The iconic windmills are worth a visit - but be warned that there is no explanation as to when they were built and what they were for.
As to the folklore museum, it is supposed to have three branches including one of the windmills. Despite repeated attempts we could not find it, despite visiting the locations shown on the tourist maps. The only bit we found was the old house overlooking the harbour, which appeared to us to be full of junk. Lena's House Museum is far superior and opens in accordance with their announced times.

The Folklore Museum is situated in the Kastro area of Mykonos town near the old harbour. The museum had a large variety of displays but without buying the Official Guide could just be a jumble of old furniture and artefacts. The Guide makes sense of everything you see and divides the House into 6 ground floor displays and 2 courtyards. Don't miss the drawers in the display case in the entrance hall where there is a fantastic collection of votive offerings, these were used by believers to make a plea or give thanks to a particular saint.
The guide also gives details of other places of interest around the area such as the Archaeological museum, the maritime museum and Lena's house.
Although there is no fee to enter the museum we found that it is appreciated if you make a donation, however small, as these go to help with the running costs.

The folklore museum is a treasure trove of artefacts that have been gathered over the years into separate collections - maritime, household, clothes, paintings, furniture and jewellry. It is well worth a visit if you are interested in social history, and the history of Mykonos over the last 3-400 years. The museum itself isn't in great condition - it's more like a rundown house that you can wander through at your leisure, but there are guides and staff on hand to answer questions and talk to you about the exhibits.

It was so lovely to see how middle class Mykonions lived, this is a great little find, worth a visit. Just put a few Euros in the pot on the way out.
