Very short: great food, big rooms, location good only if you have a car, 15 minutes from the beach, for families...

Me & my boyfriend (both late 20's) booked a weeks holiday at the beginning of June to stay all-inclusive at the Fanabe Costa Sur Hotel. I just wanted to say that I highly recommend the hotel & the area for anyone looking to go on a good holiday.

Even though we were all inclusive, we tended not to eat lunch at the hotel, or to eat our evening meal every night as we do like to venture out, but if you have kids, I reckon it is ideal to keep the cost down! We ate breakfast there every morning. When we did eat in the restaurant the food was as most Spanish hotels, nothing too different, but clean and never cold! Whenever I asked for a glass of white wine with my meal, they brought a full jug which was great!

The service in the bar was absolutely fantastic, with some good entertainment on too. If your drink neared the bottom, regardless of how busy they were, the waiters/resses were straight over asking if you wanted more! My only problem was that the free drinks finished at 11pm, as we normally went out around the area, and returned after the drinks had finished!

All in all, definitely go if you are considering it.

  • Liked — The service and cleanliness
  • Disliked — The pool overlooked by the hotel - who cares, 5 mins to the beach!

I went on holiday with my boyfriend to this hotel and absolutly loved it.
you couldn't really ask for any more from the hotel and the people that are moaning about it are just the kind of people who enjoy finding fault in things and love complaining because there was absolutly nothing wrong with this hotel.
The rooms where very clean and there was plenty of space etc. the staff could have been a bit more smiley but always catered to our needs and did their jobs properly.
The food i thaught was brilliant both me and my boyfriend couldnt get enough of it. There is plently of options as there are three big islands filled with foods for gods sake, yeah sometimes food was repeated but they cant go to mad with the food as there are alot of families that go their and want to keep the kids happy, so overal i thaught it wasnt bad at all.
the pool area is god and there are lots of sun beds etc.
overal had a great time hear and would definatly go back again loved it!!

  • Liked — everthing it was lovely
  • Disliked — how clean it was and the hotel itself was gorgeous.

We have just returned from a week at the Fanabe Costa Sur, arrived on the 6th June 2008, allocated our room which I was told was a lovely room with a lovely view, room 355 was facing the road but best of all was the corridor from the lift to the room and the room smelt of sewage. Rang reception and was allocated room 472, this room was facing the pool, okay I thought this will be really nice until my husband opened the patio doors and observed the building work going on at the pool side, they were building a bistro, so for one week we listened from 8am onwards to drilling, banging, diggers etc. Luckily we hired a car, warning if you hire a car from Orlando Car Hire, its a meet and greet service they are not situated in the airport, when you arrive at their office you have to pay upfront for a full tank of petrol and you are asked to bring the car back empty, we travelled from one end of the island to the other and still had half a tank left, so its a con, Auto Rheinsen are brilliant and wished we had used them. Back to the Fanabe Costa Sur, the staff should be offered laughing gas as the miserable faces that greeted you each morning and evening put a dampner on your meals. The food was something else, if you enjoy burgers, chicken burgers, hot dogs, pizza, concrete pork chops, fish with a million bones in it, potatoes and veg were okay but you get bored eating that all week, if you like sponge cake you will get plenty of that as they make the same sponge and cover it in tastless cream and jam in different colours but they all taste the same, and the best of all is the Mount Teide sponge cake that was made three times in one week. Would give this hotel a miss if you like decent edible food. Overall staff miserable and unhelpful, food dreadful, building work going on but nearly finished, sewage smell in the rooms allocated on the side of the hotel were the road is. Oh forgot the entertainment two pensioners who play the organ and mumble the words to songs which are totally unrecognisable and a spanish guy who plays a guitar and mumbles the songs as he does not know the words. Other than that the rooms are clean, towels are changed regularly, bedding was clean. Televison channels are only aimed at Spanish, German and Italian, only the Sky News, BBC news and CNN, not that you go on holiday to watch the television but the choice of something would be nice.

  • Liked — Not much, the breakfast was edible
  • Disliked — The hard beds, food, entertainment

I am just back from my holiday with my girlfriend last week.

Hotel
The hotel looks great and is kept to a very clean standard. The pool is large and again very clean (also their is a lifeguard which is the first ive seen on a holiday abroad) Im not sure if i was ment to but i never paid for the mats for the subeds at all.

Room
The room was great and alot better than i expected. The room was cleaned every day without fail to a high standard. A safe was avalible in the room for 12 euros a week was good value.

Food
We stayed on a half board basis. This was one area where my girlfriend and i had different points of view. I personally thought the food was good - it could have been better - but i enjoyed breakfast alot my favourite was getting an omelette made for me every morning. Dinner was a bit on the poor side with not alot of choice , i found my self eating pasta on most dinners.

Overall i had a great holiday

  • Liked — the rooms were great and the location
  • Disliked — the staff could do with some customer service training

Fairly decent hotel - food choice was varied but on the whole quite good, staff were friendly - rooms were a bit dated and could be cleaned a bit better but for the price I don't think you could complain. The main gripe that I would have is that you are charged a daily fee for a sunbed matress and you had to be up very early to get a good spot around the pool as the Germans and Eastern Europeans had their towels out as they went for breakfast - even though there were signs to stop this. But all in all an enjoyable stay

  • Liked — Location, food
  • Disliked — Charging for sunbed mattress - reserved sunbeds

We have stayed in this hotel last summer. It was very nice. Just 4 stars hotel. Good breakfast, standart room with big bed, friendly stuff. Sometimes it was a little loudly from the buses (the bus station is situated near the hotel), but it was not a problem for us.
