First time visit to Tenerife, the land of hotels and apartment complexes! Went for the winter sun, and would have been disappointed if I wanted to visit an interesting island because this is not! We drove all around the island, saw some interesting cliffs and a volcano. Wouldn't go again.

However, to the hotel itself, if you want sunshine and a beach holiday the hotel is fine. In a nice area of Tenerife, very close to a nice shopping centre, upmarket variety.

It should be noted that the hotel does not have a private beach or private beach access. There are two pools, one which is heated and quite warm - I managed to get in it and swim on a cold day in January - and I hate cold water! Plenty of sun beds available, towels provided.

The hotel room was good - would have preferred one with some sunshine in the afternoon so maybe ask for that. The sea is quite a way off so not really worth asking for a sea view. The room had a large bathroom with full bath with shower over, separate shower cubicle and a separate toilet cubicle. Two sinks as well. There was a safe in the room (free) but no iron or board. There was also a flat screen tv and a fridge. Turn down service in the evening with chocolate. Bath robes and slippers too! Bed was a little on the hard side!

Officially wifi is free in the lobby and not available in the rooms. We managed to pick up wifi in the room from neighbouring hotels - easily on the balcony and ok in the room sometimes.

We were on bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was superb. The hotel was very busy at breakfast but we never had a problem getting a table - better because you just walked in and selected a table rather than having to queue to be seated. This worked very well. The food was superb - I can't think of anything that was not available - and if a dish became empty it was refilled almost immediately - even with only five minutes serving time left. The violin music in the morning was very pleasant.

Between the hotel and the beach (via the exit by the pool) there are a couple of restaurants and a shopping centre with a supermarket (ideal for purchasing a bottle of wine for the room) etc. Also shops selling beach clothes, shoes etc. More restaurants and an ice cream parlour can be found along a very pleasant walk along the boardwalk.

We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening but did enjoy the restaurants in Caleta (by car) as they were mainly fresh fish restaurants overlooking the sea. Also travelled to Carlos Restaurant twice (out of five nights).

Car parking was available (free) in the basement of the hotel with lifts up to all floors. Need room key card for access.

Overall the hotel was very good and would stay there again in the unlikely event that I return to Tenerife.

Nice hotel but a bit spreadout lots of walking to room restaurant and pools. Weather was cool esp in the afternoons but no heating the the room which was not comfortable also pools were freezing could have done with one of the outdoor pools being heated. Nothing to do when weather was cold. Hotel could improve to become more inviting. Nightly entertainment was ok but a bit amateur. Food excellent the highlight of the hotel.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room with sun on the balcony in the evenings

Tried and tested 5* establishment in all aspects of hotel facilities.

Room Tip: Being a solo traveller I dont consider the room location to be of primary importance

Costa adeje where this hotel is located is definitely the best location for a lovely relaxing holiday away from the madness of playa de las americas!! We had rather a shaky start to our say we were put in a double room which was more than adequate with a decent sized balcony, we decided to have a little siesta and were rudely awakened by some major building works outside, we looked outside and there was another hotel being built very close by . we contacted reception who called the manager we were then moved to a suite with great open balcony overlooking the pool and the sea. The food (we opted for half board) was of a very high standard compared to other hotels we have stayed in with a buffet type operation. El duque beach is just lovely, there are some lovely little eateries and bars. there is also a new shopping centre close by. I would not consider this the best hotel for families with young children or toddlers, but couples and older families can not fail to enjoy this hotels many qualities.

Despite its size this hotel manages to offer warm personal attention to its guests. It offers a stunning breakfast buffet which you can enjoy listening to a resident musician a wonderful start to the day. With clean and comfortable rooms and a range of amenities and activities it is a perfect holiday base. Relaxing, restful with sea views and gardens what more do you need ?

Room Tip: go for the top floors which are easily accessible via lifts

Stayed over New Year 2011/2012 stayed b&b in Senior suite- Great Location, on the edge of the Playa del Duque beach. Staff were attentive, helpful and couldn't do enough to please you (except at breakfast when they seem to be slightly stressed and very busy). Breakfast was definitely 5* -impressive with a choice of anything that you require. We did struggle some mornings to get a table as there was no member of staff to seat us (except one morning) normaly we'd just grab a waiter and ask for a table.
Rooms were really spacious, lovely huge outside balcony and grat view of the pool and sea.
No seperate toilet outside the bathroom, with 4 people in our room, the toilet was in the bathroom, which wasn't ideal.
Rooms were dark though, even though there were huge french windows in both rooms, they were very dark at night as there was definitely not enough lighting.
Main pool was too cold to go in, but at that time of year that was expected. The heated pool was salt water. Unfortunately it was too salty to go in. I found it too salty, it stung my eyes and tasted terrible. Even our 2 kids wouldn't go in it. This was a shame as it did leave them slightly bored.
Overall the hotel was good and would recommend!

Room Tip: Italian restaurant under the stairs is brilliant food!

Arrived on 23rd December at 3 in afternoon to be told our rooms were not yet ready! After about 15 mins discussion with reception staff we were finally allocated our rooms. I expected tea and coffee making facilities in our rooms but it was not to be, enquired at reception and was informed that is was 15 euro to hire just the kettle (no cups, tea or coffee) I did not expect this from a 5 star hotel. The receptionist who dealt this was very rude, and advised my friend not to book again if that's all she had to complain about. Other than that the other staff were very friendly and helpfull, the hotel and grounds were very clean and tidy. Will not be visiting this hotel again
