“Excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2013

Was very impressed, so impressed, we were there four times in two days. Excellent prices, good selection of food. When there, ask for Basilli. The view is wonderful from the Taverna. When in Old Corfu, just ask fo Arseniou. From the parking lot, walk up around the sea wall. When past the Byzantine Museum, just past on the right hand side.

“Nothing special overall”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2013

We have read the reviews here before we decided to visit the place and we had great expectations of our meal. Unfortunatelly the follow up was not exactly what we imagined. At first the place's view and atmosphere is not something special but this was not something that we worried about because the food would compensate that. We tried some appetizers and had some seafood but most of the plates were not something special and the taste of them (no taste to be more specific) was indicating that they were all deep frozen and really pure quality. The service was not worth mentioning except that we had to ask three times for a refreshment... All in all, sorry but we are not coming back in our next visit to Corfu.

“Great traditional food, excellent value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

We had lunch and dinner at this restaurant. We preferred the lunchtime experience as the Sofrito was lovely and plentiful and we had the best sardines. The evening meal was good but even though we'd taken the trouble to walk here to make a reservation for the evening, a table wasn't reserved for us. We just about managed to get in. The Sardines weren't as big as the previous time although they were tasty and the Saganaki was lovely. Good value restaurant with lots of locals eating here which is always a good indicator.

“Fried courgettes and courgette fritters”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2013

This restaurant is found if you walk passing the Old Fortress on your right and the Asian Art Museum, through the arch and towards the Port. It is on the left hand side opposite another restaurant which is beside the sea.

We had mixed experiences here.

We had lunch (Greek salad, fried calamari and wonderful fried courgettes) with Ionian beer. The waiter was very helpful and checked out that we wanted the fried courgettes (sliced) rather than the fritters. The food and the beer were excellent.

The service, too, was good, especially as the restaurant became increasingly full with families celebrating, we think, graduation day. We did not feel hurried despite the fact that we were two people occupying a table for four which was seized by new arrivals the moment we paid our bill!

After this positive experience, we went back for an evening meal which was less successful. We tried for the fried courgettes again but got the courgette fritters (grated courgette with Parmesan?). They were delicious, too!

My moussaka was good but for me needed some cinnamon. Doc had the sofrito and found it too peppery.

A different waiter served us, not as customer focused and friendly as the first one and adept at avoiding eye contact.

We'll go back next time we visit Corfu Town, but probably for lunch rather than dinner.

“Good food, but beware of the feral cats”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2013

The food here is good and authentic, and it's a nice location so close to the sea. The problem is that, since our last visit in Sept '12, feral cats have moved in - one of them dug its claws into my wife's leg when she ignored it. The staff make very little effort to get rid of them. So, much as we like the food, the overall experience was not good.
