“Good location, poor hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2014

The hotel is located at the outskirts of Pomorie, some 3 km. from the town centre. Good location - we were walking out of the room directly to the beach. 2 pools, with limited sunbeds, questionable hygiene. Food on all inclusive - bareble. Limited choice, so-so quality. Biggest con - rooms and hygiene. Rooms were dark, old furniture, though spacious. Uncomfortable beds and pillows. Very poor hygiene. Be prepared for 2-stars hotel on the beach.

My wife and I recently spent 2 weeks at this hotel, booked through Balkan Holidays. Overall a poor experience. Think if I go through it bit by bit it would be easiest.
ROOM : Small and bed to big for the size of the room. Only one seat in the room and if anyone is sitting on it you can not get past the bottom of the bed without them moving. Bed linen was not changed in two weeks and towels were only changed once. We had the 2nd lot of towels for 10 days. The bathroom had a hole in the ceiling and another one under the sink vanity unit. These appeared to have been deliberately cut out for what reason I do not know.
FOOD : Breakfast was ok with reasonably good selection. Other meals were a bit hit or miss. Sometimes it was ok, sometimes poor. Food was frequently cold (Buffet style)
BARS: Only seemed to have the Lobby bar with was small and frequently full of Children on their i-pads and various other devices. Not the place for a relaxing drink. The alleged beach bar seemed to be being built during our stay.
POOL AREA : This should be the jewel in this hotels crown due to its location and views over the Black Sea. Unfortunately the hotel is plagued by nesting swallows and this means the the pool area and sun beds are always covered in bird droppings. To be fair to the hotel they do try and clean it up but this very often fails. My advice:- take or buy a packet of anti bacterial wipes you WILL need them for your sun bed, towel and yourself.
STAFF : The young bar and waiting staff are excellent. Friendly and hardworking. Some of the receptionists can be a bit frosty though.
LIFT : only one and frequently busy. Be prepared to wait.
GENERAL : As part of the all inclusive deal, we were supposed to get a meal and entertainment at another nearby restaurant once during our stay. This was advertised in several places throughout the hotel. However when I tried to book it I was told that the hotel no longer did it. Another couple who also tried to book were told that it was for persons in the apartments only.
About 2 days after we arrived a group of about 50 young water polo playing boys arrived at the hotel. that signalled the end of the quiet holiday we were hoping for. With the best will in the world 50 boys are noisy and they frequently virtually took over the swimming pool for training sessions. On one occasion they played a full blown game to the disturbance of people sitting round the pool and I saw at least one elderly lady being hit by the ball. Disgraceful in my opinion. The wrong place for such a gathering.
This hotel would appear to present an air of being 'shabby chic' From the ornate light fittings in the reception and lobby bar to the wooden 'Lipton's' tea box but to often it turns out to be just plain shabby and definitely not a 5 star hotel and not even a 4 star one.

Room Tip: Choose one with a pool view as at the other side of the there is a main road which can be noisy.

Stayed here in one of the apartments on an all inclusive deal and found it a very nice hotel. The staff were all very friendly and the bar staff especially so. The food was varied and tasty with plenty of choice for breakfast and dinner. The all inclusive included some cocktails too which was nice. The location of the hotel was very nice being a little out of the way from town centre but right on the beach. The room itself was spacious and very clean with the maids doing a wonderful job - the view from our room was overlooking both the pool and the sea and couldn't be better!
THe only negative was that there were not enough beds by the pool and many people seemed to do the 'leaving the towels on beds the night before' trick. Also the parasols were a bit knackered but the staff did seem to be replacing the worse ones at the time.
The beach was very long and wide in places. The part directly in front of the hotel wasn't the best but there were plenty of nice bits a little walk along.
Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and certainly wouldn't write off another stay if we were heading to the same area again.

Recently returned from the misfortune from staying a few days in this miserable hotel. Firstly I think everyone knows that Bulgarian hotels make up their own mind on how many stars they wish to award themselves, but this hotel is surely having a joke. I had booked all inclusive.

So, the good points. Pool was a good size, clean and safe with a lifeguard. The staff, in the main, were pleasant and nice.

Now the bad:
Food was shockingly bad, almost in edible. The worst hotel food any where
Only local drinks were free.
My son was expected to sleep on a chair, not a bed. (booked a room for 3)
Not enough sun beds
Umbrellas ripped and tatty
Dirty beach, with stray dogs
No porters
All day snacks was only cold dry cheap pizza and some soft biscuits

Apparently this hotel used to pretend it was a 5 star, until the local authority made them remove a star, seems they need to come back and remove at least 3 more.

The wonderful location, delicious food, smiling staff and comfortable rooms with wonderful sea view... But this is not enough for relaxing holiday. The sea is too near but the beach is public and paid /5 lv bed + 5 lv umbrella/. Very dirty beach - money for what. The bigger part of this hotel is sold - the owners are with very little children. All of them are russians. There was too many little children which screaming all the time and everywhere. I had a headaches from this noise. It was tiring vacation.
