, and if you miss the sign, the locals don't seem to know of the place (we stopped and asked several)-not the fault of the Villa Baya though, if you park inside the gate, it is a hassle to open and close the gate each time you come or go, and lastly, but again not the fault of the Villa Baya, is the night-time noise. Yes, a good time can be found in Bayahibe in the evening, and when the music stops, the roosters begin, they have no sense of time and care not that they don't, any little thing will set them off (such as a dog bark) and when they are not crowing there is a sort of general murmur. Do not underestimate the nuisance! We brought a sound machine for this, and it wasn't nearly enough!
Overall, a little rough around the edges, but an economical choice to be in a central location.

Stayed three nights. Yes there are roosters (several thousand it seems) but I'm a light sleeper and they didn't bother me. We had a room on top with balconey on three sides. No AC but the fan was completely adequate. Large room, great shower, very comfortable bed. WiFi worked for us. Can't get coffee till 8:00 but otherwise service was good. Enought English spoken to deal with our requests/questions. Clean, secure, nice courtyard. Very short walk to town and beach. Fridge was nice

There are not many options in Bayahibe. This is definitely the best we saw. We had a suite with a view and the wrap-around deck was great. The rooms and bathroom are very large. Good water pressure. Staff was friendly and helpful, but the wifi never did work. The restaurant was never open, but it was the off season. The location can't be beat. Not on the main road, but close walking distance to the supermarket/bar (the hot drinking spot in town) and food. I don't remember the bed being very comfortable. Our main complaint was the roosters one street behind that were very noisy all night long. Someone had a whole backyard full of them. Take earplugs just in case. Other than that this place is great. Very safe neighborhood too.

Having visited VillaBaya few years back, we were not dissapointed on our return visit. The apartments are cosy and very clean, the localtion is excellent, for the beautiful beaches a couple minutes away and for the fantastic excursions to the islands.

Recommend Villabaya for is great location and good value. We will be back

This is a nice comfortable spot that's definitely worth it's very reasonable price. Rooms are clean, it's lively but quiet enough to sleep after about 10 p.m., and the staff and management are very friendly and helpful. The amenities are a bit lacking (how does an Italian-owned hotel in the Dominican Republic not have coffee in the morning??), but it's more than worth it to be able to get this level of comfort in this price range. The Italian dinner menu is delicious and convenient. I'll definitely be going back.
