We stayed at the Corfu Palace hotel for 2 weeks in September and it was our first visit there and to Corfu. We stayed in a superior room on the 6th floor and the view was amazing. All the rooms are facing front and have a sea view.
It was billed as a 5 star hotel however the standard of furnishing and fixtures and fittings in our opinion do not live up to this. We had carpet in our room which was good quality and we preferred that to a wood or tiled floor.
The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels and also towels left for use round the pool. We we surprised that the pool towels were much bigger (bath sheet size) and of better quality than the towels in the bathroom which were really thin, small and on occasion had holes in! This was a bit disappointing I have to say.
The room was very spacious with plenty of closet space, shelves, a safe, fridge and good air-conditioning. The furniture however was dated and in our room there were 2 dining type chairs and a small occasional table. A couple of "comfy" chairs would have gone down well.
We did like the touch of having fresh fruit and flowers left in the room, that was really nice.
The buffet breakfast was very good with plenty of choice of hot and cold food that I'm sure would suit every taste and if you need anything you just have to ask a member of staff, they were very helpful. Tea and coffee are served to your table. You can sit inside or outside on the patio which is a nice way to start the day.
The pool area is very nice with a large pool (be warned though, it is salt water). The sun loungers and parasols do need some updating but there are plenty of both in both sun and shade areas and again the staff are happy to help if you need to move them or want an extra mattress.
It's only a short walk into town from the hotel where you can find some lovely restaurants, cafes and many shops! It's worth having lunch or coffee or cocktail on The Liston and watching the world go by.
All in all, although the Corfu Palace does not really live up to the 5 star rating, we really enjoyed our stay there and would most certainly return if we go back to Corfu.
