“A little gem”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

If you hadn't been told about Joanna Nikos place you may well miss this little gem of a traditional Greek taverna. It is tucked away on Megali Amos but easily acessible from Mykonos town by a short walk from Fabrika. It has a rustic feel and unlike a lot of restaurants in Mykonos it does not rely on style and glamour for its popularity. We took some friends who usually frequent the more fashionable eating places and they were absolutely won over by Joanna.Great food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere is what draws a very loyal clientelle back time after time. The charming old building is cosy even in the roughest winds from the sea. You may be stuck for choice for food since there is a whole page of starters, most for around €5 or less. Properly cooked traditional greek food prepared by hard working ladies in the kitchen .The sort of Greek food you long for when you go home to your own country. The local wine, which we drank quite a lot of, was absolutely the best local wine I have ever tasted as was the chocolate crunch pudding. Prices are more like the old drachma days and very reasonable. Booking is recommended although if you are a small party they will try very hard to fit you in. Joanna, quite frankly, is brillant and mother to all of her customers. If you are not sure what to have, Joanna will definately know what you want. She is never wrong! You must go and try Joanna'sNikos place to experience it for yourself.

“Best Greek taverna in the area”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

If you love Greek food this is the place to go.
Joanna and her girls deliver a traditional Greek service with the most amazing cook, cooking delicious Greek recipes that explode in your mouth with every bite.
Most welcoming atmosphere and incredibly sensible prices the team delivers an amazing experience from the time you walk in.
We mostly had lunch there daily and also dinner, every time we left with our bellies full and completely satisfied
A big well done to the cook, unfortunately can not recall her name and also the girls which serving us with smiles always.
Please go and experience what we have as we will return again for more.
Thank you and see you again.

“A must do when in Mykonos”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

I've been coming to Mykonos for 12 years and it's safe to say I was disappointed. Not with the restaurant, but with myself for having never found Joanna's Nikos before. I thought I knew this island well, but clearly not well enough.

It's small and intimate and has an atmosphere as warm as a Mykonian evening.

Tucked out of the way at Megali Amos, within a few minutes of town and right by the sea, dinner is served with the relaxing sound of the waves behind you. Combine that with friendly staff and Joanna herself, who is warm, friendly, efficient and has a way of making you feel that you've popped into her home for a spot of dinner.

Some restaurants in Mykonos prefer style over substance and if you fancy over the top pricing and bland fayre, then that's great, but Joanna's couldn't be more the opposite. The food I would rate as amongst some of the best meals i've had on the island and can definately recommend the stuffed chicken, stuffed calamari and the chocolate crunch dessert! So good was the fayre here, that we changed our plans for the next night and came straight back with some other friends.

Starters are also extremely reasonably priced, in fact, so much so, that I thought I had been given a menu from ten years ago the prices were so good. To me, it showed that unlike the rest of the island Joanna is out to make your night out fun, not fleece you for your cash.

Rather selfishly, I did not want to write this review. Mainly because I want come back here next year and not find it full. A reservation is pretty much essential, because it's very busy, but you won't be disappointed.
