“Right Here - right now!”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Want to feel part of THE place everyone wants to be in Mykonos?

Here's the place.

Love this hotel - straight friendly - not gay - says it all. This if our place - and it draws everyone to it.
Stayed here a few times over the years and never disappoints.
Remember this is Greece - and the Islands at that - so rooms are basic compared to 5 star places in the world. It has everything you might need - just simpler!
Reading articles from others - have they forgotten why they came here?
TV - really? There's a world out there - who's there to watch the TV?
Yes it's ain't cheap - for a reason - everyone wants to stay here!
And yes some rooms are near the nightly Sunset/drag show - bur it's all only start 8.00pm-ish - and all over by 10.30pm. Then silence....
Then everyone head down town to eat and party!

This is an outstanding holiday hotel - the staff are incredible - views amazing - but the atmosphere they've created here - you cannot buy.

Go!

Room Tip: ASK FOR A ROOM AWAY FOR THE SHOW - but even if you get one - it's great!

"Best Hotels".... A highly emotive subject.

Beauty and any perception of service are definitely in the eye of the beholder.

I've stayed in wonderful architectural buildings; places of great historical value.

But, my criterium for my best hotel is simple: It's a hotel that makes their guests feel unbelievably special. Service is not a science. It is an art. The Greek people are ahead in this particular race as they are naturally warm and welcoming. The Staff at the Elysium have a happy talent for looking after people. I could not have been better looked after; even my brand new Aviators were carefully stored in the bar, after an exuberant night on the dance floor after the Cabaret (thank you Spyros). Oh Yes! The Cab. Fantastic. Loved it. Epiphany is a star. The whole drinks on the terrace watching the sun set followed by Cab and dance is a fantastic ice breaker; hugely entertaining.

Bar staff... Efficient, but even better... Entertaining.

DJ Mays is bang on and plays the audience to a T.

Reception staff were faultless and a source of local information.

Room 'Maids'... Always smiling.

Anyone who doesn't love this hotel and its wonderful staff has got no soul.

Everything about this hotel I loved. Drag shows were awesome every night at sunset. Going back next June can't wait. Waitstaff was so good and fun. Very clean and nice rooms. The view at sunset doesn't get any better then it does sitting at the pool.

Let's face it. You're going to choose The Elysium because it's the all-gay hotel in Mykonos town. It's hardly luxurious (simple tiled floors, adequate mattresses, mediocre linens), but you can find value (and fun here) if you can get pre-reserve the right room. Many are closets without views. Some rooms can't escape the pounding music of the nightly sunset drag shows (a plus or minus, depending on your desires). We saw huge variability in room quality (within the same category).

Room Tip: We liked #112 / #113 and similar rooms that had more windows and light, great views, and were comfor...

Just back from holidays at The Elysium in Mykonos. The Hôtel is in a beautiful setting. Fantastic view and amazing sunsets. Every part of the Hôtel is incredibly clean...The rooms, The Pool, The toilets and showers at the pool. The rooms are very pleasent (+++ if you have a room with a nice terasse toward the sea.). If you are not staying there you should go to have lunch (between 12 and 5pm). The food is EX,CELLENT and at a reasonable price.. Last but not least, the staff are very friendly...everyone, cleaning ladies ,pool waiters etc. And finally, every night at sunset a wonderful cabaret show with very talented performers( who are also very nice people offstage).; Thanks to all at Elysium....will be back! John & Julien

Problems; The room door has frosted glass so room is flooded with light from 6.30 onwards. Breakfast is set up from 8 onwards so we heard chairs dragging over concrete from 8 am onwards above us. Bathroom tiny. No WIFI reception in our room. Desk just said 'yeah we know - hotel full'. No TV, just a computer screen that had one BBC channel on a loop. Great on the day it rained. We spent 6 nights so expected better. All hotels have a share of bad rooms, but to pass this off as 'Twin Delux' and charge the same as better positioned rooms is wrong. Desk knew all this so complaining was useless. They have no dinner service either?? Stay in town at better hotel and come up for the show one night or hang ot at the pool is our advice. Way to over priced for what we got.

Room Tip: Go for a high floor away from main bulding

Been staying here off and on for years. As a single traveler $200+ per night is not inexpensive. Though accomodation in Mykonos is generally not a bargain. The rooms here are traditional, and that means basic. The bathrooms are in need of a refurb. The towels are old and cheap. The bedding is not great. Breakfast is nothing to get out of bed for. The views however are lovely. Plus point is the peace and quiet of being out of town centre, air conditioning and blackout shutters and good Internet. The restaurant serves a decent lunch.Downside is the nasty drag show and tacky " sunset mix " music show which takes place every evening ... It is passé, loud and cheap. Seen once, you surely wouldnt want to see it every night. The pool is still pretty, but the recent building of podiums around the pool side has detracted from the esthetic. Some of the pool furniture is worn. I come back for sentimental reasons now and won't stay more than two or three nights. The staff are lovely. I don't think I could recommend this hotel as I used to do. I will probably be back next year.

Room Tip: Away from the road, not overlooking the pool/ terrace... See view.
