“So relaxing”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

Been to this hotel several times and return because it’s tranquil - the private beach has plenty of space and the sea is clear, clean and beautiful. The views to Amouliani, Mount Athos and other little islands also lovely. Great mix of nationalities stay at the hotel – much better than being with all British people! The team of staff throughout are excellent – very professional and hardworking. Too many to name but Soteres, Christiana, Michaelis and Anastasia etc in the restaurant all so efficient as well as Sakis (room service). Christos in the beach bar and his two colleagues also give great service. The housekeeping staff keep the bedrooms and public rooms very clean. A sea view room is a must but they seem to vary considerably – some overlook bushes/trees/road rather than the sea, some have tiny balconies and others larger ones. Maybe they should be graded/priced in much more detail on the website. The seafront rooms have beautiful views but are located above the live (not very good) singing each night which goes on past midnight so sleep is not easy! Perhaps some Greek music/dancing would be more appropriate to the peaceful surroundings. On the evening of a Saturday wedding the loud music continued until 4 am – wish we’d taken ear plugs! Dinos runs excellent water sports and Niki and Katerina have fantastic Athos scuba diving centre on the beach. Not much to do in the evenings and too far to walk to Ouranoupoli - it’s a dull village when you get there by the free hotel minibus. Hotel food very good with lots of choice in the buffet restaurant but drinks are expensive. Boats can be hired from Dinos and there is a lovely new Azimut 43 luxury cruiser which can be hired for a couple of hours or longer with skipper but it cost 450 euros (£383) for a 2 hour trip! The original wooden pontoon has been replaced with an inflatable floating ring of seats just off the shore – ideal for children but please bring back the pontoon for the adults! Lush gardens are very pretty and well kept - can rest under the palm trees when the beach gets too hot. May return because the hotel is so relaxing and peaceful, also there are good offers for early bookings. Hotel organise private Mercedes from airport to hotel – about 1 hour 40 min drive past lovely scenery and pretty villages.

Room Tip: Sea view a must

Eagles Palace is definitely one of the best Halkidiki hotels. It has great beach ang great swimming pool with salt water, extremely helpful and pleasant staff and five star restourants. The rooms are pretty clean and the only thing is that as a Greek hotel (something must remind you that you are in Greece:)) there are no carpets. The size of the rooms is also questionable especially when you pay for superior room and the size is not according the standards. All the restourants are great and according value for money, the buffet is best choice (35 euros per person, for kids is free). It is great that there are beach towels available as well as maids change the towels twice a day, in the morning and evening (after the beach time). There is a sandy beach but in the sea there are big stones so you can hardly go for swimming without sleepers. This also creates problems for the kids going to swim without sandals. One major remark is that hotel has major clients both, elder people and families with kids. We enjoyed with 4 years old boy but besides the poor program of the kids club we experienced a comment that the area around the restourants is for adults and that the kids are not supposed to run there, which was quite a silly comment. Still, we did not have any problems. And one more thing is the bad road to Ouranopoli as well as lack of villages (Ouranopoli is the only one and it has one main street) for walking but is ideal for extremely peaceful holiday.

I am always conscious of the demographic when writing any review so I must start with the positives of this hotel. The aspect cannot be faulted, the beach, the restaurants the pool and lounge areas are all well maintained, the landscaping is verdant and colourful. The staff are attentive and pleasant, nothing is to much trouble. All your needs are but a phone call or if you're on the beach, a push button away. The ample restaurant/lounge seating and beach seating means you are never invaded or invading other people's space. The buffet areas are relaxed so it never first hog to the trough and the standard of cuisine is excellent. The two satellite restaurants offer superb vistas across the bay to enjoy al a cart dining, of the two Greek holidays we've had this is the best.

Now for the negative. If you are between 18 & 30 this destination is not for you. This location as with the general demeanour of the hotel is not a kickin' hot spot nor is the surrounding area. If you like to meander around the local life and bars of an evening the closest village is 10 euros in a taxi one way or by free hotel bus transfer at set times and not enough times. While on the subject, the transfer from the airport can be wearisome being the best part of a two hour bus ride but the bus driver did his best to make the trip as pleasant as possible.

On arrival the reception were attentive and helpful but our room was less than impressive being set at the back of the hotel looking out to a light sapping and oppressive tree filled scape. The situation was put right on request and we were immediately upgraded to a more satisfactory aspect. Both rooms were average but clean. The situation however did not improve as we soon learned that the open corridors were a playground from children who enthuse at occupying space with their customary running noise. The slam door locks did not add to the atmosphere which reverberated down the corridors like a musket volley at breakfast ensureing you woke with the earlist.

After three nights of broken sleep we reluctantly asked for another move. Which the always helpful reception were quick to arrange. We now had a second upgrade and our third room. Overall the hotel has more positives than negatives and your choice of room can make all the difference to a great or not so great experiance. For all our problems I would not be mean and give it an 8 out of 10 and would not be adverse to booking again knowing what we now know.

Just a quick request to the in house after dinner lounge bar entertainment. Cheer up a bit!

Fantastic hotel with amazing views. Almost a five star but not quite there, room was a little small, buffet was cold at times, pool a bit small and very cold, spa needs a revamp, great bar but drinks were very expensive. The positives were that the staff were very friendly and attentive particularly Olga (customer relations) and Mpzos (barman) who couldn't have been more helpful. The variety of food was good particularly for vegetarians and a lovely private beach. Overall a relaxing stay and well worth a visit.

Loved the place. Food really good, and they cooked other stuff for our 3 year old when he didn't want all the fish on offer one night. Was here 8 nights in a seafront suite with view of Mount Athos. Room not really 5* suite standard, bit small. But all fine apart from that, well cleaned.
The staff are really nice, loads of them and nothing too much trouble. Forgot to buy a storage card for a new camera and they sourced one within hours for only 6 Euros. Beach is great, especially for the little ones. And wifi everywhere, including the beach. Buzzers on all the parasols to call for more beer ! Hotel's boat trip to Mount Athos was great, our lad loved steering the boat.
We'll be back next year !

The excellent service and attention to detail at Eagles Palace make it an above average holiday experience. There is a long, sandy beach with plenty of sunbeds and sunshades, all in an unobtrusive sandy colour to reduce any visual clutter. This aesthetic and a sensitivity to the environment is evident throughout the hotel.
Very good food and friendly and professional staff, with special thanks to Olga and Nina. The spa was great (after a hard day doing nothing!) and the free pilates and yoga classes were a perfect start to the day.
There is little to see and do in the surrounding area but who cares when everything at the hotel is so good. If you need to relax and be pampered a little then this is the place to be.

Me and my wife stayed here on 1/2 board basis for a week in May - it was a Travelzoo for about £500/each.
Good:
The room (superior sea view), service, hotel facilities, decor and food were all great. The hotel is located on a private section of beach - which is immaculate. There are diving and water-sports facilities (extra cost) on the beach. We hired a speed boat for the day and took a picnic and toured the nearby islands. I also had a massage in the spa. Good selection of wines in the restaurants. The hotel runs a free shuttle to the local town 3 times a day.
Bad:
Not much to do other than relax at the pool/beach. Prices at the bar for food & drink are high. Wines are good but at +€45 for the better ones we had a fairly hefty bill at checkout. We went to the local town 3 times (for something to do and get out of the hotel for a bit) - not much going on, a few bars, restaurants and shops - very small village/town/

I doubt we would return unless it was on a similar deal and we wanted another relaxing week. Given to cost over the half-board basis I would suggest looking elsewhere at all-inclusive or full-board.

Room Tip: Our room was high up and a sea view - we couldn't fault it.
