“Good motel close to Villers-Bretonneux”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

Stayed for one night on return from holiday in Alsace, location being close to the Australian war memorial at Villers-Bretenoux which we visited.

Good quality motel style room with excellent bed and bathroom. Dined there in the evening; very good quality reasonably priced meal. Buffet breakfast also very good.

Not easy to find ! Searched a retail estate before realised it was on the other side of the N25 !

Room Tip: There are two motel blocks both two storeys one much closer to the reception and restaurant. Ask for...

did an overnight here, many hotels on this estate but quite liked Campanile this was OK very busy bit slow in booking in because of this the room was fine but pretty ordinary but comfortable. We did not eat there as again it was pretty full up and was hungry so went over the road. We also missed breakfast as we wanted an early start and was expensive for a cup of coffee and a croissant. It cost 94€ for the night which is a lot for that chain but is was OK

Comfortable beds. So good to have small and large towel each, two chairs and air conditioning, unlike an 'improved' Campanile we stayed in. Good food, excellent 1664 pression. Staff very helpful. Loved the aviary! Wifi worked well, much appreciated.

Campanile hotels are all of the same type and standard. Good basic rooms, clean and tidy, Wifi, and a good restaurant on site. Parking is directly on site, in our case, right outside the door. Thoroughly recommended.

The hotel is ideally situated for those attending the Dawn Service at Villers Brettoneaux. The bus picks up from out the front of the hotel and because it is closer to VB, you can sleep in that extra half hour! There is not much around the hotel, with it aimed more at travellers passing through than staying for the scenery. A taxi to/from Amiens will take around 20 minutes and cost around 20 Euro. I actually stayed for 2 nights and glad I did. The rooms are a large size, very clean and well appointed. Pretty much everything you could want in your room. I really like the roller shutters on the windows so you can get a good night sleep. The bathroom also has a good sized bathtub.
The hub of the hotel is the reception/restaurant area. I made good use of reception with many questions. In particular Benoit was efficient, charming and fluent in English. I was travelling on my own, but the hosts (husband & wife that run the place) were so friendly I didn't feel alone. The meals are a combination of buffet (usually entree and dessert) and a-la-carte (for main). Breakfast is buffet as well. Despite my bad French and the husbands poor English, we made do with the menu and ordering and it was kind of fun.
For those that say the French can be rude, you will change your mind after the Campanile Amiens Glisy. The husband & wife (can't remember their names) are friendly, warm and generous. They will make you feel like long lost friends. Don't forget to say hello to the birds!

Room Tip: Top floor rooms are quieter but the downside are the stairs. If you have heaps of luggage, choose do...

As a family (with 2 teenagers) this hotel was booked as a part of an organised guided tour of the Somme Battlefields. It suited us fine as we were on a tour and the bus collected us from the railway station then dropped us at the hotel that night and again collected us in the morning from the hotel. The rooms were fine and suited us for a short stay, we were on the back-side of the 2-storey complex. We had adjoining rooms so we could still be together as a family. We ate dinner at the hotel's restaurant which suited us as we didn't have our own transport (we had travelled from Paris by train) and didn't feel like travelling very far at all to another restaurant anyhow. They were very busy that night and it seemed a bit hectic, but we couldn't complain about the meal or service, staff were friendly and helpful, albeit it "under the pump". This complex is definitely away from the centre of the city of Amiens, and is fine for a place to stay for the organised tours.

Room Tip: Families can request adjoining rooms, but ensure you request the joining door is unlocked.

Ideal location for travelling to Spain. Evening crossing on the Channel Tunnel, about 2 hours south of Calais. We we dubious as we pulled up outside as the appearance is very much like a Motel, all the shutters were closed.

We had booked 2 x Twins rooms for myself, my wife and two children but the receptionist put us in 1Bis and 1Tie (from memory) which was a double and interconnecting twin room - PERFECT!

Rooms were modern, wood floors, clean, fresh sheets, clean bathrooms - nothing bad to say about the rooms at all.

We did read reviews about the slow internet (which is FREE at the end of the day), but the night of arrival was the closing ceremony of the Olympics and we were able to stream the whole lot over the internet on the iPad without any problems.

Room Tip: 1Bis and 1Tie(?) are a double and twin interconnecting
