“Great place to relax”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

We stayed at the Corfu Palace hotel for 2 weeks in September and it was our first visit there and to Corfu. We stayed in a superior room on the 6th floor and the view was amazing. All the rooms are facing front and have a sea view.

It was billed as a 5 star hotel however the standard of furnishing and fixtures and fittings in our opinion do not live up to this. We had carpet in our room which was good quality and we preferred that to a wood or tiled floor.
The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels and also towels left for use round the pool. We we surprised that the pool towels were much bigger (bath sheet size) and of better quality than the towels in the bathroom which were really thin, small and on occasion had holes in! This was a bit disappointing I have to say.
The room was very spacious with plenty of closet space, shelves, a safe, fridge and good air-conditioning. The furniture however was dated and in our room there were 2 dining type chairs and a small occasional table. A couple of "comfy" chairs would have gone down well.
We did like the touch of having fresh fruit and flowers left in the room, that was really nice.

The buffet breakfast was very good with plenty of choice of hot and cold food that I'm sure would suit every taste and if you need anything you just have to ask a member of staff, they were very helpful. Tea and coffee are served to your table. You can sit inside or outside on the patio which is a nice way to start the day.

The pool area is very nice with a large pool (be warned though, it is salt water). The sun loungers and parasols do need some updating but there are plenty of both in both sun and shade areas and again the staff are happy to help if you need to move them or want an extra mattress.

It's only a short walk into town from the hotel where you can find some lovely restaurants, cafes and many shops! It's worth having lunch or coffee or cocktail on The Liston and watching the world go by.

All in all, although the Corfu Palace does not really live up to the 5 star rating, we really enjoyed our stay there and would most certainly return if we go back to Corfu.

Room Tip: Go for a room on a higher floor.

I have been staying in this hotel 3 times already and if I return only there. It has the best location in Corfu town, so everything is very close and can be reached by food. It is very quiet and relaxing in the hotel. The staff is very friendly and professional. The restaurant and pool bar serve very nice food. The only thing I dislike that rooms are always cleaned in the afternoon.

Room Tip: Room 609 was very nice to stay at

This 5 star hotel is just 5 minutes taxi ride from the airport and overlooks the beautiful Garitsa bay. The staff are friendly and efficient. The room we stayed in was OK - decent size, nice view, hard beds and slightly tired bathroom. The main town is about 5 mins walk away with all the bars, shopping, restaurants and great sights we needed for a week's stay. Overall a great choice for a holiday.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel on every one of our six holidays in Corfu and will stay there again in the future. Many of the guests are regulars who come back year after year, which is testimony to the hotel. The views over Garitsa Bay are unrivalled and every room faces the bay. We stayed in a Superior room on the sixth floor and would certainly recommend that type of room. The hotel itself is older so don't expect an ultra modern hotel with all the facilities that such a hotel offers and there are some parts of the building that need to be refurbished but the location, very friendly, helpful staff and general ambience make up for that as far as we're concerned. We ate in the hotel three times during our stay and the a la carte menu food was excellent. We will continue to patronise this hotel and are already looking forward to our next stay.

All things considered this is one of the best and friendliest hotels we have ever stayed at. It is in a prime position overlooking Garista Bay and all areas of Corfu Town are easily reached by foot. The food at breakfast and dinner is of very high quality and the choice at dinner excellent. We ate out at several restaurants but the choice and value for money at the hotel (not to mention the beautiful terrace on which you dine) made it the best option by far. The pool area is superb with a very large pool and plenty of sunbeds. We found that reserving two sunbeds for our stay was a good idea but there was never a shortage of sunbeds for those who didn't reserve.
Yes there is room for improvement in some areas. The rooms do look a bit like a 1970s time warp,we were in 614, but they are spacious well maintained and clean with plenty of hanging and drawer space. The air conditioning is effective and the balconies have a beautiful sea view. The beds are very firm but I understand mattress toppers are available on request.
The staff are extremely helpful and will always go the extra mile for guests. We were first time guests but many people we spoke to had returned again and again. It is easy to see why and we will be back.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better the view. You pay extra for aroom on the top floor (the 6th)

On several occasions each year we stay at the Grand Dame of Corfu hotels. Always very welcoming and friendly, well trained staff that never seem to change. This ensures a comforting stay. The cuisine is typical of this type of hotel and adequate. Dining on the outside terrace and around the pool bar has a great atmosphere with attentive, well trained staff. The hotel, with its beautiful, established, landscaped gardens and pool area are a one off as it forms part of the beautiful old town of Corfu.
The rooms face south, with their own balconies with stunning views across Garitsa bay to the Greek mainland. With all this said, it is a great pity that the rooms do not deliver, as they are tired and dated. Investment is needed to upgrade and ensure this hotel once again becomes the best in Corfu.

This hotel has beautiful views, very convenient for the town and airport. The staff and service were excellent and the hotel attracts a nice mix of guests. The food is good and the salt-water pool was refreshing. Only spent 3 nights there but would certainly return.
