“Lovely hotel,relaxing break.”
Reviewed April 30, 2008

Arrived home Friday 25th April after a great relaxing week in the
Adeje Gran Hotel. Had pre-requested room that friends of ours had stayed in, room was to be ready in 15 minutes, so the very kind receptionist gave us voucher for a drink at bar. Went upto room which was the one we had requested and it was very nice and spacious with plenty of cupboard space. Pool is great and towels available every day at poolside, no booking pool beds with towels as security go round just before 10am removing all towels from beds, there are plenty of beds for all!!!! We were bed & breakfast and contrary to what we had read, the breakfast was very good and we were shown to a table every morning with no waiting. There is entertainment every night in hotel if that is your thing, we were out for meal and visited the various bars for live entertainment each night. 2 restaurants we would recommend are Biancos and Crawfords.

I stayed at the Costa Adeje Gran hotel for 10 Nights in September 2007. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend this hotel to everyone.
I booked the bed and breakfast board basis as the reviews on trip advisor advised the food was rubbish! I have to say in my opinion the food is not great however my parents really enjoyed the breakfast in the morning and at the end of the day you can't please everyone!!
The rooms are big and we had a fantastic view of the pool and the sea. ( I called the hotel a few days before to request this and did get exactly what we asked for.)
Pool and Hotel grounds are really great, lots of sunbeds for everyone and you do get pool towels provided.
Lobby area is beautiful and really nice to relax in the evening listening to the entertainment.
The entertainment is first class and definitely the best hotel evening entertainment i have seen. (shows to live tribute bands it's all covered!)
The Costa Adeje market is just across the road and on 2 days a week and is great for picking up loads of bargains you don't need! Go, it's great fun!
There are lots of really nice restaurants and shops all within easy walking distance. Also the beach is a 5 minute downhill walk (10 minutes back!!!)
Overall I would recommend this hotel and don't be put off by the negative food reviews... eat elsewhere because you probably will get this hotel at a very resonable price and is worth every penny.

We enjoyed our 10 day break at Adeje Gran but it is an impersonal hotel catering for an enormous number of people. The whole area seems to be a mass of concrete and we were pleased to hire a car - Hertz - and explore the countryside to the north and go up Mount Teide. Well worth it to get a different perspective on Tenerife.
Hotel is central for a variety of food, bars and prices. One way is the tacky Las Americas but do visit the bar next to MacDonalds after 9.30pm to hear the heavy metal band Soundchaser - fantastic live performances every night. In the other direction the bars, restaurants and hotels are much more upmarket but expensive. Try Wabi Sabi's in the 'Circle'
Hotel entertainment we thought poor but we could walk elsewhere. Breakfasts are great and loads of choice but the general restuarant in the evening was not a place for a relaxing meal. Salads, bread, soups, chips, great but the veggies and meat tended to be overcooked. I would still opt for half board and eat out occasionally ... our £ doesn't go far at the moment.
Price of wine is similar to our restaurants.
Reading trip advisor comments, the rooms seem to vary, ours was fine but walls are thin, noise echoes round the balconies and we were woken every morning at 8.00am with the noise from the squash court. We too had a concrete wall we couldn't see over when we sat down and a huge palm tree obscured the light!
Staff very friendly, place is clean.

First of all the Hotel and it's facilities such as swimming pools and reception area of a high standard and the Costa Adeje area itself is wonderful so if you've already booked your stay here then relax as you will have a wonderful time.

Most of the other reviews focus on two main points- the food and the hotels 5 star rating.

My advice regarding whether the hotel is worthy of 5 stars or not is to relax about it and not spend your stay analysing whether or not each facility or service is 5 star or 4 star. Unless your royalty then you should find your stay more than comfortable. The towels in the bathroom are folded into the shape of a swan so enough said.

You also have to realise that there are seperate levels of quality within different 5 star hotels and you can usually use price as a guide. For example I paid just over €700 for a week Half Board at the Gran Hotel Costa Adeje whereas the cost for a week Half Board at another 5 star hotel in the area (Gran Melia Bahia del Duque Hotel) is €2,442. So considering the saving I'm willing to cut the Gran Hotel some slack.

Okay onto the food, as I say we went half board and in hindsight I would have changed this to Bed and Breakfast. As other reviewers have said the restaturant is buffet style and while there is plenty of choice and plenty of food for everyone you can't help getting the notion that the chap in front is going to get the last pork chop which means everyone is dashing about and you're not left with a very relaxed eating environment.

This is fine for breakfast but for evening meals it's much nicer to sample one of the local restaurants. Therefore unless your a family where the main focus is just to get the kids fed I would recommend people opt for B & B. With regards to breakfast there is everything you could possibly want and as another reviewer put it "what's the difference between a 4 and a 5 star egg?".

Finally some tips on the Costa Adeje area, when you come out of the hotel you have two main options. Go left or go down the hill directly in front of the hotel. If you go down the hill you will be taken to an expensive shopping court which could melt your credit card in no time at all. However if you go to the right of the shopping court there is a lovely walk along the coast which takes you past some lovely restaurants and cafes.

If you come out of the hotel and go left you will first be brought to a more affordable shopping centre which contains a supermarket, mini golf and arcade and some bars and restaurants. If you keep going past this shopping centre and veer to the right which will take you down a hill towards the beach you will get to another nice walk along the beach front although this time the restaurants and bars are less fancy with pictures of the food outside and Sky Sports inside and the reassurance that it's British owned but in my opinion unless your dying to watch the match your best to sample the Spanish run restaurants.

We are a family of 3 and spent 2 weeks at the hotel. It's a very large impersonal hotel. The staff are very nice, but service was slow. The buffet selection ranged from awful to quite good. Evening entertainment was generally good. The rooms were nice, but could have done with some new bed linen i.e. bed cover was old and faded and pillows were stained. We paid extra for a room with a view, however our balcony had a solid brick wall, so when you sat on your plastic chairs at your plastic table all you could see was a brick wall? Our main annoyance was the fact that although we'd paid a lot of money to stay in a 5* hotel every extra the hotel could think of was charged for, for example the safe, the gym (10 euros per hour) the tennis courts, pool tables ect. ect. We haven't come across this in other countries. The location is good and we were happy with the cleanliness of the hotel. The biggest asset for this hotel is the pool and decked area on the top floor. The views are fantastic and we never had to worry about getting a sun bed. Overall we had a nice holiday in Costa Adeje, but would stay in a proper 5* next time.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Costa Adeje Gran Hotel. When we arrived, our luggage was taken up to our room. The hotel staff were very polite and couldn't do enough for you to make sure that you enjoyed your stay there. The entrance to the hotel is beautiful. It's about a 5 minute walk to the sea front from the hotel.

Because we upgraded to a suite, we dined in the La Laja Buffett. The breakfast was very nice with a variety of different foods on offer. The evening meal was ok, but a bit bland. The salad bar however was lovely with different types of salads to chose from. We stayed half board so it was a bit repetitive.

The pools were absolutely brilliant, they are cold but they are nice. In the bar there is live entertainment at night, there is a games room for children. The cleanliness and standard of the room and hotel was absolutely outstanding!

We would have the bed and breakfast option nextime we stay there. Overall the hotel was great! We would definitely go back there and will recomend it to friends.
