“I'll Never Stay Here Again - Rude and Inhospitable”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2009

We stayed here through a travel agency (Fantasy Travel which we will not use again either.) Because everything is prepaid - no one cares whether you had a nice time or a horrible time and treat you very poorly. Sofia was a monster, my husband was calling her an ogre and a troll before the trip was over with. We tried to change rooms because our room was dingy, small and very noisy and we were not allowed to change rooms, not even offered to change rooms if we paid more - (which we would have done ) even though there were rooms open and available. In addition, if you expect a reasonable breakfast, look elsewhere - Sofia doles out the food herself and it consists of a few slices of bread, a small glass of orange juice and one cup of coffee. If you ask for more, you are glared at like you are greedy. Everyone raves about the pool in the reviews because that is the ONLY thing to rave about. This hotel is designed for young travellers and Gay men looking for a party. The reviews are correct about George the bartender, he is the only saving grace to the place. HE should be the owner! There is no restaurant so if you need to eat, you will need to rent something in order to get to where you are going as the hotel sits atop a very steep hill and unless you are a mountain climber, you will not be able to negotiate the hill every day.

I stayed in Sofia Village with 2 other girlfriends. It was our first time in Mykonos and George the guy working at the bar told us everywhere to go, where to eat and what clubs to visit. The rooms were cleaned daily and its less than a 5minute walk to town where all the restaurants and bars are. We had an amazing view from our room looking down over the town and ocean.
The pool area also shares this view and is a great place for sunset cocktails! The pool/bar had a great atmosphere and was a perfect place to make new friends, relax or enjoy a cocktail.
Overall we had a great stay, Sofia Village has a perfect location, friendly staff and very affordable. I returned again the following year and recieved the same great service.

The host is tricky and wants to collect extra money from us! How GREEDY it is! Until show the email printout showing the price, we finally get a fair treat! But again they didn't give me the change back after payment, even the change is just a small amount!

Everyone works there seems like to turn a long face to customer! -_- !! Asking a map?! a guy showed an annoying face and seems cannot talk!

We booked this accommodation as it was the cheapest place in Mykonos within our budget. So as you could imagine we weren't expecting a lot, but thankfully it was awesome! We were picked up from the airport and taken to the hotel. It's about a ten minute walk downhill to the town bus stop, so not too far out at all.

The hotel itself was very nice - clean, large pool area and pool bar, the rooms were a decent size, modern and had clean bathrooms - it felt too good to be true! The staff at the hotel were all very nice and friendly. I love mykonos and this hotel.

In summary, great price for a decent location, clean and modern rooms. Woo!

  • Liked — The rooms and the pool area
  • Disliked — The up hill walk back from town!

Beautiful Hotel. Great staff. The rooms were a nice size and clean. Great frappe's are served at the bar. The pool was beautiful. I had a great time at this hotel. I met a lot of people and enjoyed my stay in Mykonos & Sofia Village Hotel. The only down side is that the hotel is located at the top of a hill. My friend and I had to take 2 breaks walking up this steep hill - and fyi: we are both under 125 pounds and in decent shape. So, after twice attempting the climb up we cracked and rented a car - this was the best thing we ever did - we saw the whole island, went to all the beaches & clubs. We came and went as we pleased, we didnt have to wait for the crowded buses. Thank god for the owners son - he hooked us up with a rental. Every other place was sold out! I would definitely go back to this hotel.....on one condition, we rent a vehicle ahead of time :-)

  • Liked — The pool & location (Mykonos Town)
  • Disliked — The hike up the steep hill to get to the hotel
