Porto Mykonos Hotel
Ranked #59 of 82 Hotels in Mykonos Town
Reviewed July 18, 2009

we stayed 3 nights at Porto Mykonos at end of our journey in Greece. It was situated above the old port and at beginning of town, so it was fun to see the luxury yachts come and go from your balcony, if you manage to get a good room on the town side or above the reception area!

Staff was friendly and helpful. They seem to make you feel comfortable as you check in by offering a glass of Champaign by their beautiful balcony and claim to offer the best service possible....anything you need anytime!!!! Their restaurant closes 4-7 pm, so no food is available but breakfast was adequate and good to see that they serve until 12 pm! Other menu items are expensive...so you are paying for convenience.

Housekeeping service was poor!!! One evening we requested towels finally arrived after 45 min, which we were told it would take just 5 min. We were told they make early evening rounds, but never saw the difference when we returned to our room.

We left in such a hurry to catch ferry and forgot to take some expensive Souvenirs left in in a bottom drawer of the cabinet. As soon as we realized we were missing them, we called the hotel. We were told to call back after 5 pm, but I was calling at 10 am!!!!! After talking further, I was able to convince them to double check quicker as we were leaving the country. I was told that management along with housekeeping check the room thoroughly after guest leaves and they did not find anything. They did not seem responsive over the phone to go and check within reasonable time. It took 4 additional phone calls within that day and a big headache and finally was told that they double checked the room and did not find anything. I realize I should have double checked the room before we left. I was expecting more responsiveness and demonstrating the great service they were claiming from such 4 star and not so cheap hotell!!!! I know that items left behind are replaceable if we want to go back to places we previously visited in our trip, but the impression they left in my mind was not so pleasant. So we are not going back!

We arrived at the Porto Mykonos after spending a couple days in Athens. Upon arrival, they welcomed us with champagne and letting us know they were at our disposal for whatever we needed. This was our honeymoon, and my only issue was that our room was in the back of the hotel, not exactly overlooking the harbor. The view was still spectacular, but we would have preferred to have been closer or have a front room without looking at the back of other rooms. The town, was within walking distance and had a lot of little shops that you could find nice things to purchase.

The room itself was very clean and sunny. The hotel restaurant was surprisingly good, eat there at least one night. The lobby area was very nice to sit and relax and have a coffee or drink.

We had a seafood dinner in Little Venice along the seaside, and had dinner at a place called Raya that had spectacular mussels, you should check it out!

This hotel has a great location & a beautiful setting on a hillside overlooking the Old Harbor & Mykonos Town; the sunsets from the Lobby Veranda (& also our room's deck) were stunning! Upon arrival we were greeted with champaign, a nice touch after a very long trip from the west coast of the USA. It is an easy 5" walk from the town center. Our room was kept exceptionally clean and we were given fresh towels every evening in addition to the morning clean; we had a king bed which was very comfortable. The room was nice but not extravagant as was the bathroom. The staff was friendly, fun, and full of information and answers to our many questions! We would defintely recommend this hotel to any of our friends, and will stay again if we get to return to Mykonos!

The Mykonos Porto Hotel is a very nice, clean and friendly hotel. It is immaculately clean, the staff is very helpfull and pleasant. The breakfast is your typical Greek continental breakfast. The view of the port is very pleasant and entertaining, watching the ferry's and cruise ships coming and going. The sunsets are magnificant from your balcony. The location is perfect, just far enough from the noice of the city and bars. 10 minute walk from the city core. The only negative is the rooms are smallish (typical of Europe) and the shower is very/very small causing your bathroom floor to be wet all the time. Otherwise this is a great hotel. Unfortunately Mykonos was a disapointment as it is just a party place and other than good restaurants, in my opinion has little to offer. It does not even come close to Santorini, Crete and Paros for charm and overall as a tourist destination, especially when the large cruise ships come in (3 at a time) making the city very busy and unfriendly as the cruisers are rushing all the time to cram everything they can in just a few hours.

We just came back from a trip to Greece, stayed at this hotel when we were in Mykonos, it was just fantastic. Superb service, champagne on arrival, stunning views from the room, good breakfast ... would love to go back. Kelly, Theodore, Lucas and Spyros made it unforgettable for us. Thank you guys!

The service and hospitality at Porto Mykonos were wonderful. They could not have been nicer. We were greeted warmly, and when the room was not quite ready we were offered Chanpagne on the deck overlooking the sea and the town of Mykonos. Our room was very nice and we had our own pirvate baclony overlooking the sea. ( You could have breakfast served there for 5 E). The breakfast was a wonmderful full breakfast included in the price. We also had a delicious dinner at the hotel.
The staff and manager were very helpful with suggestions of restaurants, things to do, etc... I would love to go back and stay for a week.
April was early for their season, and it was a bit chillier than I had planned. On the up side it wasn't crowded, and all the restaurant owners and shopkeepers were happy to see you and to chat.

I stayed here the end of April, begining of may. The hotel is beautifull from the outside. The lobby has a really nice lounging area and wrap around balcony. The view could be better. the view from the hotel is the sea, but there is this huge construction site below and the new port. The ferries dock right in front of the hotel. Our room was also extremely small with a tiny bathroom . The shower barely gives room to move around. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. I expected a lot more for $250/night. Mykonos town is not too far of a walk (about 3-5 minutes) but the walk back up to the hotel is exhausting beacuase its on a very steep slope.
