It is a fantastic hotel, suitable for kids! There are playgrounds, mini disco every night and extra happenings. Trees and grass and flowers all over the place. You can leave your child play all around whithout worrying all the time
It is very clean, although the bathrooms need a renovation.
Food is nice, and the staff is very helpfull
I recomend it for family vacations with children

Room Tip: If you have small kids (2-4 yrs) ask for a room at ground level

I had read previous reviews about poor food quality & was anxious about what to expect, however location & Saturday daytime flight went in its favour.

The hotel caters for a variety of nationalities & with this in mind the food was fantastic. Occasionally there wasn't something that immediately took our fancy but it was an opportunity to try something new and the quality was always superb. It would have been good if there had been more child appealing food but having said that there was always plenty of chips & generally pizza, fish fingers or chicken nuggets available, but not always on the same day! I've got to give a special mention to the deserts - they were fantastic & a definite highlight of the meal - i've come back pounds heavier due to them alone ;)

The snack bar at the pool bar always had a supply of sweet & savoury pastries at the specified times, but you can't order specific foods - made a nice change though & the kids were always eager to find out what was on that day :)

The staff couldn't do enough to help & were always pleased to see you & ensure everything was ok. Location is remote but they have a free minibus if you want to go the nearest village but to be honest everything you need is on site. The beach is a short walk through a pine wood which was lovely & shady in the hot sun - never had such a lovely walk to the beach :)

Finally a special mention to the entertainment team & in particular Brendan & Antreas. They absolutely made my kids holiday, with water polo & volley ball particular favourites. If you didn't want to join in there was no pressure but they were so enthusiastic & friendly with the kids that we had constant complaints if we went to the beach to find out when we could go back to the hotel!

All in it was a fabulous holiday & would totally recommend it

We have just got back from a 7 night stay at Chrousso. Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and the weather was beautiful for the entire week. We arrived at the hotel at around 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, receptionist was a bit abrupt but directed us to our room which was quite easy to find, she also advised us that we had missed lunch but told us there was a snack bar. We went to find our room and had a lie down after the long day travelling and then went to find the snack bar. We went to where we had been shown and couldn't find it, we went to ask in reception and the lady took us to 2 food cabinets, one cold and one tepid warm, and pointed, "self service". We later found out that the snack bar was in fact breakfast or lunch leftovers which was quite ironic considering that the one thing in the Thomas Cook guide we were given at the welcome meeting was always avoid food which has been kept warm for long periods of time. What a joke! 2 nights out of the 7 the food was fantastic this was Sunday BBQ night and Wednesday gala night. Unfortunately they did all the good food on these 2 nights and the rest of the week was rubbish. Lots of veal and unnamed fish, not a lot of variety and lots of unidentified ingredients, one night which stands out was serving rabbit, with skulls and all still in the pot. Were all for trying Greek tradition but would expect a so called 4 star to be of much higher quality and quite frankly throughout the whole week nothing looked very appetising, and it was more a case of what can we make do with tonight. The staff in the restaurant were very efficient apart from one really rude woman who looked miserable all the time. The hotel was clean, the maid service was excellent, there were lots of wasps bees and flies and also swallows but hey in the middle of the forest what can you expect. We walked to the beach once and didn't bother again, very local and got charged 6 euros for a small bottle of lager which we were convinced was only because we weren't local. Hotel was very derelict so you were basically stuck as the minibus times were very strict. Had a nice holiday except the awful food but would not return to Chrousso nor recommend to others

The "village" consists of about 10 buildings with 2 or 3 floors (about 10-15 rooms in each building), 2 adult and 2 children pools and beautiful gardens. It's a nice place for quiet and relaxing holidays. It is especially kids-friendly, with its 4 playgrounds, pools, kids' club, mini disco and the perfect beach in relatively close proximity.
The accommodation (studio) was basic and dated. The kitchenette suggested that the room wasn't build as a 4* hotel room in the first place. It seemed more like a 2* private accommodation room. Maybe "apartment" is better. There was no shampoo or shower gel in the room.
The beach is perhaps the greatest beach in Halkidiki, but it's public and there is no reserved area for the hotel guests. It's sandy, the water is crystal clear (there were even fish in the water) and it's shallow for maybe 50 meters. Perfect for kids. The distance to the beach is about 1km from the hotel (or 15 minutes walk).
Food was hotel-food at it's worst. Tasteless, poor choice, overripe fruits and vegetables.
The most dissapointing point of our stay was the so called "all inclusive". It didn't include sun beds and parasols at the beach (3 Euros per day), any brand name drinks (Coke or Heineken or even Greek brand name drinks), safe deposit box in the room (2,5 Euros per day for a wallet-size safe), internet (5 Euros for 90 minutes) or beach towels.
The staff was 50% OK and 50% rude. When I asked where can I get beach towels I was told "In the mini market". When I called reception to inform them the wireless access point wasn't working (to repeat, I was paying for the non-accessible internet since it wasn't included in the "all inclusive"), the receptionist replied "What can I do?" When I suggested him to reset the access point, he told me that he will see what he can do "maybe tomorrow". One of the waiters spilled food leftovers to my wife's lap when picking up the dishes and didn't even bother to apologize.
Hotel claims to be 4*, but it's rated by the Greek authorities as a 3*. It hardly deserves the 3rd star. We were paying 115 Euros per day for 2 adults and a 6 years old kid (in September) and I believe it was a poor value for money.

Room Tip: Avoid no. 39 and other souterrain rooms.

We stayed at the chrousso as a family of 2 adults and 3 children for 2 weeks. The setting of the hotel is beautiful lots of small accommodation blocks surrounded by lovely gardens and play areas. the room we had was spacious and clean but in my opineon was getting ready for a refurbishment. Bathroom was rather basic and flooded after 5 showers had taken place ! but this is no detrement to our enjoyment.
there are 2 pools at the complex one is quiet and the other has pool games and aqua aerobics to join in if you want but never any pressure. even though we travelled at a peak time and during a greek festival there was never any sunbed wars which for me was great it didnt matter what time you went to the pool you could always find beds.
Food
The hotel is all inclusive and has only 1 restaurant which after 2 weeks we found it to be repetetive. however i must say we always managed to find something to eat.
we travelled into pefkohouri and to hanioti on the hotels courtsesy bus which runs during the day 10.30 back 14.30 or at night 1900 back 2200. to experience what was on offer there. A lovely restaurant in Hanioti is called stones run by an english lady who has lived in hanioti for 20 years, it is near to where the bus drops you off. A meal here for a family of 5 cost 55 euros and included 2 rounds of drinks.
The beach is around a 10 minute walk through the pine forest its well worth the walk the sea is crystal clear and gently shelves so very safe for young children.
Special mention to the entertainment team who work extremely long days and were never to pushy. georg and brendon doing aqua aerobics with my 8 year old son will be a special memory I will always have.
My only critisms of the hotel is there are no wine glasses, i am all for safety and beleive during the daytime they should be plastic but in the evening i really like my wine i a proper glass. the restuarant does have glasses but they were large tumblers. the pool surface in the main pool is rocky and my son did scrape his foot on it so i would definately reccommend pool shoes especially for the children.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay.
