“Green water of the Léthé.”
Reviewed January 11, 2009

Upon the stroll along the main Mykonos promenade, we saw the gates opening into a beautiful garden, enchanting and inviting. We entered, and following the path, arrived at the door to the hotel. This garden with the swimming pool on the side reminded so strongly of Capri's Quisisana, and the situation of the building as well, that I was sure it would be tremendously expensive...But to our surprise the room was more than affordable - $120 per night. I could not believe such luck - we fled from Maddalena Hotel and were now staying at Rochari, but Leto made us forget all the misfortunes...

At the time of our initial reservation, they had a room only for one night, but when we arrived in the morning, they could give us two nights. It was such an exceptional luck, and we received one of the best rooms, on the second floor, with an unobstructed sea view over the garden.

At the sunset, the birds chirped loud farewell to the day, and it was a perfect time to dissolve into the beauty of the view from the balcony, sipping Champagne...

I was very happy in Leto. After staying in other hotels in Athens, Santorini and Mykonos, I adjusted my expectations for Greek level of hospitality and comfort. Most definitely, this is not France or Italy. Objectively, the breakfast was excellent by Greek standards, you can have it outside, weather permitting. The pool area is beautiful, and perhaps drinks are very expensive - this must be due to the fact that in Greece there is a curious practice to let walk-ins use the pool if they buy drinks, and Leto welcomed such clients, although in early October the pool was empty.

The walled garden provides excellent isolation from the promenading crowds, thus this hotel is the most centrally situated, yet very quiet. If I return to Mykonos, I will stay ONLY in Leto. The room was HUGE, the bed quite comfortable, decor is somewhat poor and dated, but again by the time we got to Leto we were not fussy anymore after other Greek travel experiences :)

The bathroom is very noisy indeed - you cannot turn off the ventilator. But the bath tub is deep and long in a pleasant old-fashioned way.

A great place for Mykonos, the memories of it make me dream again...

  • Liked — Huge room, above average comfort for Mykonos, excellent location
  • Disliked — as everywhere in Greece, overall comfort leaves to be desired.

there many good things to say about this hotel:
location is walking distance from everything :port, city center, rentals etc
room size is ok ,view is wonderfull ,pool and terrace area perfect and room was not noisy at night
bad things were the bad smell of the room left by earlier guest(party island) and the fact hotel was full and nothing was done to mend it ,not even an apologize
all in all liked but felt overcharged in atention at service received

My wife, 15 year old son, and I stayed at the Leto from June 27-July1. First the good: the hotel is in a perfect location, just to the left of the main town, right on the harbor, with a little beach right in front of it. No dealing with taxis or walking on dangerous roads. The breakfast was tremendous; I cannot say enough about it. Everything you could think of and more including different and delicious pastries & tarts every day. There is an inside room (beware of Greeks smoking!) and a large outside area overlooking the harbor--very, very nice. And the pool area is outstanding--large area with lots of lounges and shade. If you have kiddies, watch out as the pool is about 6' deep all the way around. Our one br unit was nice, not spectacular...separate bedroom and two beds/couches in the main room with a table and refrig...two separate air conditioners that worked fine. Our unit didn't have a much of a view.
The not so good: when we checked in on Friday we were warned there would be a wedding reception Sat night and they didn't know when the reception would end. We knew we were in trouble Sat night when we returned around 10:45PM and the people at the reception were in the middle of eating dinner. We actually hung around the edge of the pool area and watched until after 1:00 AM and then went to our room. Well, the band didn't stop playing until after 5AM!! And they were loud; there was no escaping the noise. And I'm told that some of the guests didn't leave until almost 7AM!! We let managment know of our annoyance that the music went on so late, and to their credit they gave us a partial refund for the one night and a free taxi to the airport, but...I'm told this was not the first reception that went on late. Hotel managment should realize its first responsibility should be to its guests and that these receptions should end at 1 or 2AM at the very latest. I'm sure not just the guests at the hotel were disturbed by the noise but others in the viciinity were as well. So if you want to stay here on a Saturday, I would check first and find out if there is a wedding reception scheduled for that night...you have been warned.
Also, one of the reasons we picked the Leto was that it had a poolside restaurant and bar. Well, the food prices are overpriced, and the drinks and wine list VERY overpriced. They want 14 euros for a cocktail...now if I was at the Ritz in Paris or someplace like that maybe, but not at the pool at the Leto. If they cut back the food prices 20 percent and the drinks and wines 40 percent or so, then that would not be so unreasonable and they I'm sure would do a better business. We certainly would have eaten there or at least had a drink after dinner there but not at those prices. Also, at 230 euros, I think our unit was a bit overpriced as well, but Mykonos is expensive.
All in all, a ver y nice place to stay...if they fix the wedding reception policy and lower their food and bar prices it would be a great place to stay.
Alexandra's on the water near the windmills and Niko's in the heart of town are both excellent places for dinner.

  • Liked — The locatiion, the breakfast and breakfast area, the pool and pool area.
  • Disliked — The late night wedding reception and the unreasonable prices for food and drink .

I can't stress enough that February is a pretty terrible time to go to the Greek isles. Everything is closed and it is really boring.

That being said, we were glad to be at Leto. It's a lovely hotel and we liked our room. The lighting in the bathroom, as well as the tub could use an update. Am I the only one that loves a really nice bathtub while on vacation?

The views from the hotel are amazing. They had no room service or food on the premises, since it was off season. That really disappointed us. We will definitely stay there when we return in the regular season though. It is a lovely hotel.

  • Liked — Nice staff, nice location, great view!
  • Disliked — No room service in off season, no pay per view, very few English speaking tv channels

What a terrific place to stay on your first visit to
Greece! The room was spacious, and the balcony of every room offered a breathtaking view of Mykonos Town and the Aegean Sea. The room was very clean and quiet. The staff were quite helpful, and the breakfast was wonderful.....more American than I imagined it would be. Extremely close to the port (50 meters) and to the Town and Harbor. A bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. Fantastic experience!!!!

  • Liked — The impressive view of the Aegean Sea!!!
  • Disliked — Perhaps a bit pricey.

The hotel has very good location as it's at the edge of the centre close to the port and the local free parking area.
But the room was below average. The most annoying thing was that we had to put the keyring in a slot forn the electricity to come on and hence the air con. So everytime we were leaving the room and taking the key with us there was no electricity and the room was turning very hot again. Also, the electrics in the bathroom looked very dangerous as there were wires exposed and the bathroom was very noisy. Bizarelly there was wall to wall carpet on the floor making the room even hotter.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Leto - a room for us and a separate twin room for our adult daughters. The location could not be more perfect - all rooms have wonderful views of the harbour (unlike the pricier Belvedere) and the hotel is just a 1-2 minute walk to all the restaurants, clubs and shops. The taxi and buses to the beaches are only 2-3 minutes away. The staff was charming and always helpful. Laundry was done on the premises and was back in a few hours. Breakfast (included in the room cost) was great and plentiful. The pool was great. And even though it is so close to town, the hotel itself is very quiet. The rooms were large and very nicely furnished.

I would defnitely recommend staying here - the few hotels out at the beaches require constant travel into town for good meals and shopping etc. We also took a 1/2 day trip to Delos, which is a must - one of our favorite historical sites in all of Greece.
