I stayed here for 9 nights in June with my husband. This was our second trip to Mykonos and we decided to try a new hotel (last time we stayed at Mykonos Bay Hotel which we would highly recommend, especially if you choose a room with a sea view). We were attending a wedding on the island and had quite a few friends also staying in Mykonos that week all at different hotels which gave us a useful comparison.
Firstly, you need to be aware that this hotel is quite far away from Mykonos town – we are in our early 30s and are both fairly fit yet still the walk took at least 20 mins. We knew this before we booked and decided it wouldn’t be a major issue for us as it was such an affordable rate (we paid £70 per night). The actual distance isn’t too bad (if you look on Google maps it doesn’t seem like a long walk) but the route you have to take is a nightmare. To get into town you have to walk down a dirt track on a steep hill with very poor lighting. Every time we had to go into town (most days – sometimes even twice a day) we dreaded the walk to town and felt like we just had to ‘get it over with‘. This isn’t something that you really want to be a feature of your holiday! So I would say that is the main reason why I won’t return to stay at this hotel. You can get a taxi into town for about 5 Euros but reception weren’t always very helpful when we tried to order one. After the first few days of our trip we got so bored of doing the walk back to the hotel from town up the very steep hill that we decided to always get taxis back from town which was a great decision! But you will need to factor this in to your budget if you choose to stay here and take taxis a lot.
To summarise the rest of our thoughts on this hotel…
-Lovely big swimming pool with a (distant) view of the sea and just enough sun beds for everyone.
-Great value if you are looking for a nice enough hotel on a budget.
-Fairly quiet – when lying by the pool it was very chilled out and peaceful except for the last few days of our trip when a large group of teenagers came to stay and made a lot of noise shouting and running around the pool area.
-Clean rooms and fresh towels every day.
-Nice balcony with sea views – however, we had a shared balcony with the room next door so if they were out on their balcony we didn’t feel like sitting out on ours as it would have been a bit like joining them at their table in a restaurant!
-Very uncomfortable pillows, and as is quite usual in Europe our ‘double bed’ was actually 2 single beds pushed together which is indicative of the fact it was a budget 3* hotel.
-Breakfast was terrible – a tiny selection of food and what was on offer was so basic. The milk for cereal was served hot (strange) and the rest of the food was unhealthy and unappealing.
-Reception service – there wasn’t usually anyone very helpful at reception although one lady who worked there was very nice and tried to help us with anything we needed.
-Air-con unit in our room broke down but they did fix this the same day.
