I totally recommend this charming small hotel for a stay in Mykonos town-its delightful. Unusually, it has a wonderfully cool garden to sit in under the shade of its trees either for breakfast or before wandering into town for dinner. The owner Yannis and all his staff are so friendly and helpful which really makes your stay special. The location of the hotel is great - just a short walk into town but in a specially designated quiet area with no cars. Lovely quiet air conditioning in the rooms for a comfortable nights sleep. Hope to return some day and will definitely stay at the Matina.

Our original booking is out of town which is quite inconvenient. We have to thank Tini who works in Sunset restaurant that helped us to find the hotel. The staff are excellent and offer all information to us. Especially Julia, who is a lovely young lady and treat us as good as friends. The location is perfect. You can easily go around in night time and sleep in the nice quite besd. We also have to appreciate the staff who helped us to bring our luggage to the taxi station when we checked out. Without his help, we can hard do it. We are looking forward to staying there again in our next trip in Mykonos.

My husband and I stayed here on our visit to Mykonos. Yanni was the owner/manager and he was a splendid host! He kindly offered to pick us up from the ferry ride, which we were so grateful for after a long day of traveling. Every morning he made espresso for us and told us of stories when his mom ran the place...it's been in his family for decades. He was a genuine host and made us feel right at home. I told him I loved the color of his shutters (I'm a designer), so he had his grounds keeper paint me a sample of the color to take home with me! First class....! The place was quiet, charming, clean and comfortable...a good deal for the price. Couldn't ask for better and would not stay anywhere else when we go back!

The worst part about the Hotel Matina was finding it. We arrived by ferry after a 26 hour trip from NY. No one knew where this hotel was and no one could tell us how to get there correctly. Arrange for the hotel to pick you up or call the hotel when you get there. Walk to taxi square, stand in it, see "Everest", the cafe? Follow the street to the right of Everest all the way up the hill. Just keep following the street and you can't go wrong. The street includes stairs. Very friendly and helpful staff, rooms are very small (2 twin beds pushed together). Mattresses are very firm. Air conditioning turns off when you aren't in the room so it can get hot. Very near the bus stop for the beach and easy to anywhere in town. No breakfast. Beautiful gardens on site. Our room had a small balcony that we sat on a lot. There is a flat screen tv and a fridge that sort of work. They're very big on conserving power there. Would definitely stay there again.

The staff are excellent. The location is great, just a short walk from the busy old town but quiet because it is in an exclusive area that has strict noise regulations. It was perfect for us to party all night and then sleep in a nice quiet bed.

Room Tip: The wi-fi at the last room in the hotel doesn't work. This didn't really affect us since we...

This has almost nothing in the room - One cupboard and two single beds. However, being forces to stay here due to missing a ferry we found it very central and pleasant as it was IN the heart of Mykonos town and had a cute little Garden and a friendly owner. Would stay here again if on a budget, despite the tiny rooms and shared showers. Actually Traveled in June 2009 but it didn't give me the option here :-)

This gem of a hotel is located in the heart of the Mykonos night scene, though far enough removed that you won't be disturbed by music while you're trying to sleep. The gardens in the center of the complex make it cozy and very livable. The staff is friendly and loves to chat. It's a family-owned hotel and has been for the last several decades (the current owner's mother used to run it).
