Very bad hotel with rude staff, avoid at all costs. Our room was a family room as we travelled with a toddler so it was a nice size. The balcony though was built in, i.e. surrounded with a wall so there was very little natural light coming into the room, it was constantly dark. Funny enough that was a blessing in the morning as the curtains didn't cover the windows. Our bed was 2 twin beds pushed together so that wasn't great either.

The bathroom was quite bad, just like the room itself it had no ventillation at all so the room was smelly after using it for hours. Shower curtain was too small so there was water everywhere after using the shower. Most of the towels had stains on them which was quite disappointing.

The lift in our block was lethal, it had no sensor to stop the doors if someone was still in the door so it closed no matter what, even if we tried to push the doors back. As a result it closed on me a few times hitting me hard (I was pregnant at the time with a big bump) and nearly closed on my toddler. We asked reception twice to get somebody to look at it as it was obviously very dangerous but the lady at reception was very rude and said that was the way the lift was. By the way, most staff at reception would start talking to other guests/staff in Bulgarian in the middle of a conversation with me and that's just incredibly rude. On one occasion as well staff at reception watched me carrying my daughter's stroller up the stairs in front of the hotel (there was no ramp at the entrance) and as I was heavily pregnant I felt it was simply ignorant from staff.

We were on half board, food was ok, not a great choice though but we always managed to find something we liked. At dinner though we got the same small saucer plates as at breakfast. When we asked for normal size plates we were told that it's hotel policy not to provide normal plates as people would then take a lot of food from the buffet and leave most of it behind. That in my opinion shows how little respect the hotel has to its guests and that it's not prepared to treat them like adults. Also not even water was provided for dinner, so that was disappointing too. I suppose we could have ordered drinks for extra charge but we felt it would have been unfair after paying for half board.

The only positive was 2-3 nice staff at breakfast and dinner. Some of the girls were lovely and my daughter loved them. Although on one occasion my husband went to get a highchair with our daughter in her arms passing a waiter and a waitress and they both were just looking at him, but wouldn't help carrying the high chair.

The beach in Pomorie is dirty. I probably only noticed it as I was with a toddler but she picked up a cigarette butt every 2 seconds. We had a few words with local tourists too as after we paid for our sunbeds and parasol they just brought their towels under the shade surrounding us leaving no space for us. The beach was packed but it was high season so that's ok. The resort itself is pretty boring, there's not a lot to do with a toddler. We had lots of bad experiences in the place but that's another story, not part of this hotel review.

Altogether it was the worst holiday in my life, we would never go back to this hotel or resort and we were glad to finally go home.

Just got back after a weeks stay with friends. Check in was swift and pain free, staff friendly and happy to help. Stayed on a B+B basis which is more than enough as food in abundance at breakfast and catering for all nationalities, they could invest in a decent sized toaster as the 2 slicer often creates a queue. We were with Balkan Holidays and took two trips, Blue Mountain worth a visit and a packed lunch provided by the Hotel, not too sure about Sozopol and the boat trip, rather boring. It was end of season so did not expect too much to do but the 3 Lev (£1:50) trip to Nesebar made a nice change. The hight of summer would see the place explode into life. No problem with local youths and did not feel threatened. Keep and eye out for the crooks exchanging money, steer well clear, use the bank 2 minutes from the Hotel. Had a few noisy nights from the main one from the Casino across the road and the other from a local wedding.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view for a little extra per night and get a safe box fr 3 Levs a day

This restaurant offers a wide variety of food, the staff are more than eager to help at all times. You have the option to sit inside or out no matter what the weather, if you pick outside you're sure to be warm and dry.

Pizza and Pasta well worth a try as is their Bulgarian Menu.

I really had mixed feelings about the hotel. I'll just list the pros and cons.

Pros: Nice location (right next to the walking street, 5 mins from the sandy beach).
Ample food for breakfast, dinner.
Nice space in the room, and quite large balcony.
Excellent aircon in the rooms, they worked very well, which was a relief when we got back from the hot beach.
Really great sky bar on top of the hotel, with amazing view. Though the cocktails weren't prepared very well, but that is a very minor thing (very few places can make good cocktails in Bulgaria it seems. We tried a few.)

Cons: Very dull staff (very few smiling, not really courteous), staff barely speak foreign languages, I tried ENG, GER, ESP.
Not a huge variety in food; either too many side dishes, or too few.
The bathroom was not cleaned properly. Sometimes the towels we put on the floor got placed back onto the hangers without replacement.
The shower curtain did not reach all the way neither vertically nor horizontally, which meant we needed to use one of our towels for soaking up the water after each shower.
Our curtain fell off the first day, because there were no stoppers on the ends of the curtain-rail. It took them 2 days to put it back.
There was not enough places to put our clothes.
The elevators are scary. Some of our friends got stuck for a few minutes. And often you needed to open or close the door of the elevator manually.

We had a good time all-in-all, but it wasn't because of the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room either facing the see, or the walking street.

the hotel is central and a ten minute walk to the beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There is a nice indoor swimming pool.Perhaps not the most suitable hotel for younger guests but worth a visit if you are on a budget. It is easy to get to Nessebar and Sunny Beach on the local buses. The beach at Pomorie is clean and the sea is great to swim in.

Room Tip: High floor the bar can be noisy.

We stayed at the St George hotel in Pomorie for the last week in september. It was very late when we arrived, but the check in was very quick and easy, and we were in our room within minutes.
The room, was very spacious, with single beds pushed together to make a double (great for spreading out). There were also two comfy chairs that also doubled up as extra beds. The best thing we found though was the fridge. This was stocked with a few items, beer, water, chocolate etc. These were the paid for as you left. They weren't the cheapest prices in town (1 lev 50 for the water), but the water at that time of night, was complete heaven. We later on stocked the fridge with our own beer, wine and milk, and never once had a problem with it being removed.
Breakfast was definately a talking point among the english guests. It consisted of the usual continental type things, aswell as cereal. There was also an atempt at an english breakfast for us brits, but this didn't quike work for me. Each morning, there were very runny scrambled eggs, eggy bread, and some sort of veg to go with it. One morning there was even sprouts and broccoli!!!! It was all self service so you could go back for as many sprouts as you wanted.
The only hotel facility that we used was the swimming pool. This was lovely and clean, and large enough to swim in. It was fairly deep so would not be recomended to leave children unsupervised.
We only ate at the hotel once in the Bar and Grill. The food was ok, but would recomend you go for a good hunt round for some of the other local bars first. There are plenty offering probably better food, at much cheaper prices. We paid on average 20 levs (£10) for two meals and drinks. There is also another bar in the hotel, but avoid using this as the prices were much higher, even though the bar man was actually going to the cheaper bar to get some of the drinks.
The hotel staff were all pleasant, with some being nicer than others. Ivan, the breakfast manager, spoke perfect english, and made you feel very welcome. We had an incident in the Bar and Grill, were when we paid for our drinks, instead of giving us our change, th waitress took this as a tip. Her mistake, as she probably would have got more than the 1.50 levs she kept. This was done to us several times, but mainly in the more commercial bars and shops.
The hotel is over looking the sea, but the actual beach is a good ten minutes walk away. Unfortunately, due to a massive amount of jellyfish, swimming was not an option for me. Opposite is a night club and casino, but not once did we hear any noise, and we had our room at the front over looking this.
Pomorie is a lovely little town, which i would recomend to anyone not wanting the hustle and bustle of Sunny Beach. As it was not as much as a tourist trap, we found the prices were also far cheaper than the main resorts, in some palces this was up to half the price. One average we were paying anywere from 3 levs (£1.50) to 6 levs (£3.00) for two beers. In Sunny Beach these prices were starting from 6 lev.
If you are wanting to visit the other towns, the hotel is five mins walk to the bus station. From here you can get a bus to Bourgas, or to Sunny Beach with all the stops in between, each journey was 3 levs each way. Our only problem was that we were too late in the season, and a lot of places were closing, or already closed.
All in all, The hotel St George is a very good hotel, and worth a visit. And with a 15 min airport transfer, makes it an ideal choice if you are on a late flight into the country.
