I can't say enough good things about this lodge-minimalist architecture that accentuates the picture perefect setting, beautifully decorated and with top notch service. All the staff are friendly and go out of thier way to make you feel comfortable without being obtrusive. I had special dietary needs and the chef concoted a customized menu for me every day. I would stay here again without thinking twice about it. Yes, it is expensive but its a five star lodge and I think you get your money's worth.

My husband and myself spent three nights in Nyungwe forest lodge and would recommend to anyone! Great service, good food, the room was comfortable , clean will all the details: shower rack warmer, wash clothes, plenty of towels, chocolate offered everyday..In the bedroom and in hotel :beautiful decoration with local craft. The swimming pool is heated, you can rent a bike, use the fitness room or have a massage. From our bedroom deck, we could observe monkeys in the trees and have been able to spot turacos birds!
For all what the lodge offers, the price is worth it! we went on low season and had a great deal.

Room Tip: all rooms are located in front of the rain forest. There are four bedrooms for each " bungalow...

I loved everything about my stay at this lodge. The rooms were fabulous, the views were breathtaking and the service was exceptional. I took a long bath, swam in the beautiful infinity pool over looking part of the forrest and attended the fun and informative tea ceremony. The food was good too. Super luxurious and relaxing place. No complaints! Next time I'll go back and do some of the nature walks. Loved this place and will definitely be going back!

We stayed at this magnificent lodge for a 20 year anniversary and were blown away by every detail of the place. We have stayed at a lot of top places in the world and this was right up there with the best.

The lodge is situated near the entrance of the Nyungwe Forest, which is the largest piece of unspoiled rainforest in Rwanda. It is a two minute drive from the park offices where you pick up your guides and the lodge has a good working relationship with the rangers. Really conveniently situated. The lodge is designed to blend in with the environment and is all done in wood and natural stone. It is built between a tea plantation and the rolling hills of tea bushes are akin to lawns - very peaceful.

The rooms are very spacious and built on stilts which makes it a bit warmer even in cold weather. Top of the range bathroom cosmetics, great gowns and superior bath and shower were much appreciated. The bed was slightly softer than we would have liked, but very comfy and beautifully warm. The rooms are positioned so that your balcony looks straight onto virgin rainforest and we saw a lot of bird life just by sitting on the balcony - including the great blue turaco in flight.

The lodge itself is very modern and beautifully appointed. Free wifi in lounge does not go into the dining room- a blessing!!! Very comfy and welcoming with a super fire to warm things up.

I am not a food snob but the food was worthy of the best restaurants in London and New York. We were blown away with the sophistication and attention to detail of the food and the taste was magnificent. Every course was acompanied by a change in cutlery and the amusee bouche was always tasty. Wine selection was somewhat limited but there were some decent French and SA wines, albeit at very serious prices. While we enjoy food, it is not usually the main focus of a review, but this was spectacularly good!!

Service was excellent and attentive all the way through. If you are in a hurry, make it known as the pursuit of perfection does come at a cost in time, but unless you are in a hurry for a pick-up it is a beautiful place to linger and look at the birds flitting among the tea bushes outside the lodge.

I have the pleasure of staying at this lodge frequently as it is situated close to one of our businesses. The lodge is a recent development, located in the Gisakura tea plantation on the edge of Nyungwe forest. Value for money is high. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable bordering the forest. The lodge has fantastic food with professional staff. If you are a bird or butterfly lover, or wish to just escape Kigali for a weekend this is a perfect spot. Only drawback is that the lodge is a tedious 6 hour drive from Kigali, or alternatively you can fly RwandAir to Kamembe and hire a taxi which is a 40 minute transport. If you have big bucks you can hire a helicopter.

Wow, we loved it here!!!! Nyungwe is definitely more of a resort than a hotel, which we usually don't like, but because we came in the low season (tourism wise), there were only 8 other guests! The place is absolutely perfect! The rooms are clean, spacious, cozy, well decorated, and with great views right into the forest! We even saw some monkeys outside our window. The staff are so kind and helpful, the main lodge is extraordinary, decorated with African themes, and there is so much to do! They organize chimpanzee and monkey trekking for you, there is a beautiful outdoor pool, a fitness centre, mountain bikes to ride around the plantation, a spa, and we even went to visit a nearby tea factory. We had absolutely no complaints about this place. Comfortable beds, large and beautiful bathrooms, great food, nice staff. We didn't want to leave. I highly recommend this hotel.

WOW...expensive, yes; however, worth it, YES! It is one of the most beautiful, luxurious places I've ever stayed with amazing service. The modern architecture and interior design is well-done with a location as stunning as all the photos show, and SO tranquil. We were super-relaxed in the most comfortable king-size bed ever! Each villa has a balcony out back that looks out at the indigenous forest while the entrance is from the tea plantation (there's wi-fi in the lounge and each of the villas, too!). It's the perfect jumping-off point for the chimpanzee trek, canopy walk, waterfall visits (one has its start on the property), and other gorgeous hikes. The food was delicious, though the only "warning" would be about meat dishes: the chefs need some training in how to prepare red meat and chicken correctly. Each meat dish my partner tried was dry, overcooked, or tough. However, the soups were delicious with lovely indoor and outdoor dining. I would most definitely stay here again!
