What stands out for us is the friendliness of the family, and the charming brightly colored inn. We loved being in a village close to hiking and the main sights. Covadonga is about 20 minutes drive and the Lakes about 45 minutes. Canga de Onis is 10 minutes away and their are many restaurants there or a few others about a 5 minute drive. It's a great place to experience the peace of the mountains. We got local cheeses at the village store down the street, and we walked up the the ancient church where the hero Pelayo was first buried. Beds were comfortable and both rooms had a good amount of space and storage.

If you are looking for an out of the way base from which to explore this stunningly beautiful area of Spain, and you're not wanting easy access to a number of restaurants or bars, this could be the ideal place for you. This attractive, well decorated and recently refurbished rural hotel is in a small village about 6km from the small but busy town of Cangas de Onis. The village of Corao has one bar and one general store. Nothing much happens here. The hotel is run by a mother and daughter team in a very friendly and hospitable way. The daughter speaks only a little English so unless you're a Spanish speaker bring a
phrase book. Also bring cash as they don't take cards. Double rooms are between 30 and 55 Euros per night, depending on time of year. They will cook you dinner if you ask in advance at 12 Euros per person, and this seems to include as much of the local wine you can drink (and even a generous Cognac with your coffee!). Breakfast is simple, like the dinners, and costs 4 Euros.
It seems to invariably include a massive slice of mother's home made cake, which will keep your legs going in the mountains for hours.
