“Superb Hotel - Great Location”
Reviewed July 1, 2008

The hotel had been recommended by a family member. We booked directly with the hotel website and requested a room over looking the pool. The hotel is a short taxi ride from the airport Tenerife South, it's about 25 euros.
On arrival you are greeted by a vast entrance, well lit and airy. The hotel reception was very helpful and we where in our room within minutes. We had been given a room with a view of the pool, which was excellent.
The decor of the room was good, clean and well presented. We had booked half board for the stay, which entitles you to breakfast and evening meal. The range of fresh food and variety and quality was very good.
The hotel pool is a good size and due to it's location you can spend the whole day sunbathing if you wish?
The hotel has a lift from the pool area, which faces the promenade and the sea.
Once you have eat at the hotel restaurant, there is 'live' entertainment, with a piano bar, acts or quite area's to chat.

You have to hire a safe and a fridge for the room, we found a Netto along the road, to buy bottled water and drinks. There is no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms.

The hotel staff are very helpful and could not do enough to ensure our stay went smoothly.

Heading out from the hotel via the pool area, on leaving the lift, going left takes you into the busy commercialised toursit traps of Plaza del America's. If you persist and ignore the holiday reps, it's an enjoyable coastal walk to Los Cristianos, which is the next town.
If you turn right and head west, this is a much more enjoyable coastal walk, which takes a two hours. There is an excellent beach at Casa del Duque and then it brings you to a small port of La Caleta, there are some excellent restaurants, with sea views.

I would highly recommend this hotel, for families and couples.

Stayed at this hotel 6th - 20th June. We are both in our fifties and when booking requested a high floor with a pool view. On arrival at app, 19.30 there was no problem with checking in and the room was 3029 on the 3rd floor. Beautiful views of the pool area and also the sea and a sunset you could watch every night (weather permitting). There were two big drawbacks If you wanted to go to bed early there was little chance of you sleeping as every sound could be hearted from the entertainment, so you may as well attend or go out until about 00.15, And secondly when you eventually turned in for the night the bed was the most uncomfortable WE have ever had the pleasure or using. It was impossible to turn over, get up to use the bathroom without awakening your partner or anything else for that matter without it making the rudest noises imaginable. I could hear the person in the next room snoring, so if they could hear my bed they probably thought someone was suffering from a chronic case of flatulence for the length of their stay.
I was a tad disappointed with the very basic room, and the lack of a second door in your room to cut down on the noise this especially so as the entrance to the hotel was quite impressive, and for that reason I would only rate this hotel from a room point of view as 3*. Location was Ex. Food was good (if not repetitive on occasions) Queues for evening meals minimal (if you were kept waiting it was never for long), But I did find the service to replenish food items a little slow. The biggest rip off is the amount you have to pay for a fridge
and even after requesting another room card so you can leave it in the switch The Room service pull it back out so it is not switched on. So you can guess I played POP with reception and I had no trouble afterwards. Another gripe is the lack of electrical points none spare in fact. Do yourselves a favor and make a small extension to take with you especially to charge your phone or camera batteries pull out the lamp by the fridge the one that is worked off the switch by your bedside cabinet and use that. Sun beds no problem Pool area no prob.but do wear something on your feet (can be slippery if the floor is wet ) Entertainment not bad, Loro Park a good day out, Mt Teide worth a visit and the
cable car worth the ride. Would we go back? YES but not to room 3029. If you are lucky to be on holiday when a Drag act called Wicked and Twisted are at the hotel make an effort to see them cause they are BRILLIANT and if you don't laugh your probabily "dead"

  • Liked — position, general cleanliness of main areas, proximity to promenade affording easy walking in both directions
  • Disliked — Dated bedroom furniture, extremely noisy and uncomfortable bed, and room cleanliness especially tops of pictures, architraves and wardrobe shelves

Guayramina Princess Hotel
Date: June 2008
We have just returned from a two week holiday at the Guayramina Princess. We had a good holiday but were not at all impressed with our room! We are a couple in our thirties with two wee girls one aged four and the other aged one. We had a family room which was not very big and required upgrading. On arrival we were not happy with the room and I spoke to the Thompson Rep at the welcome meeting who said there were no other rooms available till the Friday. (this was Wednesday) I went back on Friday and was told again that there were no other rooms available till the following Tuesday. We had asked to be upgraded to a suite. The Thompson rep, Peter told us that he would let us know on the Tuesday about the upgrdade and that he would come and see us to save us going back and forth to the office! Tuesday came and at 5pm we went to see him and he had no idea who we were until we asked him about our upgrade! He then went ot see reception and funnily enough everyone that could help us had left for the day!! When asked why he had not come to see us he said he forgot and that they had 750 guests to deal with in the hotel! We never ever got our upgrade so just had to put up with our wee, pokey room with noisey air conditioning! To top it off we were told about not getting our upgrade by a riduculous letter put under our door from the supposed team leader Mikeala! I was so disappointed with Thompson that I will avoid travelling with them in the future. The jids entertainment was ok but not great. However the food was excellent, the staff were so freindly and helpful and the pool area was lovely! Costa Adeje needs a bit of work. Alot of nice restaurants but a lot of tacky places as well.

Just returned from an 11night stay at this hotel and can honestly say it was great. All public areas are clean and bright and the staff are friendly and helpful but it is not a Platinum rated hotel more like a good 4*.
When we arrived we were told our room wasn't ready so we had a refreshing complementary drink in the bar area while we waited. I think it is pot luck which room you get on arrival and it can make or break your holiday.
Let me explain: The hotel is built on a slight hill and the rooms above the reception level start with either 1000,2000,3000 or 4000. If you are lucky you will get one of these rooms and have a fantastic view over the area and get to use the glass lifts as seen in the brochure. The pool area ,however, is on level 4 which is 1 floor below the reception which is level 0 - get it? Neither did we. Anyway, if you get a room number in the hundreds you will be in the annexe part that looks like it was added on at a later date. These rooms are situated below the pool area in a 'horse shoe' shape. All i can say is ask for a high floor when you book. We were in room 329 (level 3) 1 floor beneath the pool.
The room was bright and airy and the maids did a wonderful job cleaning everyday. The only disappointing thing was that the bedside lamp and wall light were not connected to the mains, our balcony light did not work and there were a lot of slats missing from the pull down bed. We reported these to reception and the lamp was sorted quickly but nothing else. Didn't ruin our holiday but not really what i would expect in a 'Platinum' rated hotel. Our view was the wall of the tennis courts of the hotel next door. I can understand why previous reviews have said some rooms are not acceptable as we wouldn't have wanted to be on a lower level to be honest. There is no natural light ,obviously because of the pool hence the corridors are quite dingy.
The restaurant is clean, staff helpful and friendly. The food is great, there is lots of choice and there is always 3 chefs cooking every night a fish dish, meat dish or bbq choice of the night. We had trout on our first night - beautiful. There is always the hot plate option as well full of cooked meats, chips, pasta etc if you want as well as soup and cold starters. Drinks are quite expensive though and we paid around 10 euros every night for 4 drinks (2adults,2 children).
The pool area is lovely but beware the floor can get very hot and is extremely slippy. Wear a pair of flip flops. The sunbeds are great but i don't think there are enough to go round for the amount of guests in the hotel. You get the usual 'towel layers' at the crack of dawn so if you want a spot you will have to join in i'm afraid.
Can't comment on the entertainment as we ventured out of the hotel at night just for variety but there was always acrobats, tribute shows on everynight if you enjoy that sort of thing. There are some great bars if you wander out of the hotel via the beach door which you get to by using the lifts by the pool. Turn left and you can walk to Playa Las Americas - not recommend as you get hassled all the way by bars wanting your business. If you turn right you can have a pleasant stroll to a more upmarket area around the coast which is lovely. In the area just outside the hotel you will find plenty of good, cheap bars and restaurants - cheapest beer 99c a pint! Best bars we found were Charlie's Bar and The First and Last Bar (they have ps2 and xbox's for the kids to use while you unwind with a drink).
Overall we had a great time and would definitely return to this hotel and resort but would ask for a high floor.

Have just returned from two weeks at one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed at. On arrival were allocated a room overlooking the road where buses dropped off new guests and was very noisy, we didn't even unpack, reception were surly and off hand saying the hotel was full and no other room available, we persisted we wanted the room changed and next day were offerred room no. 1004 on the first floor (according to reception and Thomson rep) that this was the only room available overlooking a cacti garden, white wall and adjoining hotel, immediately over the entertainment room. All rooms faced an open gallery looking down on to the reception area and staircase, the noise echoing from early morning until well past midnight. The rooms were quite roomy except for the bathroom which was cramped and the shower screen fixed making it an accident waiting to happen. Our tiled floor was not cleaned the whole two weeks.

I'm still not convinced that the reps were willing to help and have become quite good at playing lip service for the hotel. You pay top price for a 4 T hotel which should be a 3T. The dining room was a shambles, queues going in and out. Although we were impressed with the fresh cooked steaks every night which was the only food that was hot. Although there's more to a holiday than food.

We are an elderly couple celebrating our 25th anniversary which was ruined. To cap it all, our flight home was for 4.15 am and the coach transfer did not even turn up!! Be aware, that no Thomson reps are available should there be a problem after 7.30 pm even the 24hr service was not available we had to get taxis to the airport ourselves which cost us 30 euros, if this should happen to you remember to get a receipt, we were in a panic and forgot. This involved at least a minimum of 30 families with children who had to get taxis.

After years of travelling all over the world and staying at some Hotels with less Stars, our expectations of this hotel were high, definitely NOT A PLATINUM Glad to get home.

We stayed at the Guayarmina Princess for an 11 night break at the beginning of May 2008.
We are a 30year old couple and 3 year old daughter and have to say that overall this hotel was really excellent. It is in a brilliant location with a lovely pool area. The hotels public areas were maintained to a very high standard and the entertainment (esp for our 3 year old) was good too.
We were half board and the food was very good with lots of choice. It was constantly refilled and there was lots of variety - even for us as a health conscious family. The cakes, ice cream and other puddings were amazing too!
However, there are some rooms in this place that are just not acceptable. When we first arrived, we were allocated a room in the depths - dark, dingy and noisy. However, we did not even unpack and fortunately we were able to moved to a much better room overlooking the pool.
We will consider going to this hotel again in the future, but would definitely either pay a room supplement to ensure a good room or request a high floor or no noise.
Overall, this is a lovely hotel in a lovely situation. Highly recommended.

My fiance and I enjoyed a nice winter holiday getaway in Tenerife at the Princess Guaryamina. We weren't sure what to expect being that we're Americans and haven't stayed in a resort on this side of the hemisphere, but the overall experience was quite nice.

The beach was a short 2 minute walk from the resort - which I think is one of the nicer, less crowded 'black-sanded' beaches in the area. Costa de Adeje and particularly Playa des Americas are a bit soulless - Fish & chip shops and pubs a-plenty. That being said, the resort has a nice pool area, comfortable and clean rooms and a nice restaurant. (although after 7 days of eating there, it got a bit old). As a comparison, last year we stayed at the Riu Palace Mexico in Riviera Maya and it blows this place out of the water.

The Princess is a pleasant resort and great place to come enjoy some sun and relax - I think it lives up to it's 4 **** standards but exotic and luxurious it is not.
