Gran Tacande Wellness & Relax Costa Adeje

Stayed in July 06 for 14 nights. Hotel is very spacious. Roomsare spacious as well and have descent size balconies. Brekfast is very generous with many enteries even champagne and caviar.
Dinner has descent variaty of food but tends to be a same every night. Dress code for dinner is formal althoug matre `d is very unplesent if you or your child has no long pants. They refuse to serve us a dinner as my 15 year old sun had capri pants. I guess they should inform you in advance about dress code, so guest are not emberassed in front of other guests.

Swiming pools are descent sizes for a guest population. Only problem that they are padded with white hydroisolation so on a sunny day (they are all sunny) you will have high reflaction from the water.
Entertainment program in hotel is next to zero and if there are any activity in hotel usualy there are no enough people to participate.
Nice beach is near buy as well as super market and nice shopping mall.
If you are in doubt between Sheration and Tacande book Tacande. Althoug you may concider other five star hotels in vicenity.

So, this hotel is not dreamplace but not a nightmare.

I have visited this hotel twice now - 2005 & 2006 and thought that it was excellent value for money, very clean, staff very courteous and helpful, pools immaculate, We have sampled a standard room and a jnr suite and both were very well appointed and comfortable. The hotel is very luxurious inside and out. The only complaint I would make is that the room service american hot breakfast always turned up cold...ugh! - including the coffee. Also the evening meal in the standard restaurant was bland - so we ate out several times and took lunch there instead of evening meal as we were half board. Breakfast was fab, especially when taken outside on the terrace. I intend to go there again next year as the area of Playa Del Duque is very classy - however a 15 minute pleasant stroll around the sea front walkway will bring you to Adeje - which is a little bit 'blackpool' but good fun and cheap food!

We were really pleased with the whole stay at the Tacande.
Staff were really helpful and polite and all seemed pretty much multi-lingual which is good if you dont speak much spanish.
Food was lovely as said before cava and caviar or fresh omlettes and full English breakfast. worst bit was choosing what to have!
Rooms were large, comfortable and very clean. The maid was cleanining for ages every day and did a great job then came back later to turn down and leave a yummy chocolate on your pillows. We got a sea view even though we didnt book this which was really nice,we even got the sun on our balcony for a while.
Pools were nice and always pleanty of loungers available.
Lots of nice restaurants close by. La Mirador was good with huge King Prawns and nice atmosphere and sunsets.
Overall we wouldnt hesitate to return.

Stayed in Mid may 06 and can say the room we stayed in was amongst one of the best I have stayed in for the class in Tenerife. Very spacious with a sofa and armchair as well as a huge balcony with its own sun lounger!
Bathroom also had a separate shower room, although surprisingly, no robes.
The hotel staff were very attentive and if you wanted they would carry your sun lounger mats to wherever around the pool you wanted them.
One of the few complaints would be with regards to dining. We stayed half board and whilst it was a buffet, the cooked food became very monotonous after the first few days. However, the cold buffet was really good. As elsewhere all the staff were very friendly and attentive. To be able to dine out overlooking the sea was also awesome as far as we were concerned.
The bar and entertainment felt very flat but that could be to do with the hotel not being full. Although it seems a shame that they didnt have the bar area somewhere other than a courtyard when there were such awesome views of the coast outside.
The location is also spot on. It was close enough to get to the lively areas if you wanted but sufficiently isolated to seem a world away from it all if you just wanted a post dinner stroll along the promenade by the beach.
All in all well recommended.

An excellent hotel. The food, service and overall impression were top notch. I suppose the only issue would be that you would not describe this hotel as homely (the main restaurant is huge).

Caviar for breakfast every day - what more can i say!

Recently stayed late January 2006. This hotel deserves the 5 Stars. We got a sea view room although none of the balcony's get sunshine which is a shame. Room was spotless and fully equipped and very large, cleaned daily and staff even returned in the evening to turn down the bed! Staff very friendly and when they found out it was my birthday they left a complimentary bottle of bubbly!
Breakfast was 'all encompassing'- ranging from Cava to caviar, pancakes to freshly cooked ommelettes. Tennis was available at 10 euros. Plenty of sun loungers. Adeje is definitely the better part to stay being attractive with no brash shops or noisy pubs. Some very enjoyable meals out in local eateries - Torre del Mirador has really good entertainment and lovely atmosphere. We would go back to this hotel.Taxi to airport was 22 euros and very efficient.Weather was sunny nearly every day and pleasantly warm.

I feel the title of my review is appropriate,as from the minuite i arrived i must have asked myself this quetion a million times. Having stayed in other 5 star hotels i fail to understand how this hotel gained its 5 stars.
Although my husband and i had a good holiday over the christmas period this was despite the hotel, and not because of it. The staff were rude and unhelpful at best, at one point when i complained about muisak being piped loudly outside our room at 7am i was greeted with a giggle from the receptionist, and asked what do you want me to do about it,even though i was in reception in pyjamas at the time having called twice to complain and then henceforth been ignored.
The resturants are fair but again no where near what you would find in similar 5 star establisments. The only saving grace being that there are good resturants close by, i personally thought this should encourage the hotel to be better not see it as an excuse to rest on its outdated laurels by advising you eat out.
I basically feel the hotel feels purley from the location it should warrent 5 stars, though given its nearby compettitors the hotel should realise it seriously lacks what is required for a truly 5 star experience. The hotel is very outdated, the levels of cleanliness in the rooms is appauling (on a good day) and i wont even mention the sheets (ours were dirty and contained lots of holes) ok i mentioned them, you can really tell this is a chain hotel badly managed and poorly maintained.
My advice ,save your money, go next door and experience the real 5 star experience. We did and believe me THAT really is worth it.
