We had a 'sunset drink' here: the view is absolutely breathtaking and the places decor is modern and welcoming.
However the prices are rather on the step side. We paid 14€ for a non-alcoholic fruit cocktail.
For dinner i can also recomend 'Merolayia' which is 3min further down, with a similar view and offers great greek mezzes to a fraction of
the price.

Dear Gaserati,

Thank you for writing a review on GOLA. We are flattered by your positive remarks on the view and décor. Nevertheless we would like to draw your attention to the fact that a non-alcoholic fresh fruit cocktail costs at GOLA 8 € and not 14 € as, certainly without intention, you wrongfully quoted. We would advise you, for the sake of Tripadvisor’s readers, to be more accurate and precise in your next reviews. We thank you as well for your recommendation for Greek mezzes places; we also love Greek cuisine, and for that reason we opened a traditional Greek Eatery in Mykonos Town, Bakaló (already listed in Tripadvisor), that in less than one year has already conquered its fans. However if someone is expecting Greek mezzes and shows up at GOLA, well he will inevitably be disappointed, as he is simply at the wrong place. Once again we thank you for your feedback and we hope you enjoyed your stay in Mykonos.

This was the “gran finale”; spectacular location, friendly and cool waiters (in how many sleek restaurants like this have you ever seen a smile?), fantastic soundtrack from the dj (we even got some of his cds), and last but not least a real feast for your mouth! I can only recommend it! Yes, it wasn’t cheap, but you pay for what you get, and this is not always the case these days …

First time was last year when I visited Gola and I repeated it in few days, so this year was my biggest wish to go back and at the end l did 3 times during my stay on Mykonos. I know a bit from hospitality and I can tell that this is far the best quality, the best flavors and ingredients. Owners are there all the time and you can feel, that here someone keep his eye on it, and no mistakes. It is their baby. Service is really friendly and flexible so you are still in "mykonos mode" but you have the quality and the luxury of experience and good time. I love it!

You enter this chic and glamorous Italian restaurant via the open kitchen, which I always think is an encouraging sign, to find a stunning panoramic view over the town and out to sea.

A bread box with dips is presented though no one asks if you want it - at €5 per head by the way - that's a first at that price! Actually good enough to be worth paying for.

The menu is complex in that the chef is trying VERY hard. Eyebrow raising prices, average first courses €25 and main courses €35. OK let's see what he can do for that. A fairly standard tiane of raw tuna, tomato and avocado - good - and a pyramid - literally in a three level glass container - of marinated raw fish: salmon with such an assertive flavouring that it obscured the tase of the fish; prawns marinated in orange juice, I can't make up my mind how correct that is since the menu states that prawns are frozen! A third level which eludes me.

Pasta main courses, ravioli stuffed with king crab, with a deeply flavourful tomato sauce, but with an overbearing fennel flavour in the ravioli so that the crab could have been any fish. I had a risotto with shrimps, and not too many of those, but the key ingredient of this risotto was summer black truffle, not grated or sliced,  but incorporated into the rice creating an incredibly rich dish that I could not finish. With a bottle of Tuscan rosé, no desserts (except the charming selection of mignardises offered) and without service, the bill was €188.

I hate to be negative when so much effort goes into creating such original dishes but a less heavy hand and more reliance on perfect ingredients would be so much more pleasing to this correspondent. Perhaps on a small seasonal island there's just not the availability?

Dear HenryTis

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about GOLA. At GOLA we always welcome critics, and we thank you for your comments, that we will discuss with our staff in order to improve ouserselves. We were flattered that you granted to GOLA such a detailed and analytic description, compared to other Mykonos reviews you wrote, and we consider the time and efforts you reserved to us as a recognition of the constant efforts that at GOLA we make in order to grant the best quality to our guests, and let them spend a pleasant moment with us. The quality of our food and our clients’ happiness, are in effect, our priority n. 1. Our decision to daily bake our own bread, focaccia and grissini, and to serve complimentary amuse bouche at the beginning of the meal, and mignardises at the end goes into that direction. Certainly, being a West End restaurateur yourself, as you say in some other reviews, you must be aware of how difficult, challenging but at the same time rewarding this profession can be. And no need to say to you that quality has a cost, and a corresponding price. Just one remark on some minor aspect of your review: in the king crab ravioli there is no fennel, but a variety of homegrown herbs from our garden (thyme, oregano, rosemary etc ..... quality gain ....) ; probably its freshness can be overwhelming sometimes, and we passed the information to our chef in order to get the right balance in this best seller dish. Once again we thank you for your comments and we wish you can get such helpful reviews yourself for your venues.
