What a great experience in Mykonos. This hotel is fantastic, clean, beautiful and friendly owners. The hotel is family owned by Sophia and her family. We were picked up at the port and just a short drive to the hotel. We had a great room #16 with a balcony and the most magnificent view of the sea. The hotel is within walking distance from Mykonos Town. Reviews I read previously before booking said the walk was long. Not for us. We took the short cut which Sophia will show you. The way back at night we did take a taxi for $3.00E. The pool area is great. We did get to use the pool of few times and we did enjoy it. I would go back to the this hotel and I recommend it to everyone. Mykonos is a dream !!! By the way you must have their delicious Greek yougurt for breakfast!!!

I only spent one night in Mykonos but still I enjoyed it a lot. Alkyon hotel was great, very nice location, amazing view with a great pool. The rooms were very good. And the service was so good, they were very friendly and welcome. They took us back and forth from the port to the hotel and also helped us showing us where to go.
I would stay there again when I go back to Mykonos which I will do as soon as I can

First off we are still in Mykonos enjoying our last night here. We were met by the staff at the airport (he was holding a sign w/ the hotel name) and driven in an SUV back to the hotel. We were so pleasantly surprised by how pretty and fairly large the hotel was. We arrived early and the front desk was not manned with an staffer but we were told to have a coffee / tea / water until they did arrive which would be about 8 am. The view from the balcony was so breath-taking we had no issue sitting and having coffee. Also within the lobby (all open to the sea and the surrounding area) was the free Internet and computer to check messages. We did not request early check-in so we decided to walk down to the pier and the windmills. Also we laid by the pool until 12:15 at which time we got our room. Our room had 2 twins with a rollaway and we had a great patio overlooking one side of the ocean but not toward the pier...which was fine because honestly the pool and balcony areas are so breath-taking you will not be in your room except to sleep. The rooms have been updated and did reflect a very clean crisp and decorative room. We are very delighted with what we paid for and the fact that the hotel is upon the hill overlooking is an added plus. One of the staff gave us a shortcut to walk to the center of the city about 7 mins. It was a journey going down the hill and steps but one that was met with humor and also some great cardio workout. A person who had handicap will not be able to do this. The winding street in front of our hotel is the one you might take although takes a little longer maybe 10 more mins if you do so. The room is not so big but it is enough to shower and sleep without issue. There is a flat screen TV on the wall. The shower for some reason does not have a shower curtain we did fine without it. A small bath mat is on the floor and it catches the water dripage. Perhaps they are considering this feature? The air con is very cool and only a slight blowing noise much like the US units. I believe the cars sitting in front of the hotel are for rent. Also some mops but not to sure on that. Our sleep was excellent without issue of mattress being to soft or hard and no noise to bother us from partying tourist. I give this hotel a high star beause for the money it has an excellent buy. You can not find a better view either. The sunset was amazing so we did not have to venture off. I will find a way to post the pics of the hotel and its surrounding for now...........Im off to see some of Mykonos. Enjoy
**free breakfast each morning time frame is in place I believe till 10:30 am

The Alkyon sits above Mykonos thus provides a great view across the town to the Aegean. A number of rooms face out to the view however we were not so lucky. The room was quite adequate although despite booking a double room we were provided with a twin. The hotel was renovated in 2009 and thus the furnishings are very fresh and appealing. The big downside to this hotel is the walk home from town. It's quite a steep climb with many steps. It's also quite easy to get lost due to the maze of alleys in the main part of town. As the hotel doesn't have a restaurant finding your way back in the dark can be a bit of a problem. Whilst the hotel does provide a map it is not easily used for navigation purposes. The pool at the hotel is a real plus. Being able to swim in it and see directly out to the ocean it almost felt like swimming in the sky. This negated the need to go to the beaches which we found to be pretty ordinary. The hotel also provides a good breakfast with the breakfast room also having a great lookout. The free internet was also handy

This hotel was absoutely the most beautiful hotel in many ways, such as the view from our balcony, was just breath taking to say the least. The room was so big and very large in size to accomadate all of our luggage. It was very clean. The location was perfect, it was within a short walking distance to the town of Mykonos where there were very nice restaurants and also some very nice shops. It was a very short ride from the airport in which they transfered us to the hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The price was very good and affortable. We will be back soon to visit once again. You could not ask for a nicer place to stay. Thank you so very much Sophia!!! It was Great!!

Having stayed at this wonderful family-run hotel each summer for many years, I now consider The Alkyon my home from home abroad, and the owners feel like my second family. Set on a hillside above Hora, the hotel has spacious and attractive rooms with private bathroom and terrace, probably one of the most attractive swimming pools on the island, and stunning views over the town and harbour. The staff are a delight and cannot do enough for guests, who are a truly international mix with many, many regulars, which should tell you something?

True, if you want frills and luxuries, this is probably not the place for you. The hillside location may not be to everyone's taste, but it's only a short walk, taxi journey or moped ride down into town. Also, there is no restaurant but they serve a good buffet breakfast and offer light snacks and drinks on the terrace or by the pool during the day, and there are literally hundreds of restaurants to choose from nearby and in town. But, if you want a comfortable, clean, reasonably-priced and friendly place to stay, then look no further.

Contrary to what others say, We didn't find this hotel that great. Owners need better knowledge/experience in hotel management. Hotel has an structure not appropriate for a hotel, there is no elevator, bags have to be drag up the stairs to the rooms, there is no help to handle the bags, must do it yourself! rooms are good, clean, comfortable. Breakfast is just acceptable/ Location is bad...up a hill, no transportation facilities.
