“Not bad but not good either”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

Like some other reviewers we were perched on the table for two on the left hand side of the entrance: the place felt OK at first not quite in amongst the madding crowds of further round the town. The waiter was one of those you'd like to avoid - like I only wanted one stuffed tomato but no I couldn't have that as they only dished them out in twos! The local wine was actually quite good. We also had some green beans which were nice and not too stringy but half the quantity would have been fine. The tzatziki was good but then you can't really go wrong with that. I couldn't honestly recommend Antonini's and I certainly would not return but then after not having been to Mykonos for 40+ years before this visit I won't be returning to the island anyway!

“Good Taverna on the Edge of Mykonos Touristlandia”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

Walking around Mykonos and staying away from the tourist traps of Little Venice, we lucked upon the Taverna Antonini off the square near the taxi stand. According to the waiter this is the oldest operating restaurant in Mykonos and was here before the cruise ships landed. We were seated at the table against the wall overlooking the square and restaurant across the way. The seat is a perfect perch although a bit precarious but works for two diners. The breezes come off of the water and cool you as you dine.

We had grilled oyster mushrooms to start but these were a little tough and had the taste of sterno. Also a chick pea dip which although nice was really measly for 8 euros. The service was perfect and one of the waiters stated he had worked there for 30 years. I would also recommend anyone dining here to go back into the restaurant and look at the specialities in the glass cases which although made ahead look delicious and give a better idea of the cuisine than the touristy glossies in the menu which is in six languages and I usually avoid.

For main courses, I chose the veal casserole from the display and my guest had a mixed seafood grill. The veal casserole was quite nice and the meat was tender. The seafood was a bit over fried and greasy and the calamari was a bit huge. We had a nice carafe of house white wine with the meal for 14 euros. They brought us a gratis dessert which was some sort of barley pudding in syrup (not tasty) and shots of a local liqueur which was good.

To conclude, the prices are decent, the service excellent and the food beats the tourist traps around the corner. Look in the display case and choose carefully and you will have a relaxing and enjoyable meal away from the hubbub of the cruise shippers.

“Good location”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

if you're wondering around the main square in mykonos town, you will notice this place setting back in the corner, and that's what we did, and it was on a list of places we had to try, so we tried it. It was ok, nothing stuck out in our minds, but it was good, and not too expensive. the service was fair and they had WiFi, which was weird, but which we took advantage of. We only ate in 2 places in Mykonos, so our view of the town is a bit skewed, but this place was fine, really not bad at all.

“Good greek food in a friendly atmosphere”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

Welcoming, laid back athmosphere, very friendly waiters. Our traditional greek main courses (Veal Casserole and Mussels Saganaki) were very delicious (and the picture menu was actually helpful for this choice). The appetizers were dissapointing though (eggplant salad seemed to contain garlic only, "fava" was less tasty than in Santorini). The small dessert on the house tasted weird.

“friendly service and good value”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

We had dinner here on 5 May. I had fried saganaki cheese followed by moussaka. My partner had garlic mushrooms and then a lovely fish platter. The food was very nice and the waiters somewhat friendlier than in other places in Mykonos. The bill with three Cokes came to 53 euros. Afterwards we got bits of Greek sweet desserts with a couple of bits of bananas and oranges.
I would thoroughly recommend it.
