July 2017 - The apartment itself was suitable for our needs, clean and tidy with plenty of space for our luggage. There was a ceiling fan in each of the three rooms, with two extra large floor fans which we used for the kids rooms. The fan in our own bedroom was squeaky, so we had to run it on half power, so didn’t get as much cool air as we would have liked, but the kids were ok in their rooms. It was very hot at night, so needed the fans on all night. Couldn’t leave doors open with lights on at night as cockroaches would visit. There is a flight of stairs up to apartment so not suitable for everyone. The wifi was not working when we arrived (kids most unhappy), but we managed to fix it ourselves as had been renewed before our arrival but cable not inserted properly (kids happy again). Laura (owner) was most helpful regarding the internet but we just managed to beat her to fixing it. It was lovely to have a washing machine therefore not having to take a pile of dirty washing home. The apartment is situated in a gated complex making you feel safe. The pool bar is situated at top end of complex (other end from apartment). Very friendly management, but only serves limited food and closed on a Sunday. There seemed to be a lack of sun loungers to go around everyone (luckily it wasn’t too busy beginning of July so we always seemed to get a couple no matter what time we arrived), but they were the most uncomfortable sun loungers we have ever used. There was an abundance of pools/water falls – kids enjoyed splashing around.
We are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children aged 10, 12 and 14). We hired a car for the duration of our holiday – 12 days (which we were glad of), but sat nav or google maps does not direct you to the location very easily (only 15 minutes from Tenerife South Airport). We were to meet Laura (owner) but went past actual location and around in circles 6 times before we eventually found it. We thought there was parking within the complex but it turned out there was only street parking or a car park around the corner. We did not choose the street parking as unsure if our hire car would survive unscathed when we witnessed others parking there. It was fine in the car park.
Handy location for beach, plenty of restaurants and Siam Water Park. Beach was only 5 minutes walk away - black sand, so not for everyone (our kids included). Most of the restaurants served pretty much the same menu, although Chinese across the road was excellent as was Miguel Angel Restaurant just further along. Did not enjoy Aberdeen Steakhouse (chicken was frozen – replacement was not much better) or Wigan Pier (everything I ordered was not in stock – about 5 different meals on our last day.) There was a 24 hour supermarket across the road selling basics, but bigger supermarket only 5 minutes drive (possible to walk if not carrying too many heavy bags or frozen food). Free bus to water park, but make sure you don’t miss bus back (will cost you a taxi ride) – best buy a fast track pass to beat the queues or you will wait around 40 mins for each ride.
To summarise – apartment was clean, tidy and suitable for our needs. Location was close to lots of amenities. Suitable for singles/couples or families. Weather was a bit cloudy at times, but may be normal for Tenerife this year. Trip to Mount Teide is a must (one hour by car) – booking essential for cable car ride. Owner was friendly and helpful although couldn’t fathom out why we were charged an extra 40 Euros for late check-in/out though.
Arrived at the chayofa country club to a staff of one, was given a scrappy map of how to get to my room. Finally found my room up 6 flights of stairs with no lighting and with my four very young children including a baby and a buggy and all my luggage with no lift and no offer of help. Got into the room and at very best on a good day cheap hostel looking accommodation with ripped curtains, broken bed, broken floor tiles, broken phone, broken shutter, broken sofa chair, ripped sofa bed, dodgy electrics, no locks on balcony doors....the list goes on.
As for the "lady" that dealt with me in the morning (Louise) standing in reception with my kids suggested it was best if I just left and asked me to remove my luggage from the room. I would hope this review is enough to discourage people booking here, it is a horrible place run by horrible people...AVOID!!!!
Beautiful apartment refurbished and full equipped. The resort has 8 dream pools and there is a bar/restaurant by the pool with heated water that serves English food
