“Fantastic Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2014

My partner and I stayed half-board at the Kassandra Bay Hotel in Kriopigi between 05/05/2014 and 12/05/2014. We booked and traveled with Thomson; taking advantage of a last minute deal with flights departing from our local airport. We had a positive experience and would return had we not an entire world to visit!

The hotel was in a tranquil location and our room (306) overlooked the vast blue ocean and idyllic pool area. The half-board food had all the staples of the modern British diet plus many treats throughout the week. The owners were all pleasant, welcoming and even patient when pushed by difficult customers. The gardens were well tended to, the hotel was spotless and the pool area has obviously received a face-lift since the last customers left their reviews.

The location of the hotel could prove trying if you are elderly, suffering from a physical disability or are caring for young children. We recommend renting a car from one of the local companies on the main road to enhance your experience of the island because we found the offered excursions lacked value for money and the Thomson representative clearly lacked enthusiasm and knowledge of the trips.

Recently came back from a weeks stay here at the hotel, and can't fault it. The family run hotel was in a beautiful Greek location offering a wonderful friendly service. The hotel is situated in a quiet location and the beach, local amenities and local bars are all within a walking distance. Though these walking distances are quite hilly! The half board basis was perfect for the price of the holiday and expected for Greece. If you are looking for 5* full variety then you need to go elsewhere! However perfect for the break we wanted. The staff are just lovely and are more than willing to help you out. We had an amazing time here and met some wonderful people. We would recommend this hotel and would definitely go back x

just got back from a weeks stay with family ... quiet and pretty location although a nightmare of a walk up to the village and down to the beach if you have any difficulties ... I hired a car which made a big difference as well as exploring the island which is a must do .
We were the first bunch of tourists for the season and it noticed in the rooms as it was so musty and had that damp feel about it , however was kept clean which is what matters . The staff were very approachable and attentive when needed.
My only gripe was Bingo ...Everyone knows the winnings is money but NOT here .. instead you get drinks instead which I thought was a bit of a con as clearly the owner kept the money we paid him .... Food was very good value for money and the chef/staff were always so nice .There was a few incidents with other holiday makers but you get there anywhere ..The problem was in all cases Booze and too much of it !!!! Would definitely go back again

after booking here as a late deal , I was a tad wary . For the price we paid we had a great week. The family owners are such hard working and friendly people that it is difficult to write the downside. we had 1 issue and it was resolved there and then which then enabled us to enjoy the hotel entertainment (other guests issues). We loved the walk to the beach (which is a bit steep for people with difficulties) but nowhere near to cardiac hill as others quoted. Half board is not quite like some hotels. it is limited and not quite catered for veggies. there is no fruit on offer at all and drinks aren't included in evening meals. It is however very reasonable in the Bar CASABLANCA which is a ten minute walk up a slight hill . the couple Debbie and Tony are amazing and so is there very lovely lady who does the cooking there . I would definitely go back if the price was right . Oh and not to mention all the fab people who we got to meet and have a laugh with, never have I been on a holiday where everyone has a bit of banter around the pool. Brill time had by us both.

Just returned from a weeks stay at this friendly hotel and was pleasantly surprised to find that all the negative comments left before had been dealt with. There is a steep hill to climb to the village but my wife, aged 63 and I, age 64 managed it every day in about 10 minutes. Nothing was too much trouble for the family who run the hotel, they were friendly, helpful and obliging even in the face of one guests total animosity ( those who stayed know who I mean!!). The standard of cleanliness was exceptionally high, the gardens well tended and the pool area spotless. The food was delicious with a wide choice of evening meals, although the soup could have been warmer. The breakfast was a bit repetitive but very tasty none the less. The sun loungers and balcony chairs appeared to be brand new but unfortunately there was a shortage of parasols for those seeking shade. All in all this was way above value for money and I highly recommend this hotel. Finally I have to mention Mark the Thomsons rep, the first week of the season is one I don't think he'll forget but well done him!!

Room Tip: We were in room 307 with great sea and woodland views.

Just returned from a lovely time at the Kassandra Bay. Felt it necessary to leave a good review as I do not agree with some of the very negative and petty comments left previously.

The location has its good points and bad .... Its hard work walking to the village and even harder walking back from the beach. Note - Thomsons claim there is a road-train service to the beach but the service doesn't start until 1st July, so the location is not good for older people mums with puschairs etc. On the up-side its on a lovely woodland lane with lots of birds, trees and flowers. No noisy bars, nightclubs or traffic. The transfer time takes longer than the Thomsons website claims - nearer 2 hours than 1.

The staff were lovely and work so hard. The cleanliness was excellent and the food from the restaurant very good. The drinks from the bar and snacks were a little expensive and a bit limited on choice but there are a number of good bars and restaurants up in the village. There were no nuts or crisps available from the bar and the freezer did not contain any lollies or ice-cream - but it was early in the season so am sure will be avialable later. Breakfast is not good but then that's whay you expect in Greece ..... bread, jam, cheese etc

The rooms were clean, well fitted with lovely balcony views. Luckily no TV's so very peaceful. However the walls and doors are thin so there is quite a lot of late night noise from other guests. The other guests from London provided quite a bit of late night entertainment for free!! It was better than Eastenders!!

Mark the Thomsons rep was very helpful and even did his best to settle marital disputes!!

I would definitely recommend to adult couples looking for a small resort with personal service from this family run hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the bottom floor or top floor. Those on the second floor have neighbours above an...

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Kassandra Bay and had a lovely time. Without wanting to disclose just how much we paid but for it; the value for money was brilliant! I disagree with the other reviews that are negative, we felt that the family who ran it were lovely and very helpful. The pool, eating area and rooms were all clean! I think the hotel now has new sunbeds and chairs on the balcony etc which were nice quality and quite aesthetically pleasing. It's a little walk to the beach (about 5 minutes) it's all downhill but the walk back is a little more hard work but only takes about 10 minutes. The walk to the top was all uphill and takes about 10 minutes as well. The hotel has a lot of stairs and would not be suited for those less able to walk.

Can't fault the hotel in any way other than we had one small issue which is not the hotels fault at all... With it being a small hotel there was a lot of gossip about other guests within the hotel which was a little off putting and difficult to avoid. This may differ later in the season when there are more guests.
