“Niko's Taverna”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2014

It is a very nice place, situated behind the Town Hall; I ate moussaka, I saw the pelican passing near me. The staff is friendly and fast. The menu is rich enough. I found here sea urchin roe (some rare and expensive specialty than I wanted to try from long time). The taste is not very good but worth to satisfy your curiosity.

“Chicken not cooked!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2014

Lovely location, great when the Mykonos pelican walks past! But there it ends. Overpriced tourist taverna, My souvlaki was good and the accompanying salad was good. My friend had the chicken souvlakia and all as ok until the last three bits - raw in the middle. He showed the waiter and who couldn't give a stuff. We thought at least the bill would be reduced, but no. Last time we go there. I hope this was just a one-off but has put my travelling companion off forever now - he works in health and safety................

“Tourist trap with friendly service and under par food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2014

After avoiding this place for years( my friend) we went here. This is in the middle of the town and is packed with tourists. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was not so good with an exception, the tzatziki was very good( almost the best i have had. The fried squid where good but a bit chewy, lacked lots of salt. The grillet haloumi cheese was too burned and way too much balsamico reduction served with grilled vegetables. The lamd souvlaki was a dissaster, we got stick with pieces of extremly dry and chewy lamb served with, rice, pommes frites, carrots, squash, cherry tomato and red cabbage. Who found out that this is a good combo, my god this was very bad. We paid and left, will never return. Not so expensive actually.

“WONDERFUL GREEK FOOD”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2014

Had lunch here while on a shore excursion. We sat next to a Greek lady who lives in the US and she recommended what to eat. We had grilled calamari, baked vegetables in garlic tomato sauce, and baked white beans in tomato sauce. All selections were excellent, and the grilled calamari was exquisite. The service was quick even though it was lunch and they were crowded. There is a cover charge for the bread and sparkling water. I guess this is a European custom since we paid a cover charge at restaurants in Venice. It was not excessive. It was a wonderful experience and cannot wait to go there again.

“WHY do you do this???”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2014

The food here is very good, and this was to be a 5* review...UNTIL we got our bill.

First-time tourists to Greece beware: It is standard practice for [many] restaurants to present bread and bottled water on you being seated. This is (usually) NOT free-of-charge. IF you want this...great. If you don't, then send it away...but DO CHECK YOUR BILL, because many will "have a lapse in memory" and charge you for these items you did not have.
THIS is precisely what happened at this restaurant, and trying to get this taken off our bill (and the sour-puss look at our "discovering it being added" to our account), spoiled our outing.
WHY do this?? Why NOT break away from the scammer restaurants and concentrate on supplying your great food instead.
