“Excellent location. Even better staff”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

The location of the hotel is really good. Close to the port and the views. The staff is really helpful and will go an extra mile in case you have a request. The hotel is small but with a lovely small garden. The rooms are decent with a balcony thrown in . A pretty place to stay in Mykonos. The breakface buffet(complimentary) is hardly a buffet but I am not complaining. The city is good enough to be covered through walks but would advise a car hire. You can hire a car from as low as 20 Euros (Hyundai Atos/Chevy Spark) through the numerous Car rentals near the bus stand. Would like to give a special mentoin to the owner. He is a really nice chap who will help you out a great deal specially in case of any issues. Would highly rate him as well the hotel.

Great location, a bit pricy, but i guess its normal for august! Very nice staff, speaking french also! Great rooms with jacuzzi and the breakfast is freshly ordered every morning! Quiet area which is good for resting.

I have stayed in Hotel Matina 3 times already, each time being more delightful than the previous! Apart from being the best location ever in Chora-peaceful and quiet, with a magnificent garden-it's also next to all the hot spots in town, it’s like magic! I have stayed to other central hotels before, but the noise was unbearable there! The rooms are gracefully decorated, each one with a different theme, and that I acknowledged when I got there the second and third time, and got a different room, bringing friends too, all of them proved to be unique. The cleaning service was spotless, the TV superb, the breakfast in the magnificent garden memorable.
One of the most important things however is the people who run this place. Yanni, the manager is a wonderful person that made us feel at home, gave us all the right tips about where to go, what to do, what to avoid, he is so friendly and helpful, we just want to come back there again and again!
I totally recommend this perfect hotel in the heart of Mykonos!

I totally recommend this charming small hotel for a stay in Mykonos town-its delightful. Unusually, it has a wonderfully cool garden to sit in under the shade of its trees either for breakfast or before wandering into town for dinner. The owner Yannis and all his staff are so friendly and helpful which really makes your stay special. The location of the hotel is great - just a short walk into town but in a specially designated quiet area with no cars. Lovely quiet air conditioning in the rooms for a comfortable nights sleep. Hope to return some day and will definitely stay at the Matina.

Our original booking is out of town which is quite inconvenient. We have to thank Tini who works in Sunset restaurant that helped us to find the hotel. The staff are excellent and offer all information to us. Especially Julia, who is a lovely young lady and treat us as good as friends. The location is perfect. You can easily go around in night time and sleep in the nice quite besd. We also have to appreciate the staff who helped us to bring our luggage to the taxi station when we checked out. Without his help, we can hard do it. We are looking forward to staying there again in our next trip in Mykonos.

My husband and I stayed here on our visit to Mykonos. Yanni was the owner/manager and he was a splendid host! He kindly offered to pick us up from the ferry ride, which we were so grateful for after a long day of traveling. Every morning he made espresso for us and told us of stories when his mom ran the place...it's been in his family for decades. He was a genuine host and made us feel right at home. I told him I loved the color of his shutters (I'm a designer), so he had his grounds keeper paint me a sample of the color to take home with me! First class....! The place was quiet, charming, clean and comfortable...a good deal for the price. Couldn't ask for better and would not stay anywhere else when we go back!

The worst part about the Hotel Matina was finding it. We arrived by ferry after a 26 hour trip from NY. No one knew where this hotel was and no one could tell us how to get there correctly. Arrange for the hotel to pick you up or call the hotel when you get there. Walk to taxi square, stand in it, see "Everest", the cafe? Follow the street to the right of Everest all the way up the hill. Just keep following the street and you can't go wrong. The street includes stairs. Very friendly and helpful staff, rooms are very small (2 twin beds pushed together). Mattresses are very firm. Air conditioning turns off when you aren't in the room so it can get hot. Very near the bus stop for the beach and easy to anywhere in town. No breakfast. Beautiful gardens on site. Our room had a small balcony that we sat on a lot. There is a flat screen tv and a fridge that sort of work. They're very big on conserving power there. Would definitely stay there again.
