“Pleasant holiday”
Reviewed March 15, 2007

Stayed here for week 2-9th March.

Obviously we all judge hotels , etc differently so I can only offer notes on my stay.

Impressive hotel, although some public seating areas look a little shabby, and could do with re upholstery update. Room could , yes do with a makeover , esp for a 4 star.
The bathroom was badly laid out, making it difficult to manouvere around, mainly due to a over large sink area.

I requested a 4th floor above swimming pool and thats exactly what i got, email hotel prior to travel ( details on Iberostar site ) and request which room you may prefer. I also advised them of husband birthday and was presented with cake and champagne in room.

There were a lot of older clientele there , but this may have been due to time of year travelled. Very few children there. but even in height of summer i dont think this is a family type hotel.

The pools lovely, one of which was heated, we had no problem with sunbeds.

The steps and path down to beach is quite steep and may be difficult for the less mobile, but once there, a lovely walk in either direction to main las americas or costa adege.

The buffett meals are well laid out in a pleasant setting, although it was difficult on occasions to find empty table. Plenty of choice although if there for a forthnight would i believe be very repetative. You do have to pay for drinks on leaving at each meal time, rather than able to add them to room no and pay later.

There a a few nice bars , restaurants, karoake type just over road from hotel, the star bar and next door with titch were good fun, good measures and not bad prices.

A nice shopping centre just up road also, bought a bargain digi cam / video, from first shop on right as you go in, got full warranty and all in excellent working order, 3rd of price from uk.

BEACH TOWELS, hire at reception, 10 euro each full refund on return, saves on weight in case

TEA, awful, take your own tea bags and take down to make decent cuppa on morning, although coffee is lovely

I have gone to tenerife for years always in self catering. I decided to have a change and go to a hotel, the bourganville was a hotel that i had always wanted to try. i think my self catering holidays will have to be shared with this hotel. everything about the hotel was excellent, i am a very fussy eater, but this hotel caters for everyone. it is in an excellent location. i could not find one thing bad to say about this hotel, i think when you arrive and get a welcome glass of wine, that was a nice touch.

This hotel is NOT a four star. You only had to walk around the corner to Costa Adeje to relise this. Take one look a the MASSIVE brand new four star properties with Lagoon style pools, mini golf courses and very little tack around and you will relise you're in a 3 star hotel, at most.

Another thing is it has its address as Costa Adeje but it sits right on the border with Las Americas. i.e a few hundred metres away is a Las Americas hotel!

The reason the hotel does not deserve its 4 star rating is the rooms. They are bog standard perhaps 2 star quality. With basic twin beds, plastic sliding wardrobe doors, furniture thats falling apart, a 14inch tv and THE WORST AIR CONDITIONING EVER.

However the hotel saves itself on the public areas. They are nice, clean and very big! There are lots of areas of the hotel to explore.

The food at night was good-very good. Its probably very good if you like seafood (we dont) as 80-90% of the food at night was fish. The salads were fantastic as was the pasta dishes. Meat was little tough. Breakfast was another story though..... Dont bother. Its unorganised and busy, very busy. Its basically everyman for themselves. You can stand and be polite but everyone else just pushes in in front of you. And the food quality is not good. Frankfurters instead of sausages, poor quality bacon and unfresh breads. Its fine if want fruit and cereal im sure. Go elsewhere for something hot.

Pool areas where ok. The gardens are lovely as is the outdoor patio overlooking the sea. Not enough sunbeds. Id hate to think what the hotel is like in July!!!

Would i stay here again. NO!!! Id stay at Hotel Iberostar Grand Anthelia or Sheraton instead or one of the other hotels in that area. Its a beautful area close to the sheraton close to some action but not overloaded like Las Americas TACK central! I got a deal of €31 a night per room Full board, if you get the same its a great offer! But if its the same price as the other 4 star hotels IN Costa Adeje, Stay there!

Just returned from yet another break at the Bouganville. As usual the hotel was as good as ever. The food was varied and very well presented and even though the hotel was full, the dining room was run as efficiently as ever. The staff cannot do enough to help and assist you and each time we return we are treated like old friends.
The road works are still continuing along the road into Las Americas and it can some times be difficult as you have to walk along the beach at some points, however things are progessing and hopefully these will be completed soon

A must when visiting Tenerife is a drive up into the mounains, here you will find typical Tenerife restaurants, the food and service second to none.

Looking forward to my next visit

Stayed here for a February half term break, with my wife and 2 teenage children. Weather was great and we liked the location. Although it was a bit noisy it was easy to walk everywhere.

Public areas nice, pools dinning room bars etc. cleanest place I have ever stayed in. they really make an effort. But the bed rooms were past there prime and disappointing.

Food was just OK but like others have said the meat was poor quality. This is a popular hotel with an older clientele. As an example on our flight I would say the average age was between 30 – 50. The hotel average age was 60 plus. Consequently children did not make contact with any others.

But all in all it was a decent winter break but would not return to the same hotel again. One of my pet hates is smoking and although there is a ban it is not enforced and on the floor we where on the smell was terrible – I complained and the staff shrugged their shoulders and said what can they do!

  • Liked — nice and quiet hotel
  • Disliked — the smoking on floors

I booked this hotel after reading reviews here, but was disapointed.

Firstly, tho it is listed under Costa Adeje, it is slap in the middle of Las Americas - which is very touristy - tacky you might say. The room was OK, but the beds were much too hard for our liking. Pool area was quite nice, tho we had to leave a depost for towels. Wine with meals had to be paid cash before you left the dining room. Food was plentiful, but very variable quality - much of the meat was tough to the point of being inedible. Service in the dining room was efficient.

Four lifts were fast, but not enough for a 500(?) room hotel - often had to wait in line for several minutes, or give up and walk.

This wasnt a bad hotel, it just wasnt good enough. Barely a four star. I would not go back to Las Americas - IMO the only section of this coast worth staying in is La Caleta. But then I prefer Lanzarote - less crowded, more relaxed, more charm.
