We stayed at this hotel for a week over Christmas. Rooms were fine, no problems with the shower as per previous reviews. I think this is because our room had recently been updated. We were on a half board basis as the hotel is central for all the bars and restaurants. There was a lot of choice for breakfast with the usual choices. Dinner was also nice. They had two sittings for Xmas night dinner and the food was lovely. I chose the lobster and all the other seafood but they did have turkey, beef etc. In all the food was good.
We didn't stay in the hotel in the evenings for the entertainment but did notice that the chairs were all plastic and there were not enough chairs and tables for everyone, which was a shame as there were a lot of people having to stand.
We mainly went to Tenerife for the winter sun so laid in the sun every day. Due to the position of the hotel the sun didn't hit most of the sunbeds until about 11am, which was fine as not a big rush to get up and out every day lol. The one thing I was shocked about was on Xmas day the staff decided to jet wash all the sunbeds and the surrounding areas so everyone ended up queuing to get on the sunbeds. They were not available until about 11.30 which was very frustrating. Apparently they really needed to be cleaned but why not do it later in the afternoon or earlier in the morning?
In all a nice hotel but I do agree with others that it is not a Platinum. The staff were lovely and helpful.

Spent 9 nights here mid January. In excellent central location in Costa Adeje. Rooms modern and beds very comfortable. Staff are the most friendly we have ever come across. Food adequate except for Friday evenings for some obscure reason. Entertainment very good overall except for the lead singer of the Queen tribute who is not quite Freddie Mercury. All inclusive drinks are of a good standard. All in all the best overall accommodation we gave stayed at in Tenerife and we will visit again !

We stayed here from 16th December to 24th and have to say what a disappointment the stay was. We upgraded on arrival to a suite which had a huge terrace although it's well overlooked by adjacent apartments. The room itself was modern after what looks like a recent refurb and was absolutely massive. In fact a lot of the room was just wasted space as it didn't seem to serve any purpose no furnishings it could be put to better use by installing a modern stylish kitchenette. This would enable guests the option to cook for themselves and get a break from the tasteless monotonous food. We haven't been all inclusive for a couple of years but I can only think the current economic climate is responsible for the lowering of standards that these hotels seem to have adopted. It seems they now think it's ok to provide piles of cheap tasteless food, in fact we found it difficult to believe some of the simple things they made taste so bad. The restaurant had the same smell everyday and it wasn't pleasant it started to churn your stomach as soon as you went in. The all incisive drinks were awful and un drinkable we ended up drinking elsewhere most of the time. The lifts were a nightmare and seemed to do their own thing you could be in there for 10 minutes at a time and they seemed to have no working pattern. They also seemed to break down frequently we spoke to quite a few people who had ended up stuck in the lifts. The hotel itself looks modern after being recently refurbished but has no feel good atmosphere at all and the layout of the lounge area just seems all wrong, the entertainment was of the usual standard and seemed to involve a lot of audience participation so don't sit near the front if you won't to be left alone. Costa Adeje is a fabulous resort but we normally stay at the Hotel Guayarmina Princess Thomson's other platinum hotel at the resort and we cannot see how Thomson can have possibly decided the Luabay is also platinum.

Luabay
The hotel has a great location, in costa adeje. 25 min from the airport. with a few local bars, highly recommend Harley's bar, fantastic cocktails.
Only a 4min stroll down to the beach passed a few shops and a 5 min walk back, up a SMALL sloop .
You can get taxi's right outside the hotel to the left, if you wanted a more livelier night out or shopping centre. Or to the right around the corner is the bus stop, very easy to navigate, just ask for the bus time table from your rep. Plus there's a free bus which take you to Siam water park ( which is a must must do)
Everything is on your door step here!
The hotel itself has a big Main lobby, bar and dance floor which leads out onto the first floor pool area.
There are 3 pools, kids, heated and the infinity pool located one the 3rd leave ,which is Baltic, altho great for the hot summer sun.
We went in January and still braved a swim because its so picturesque..
plus the 3rd level is for adults only, it's so peaceful and with cosy comfortable sofas you can sleep all day in the warm sun.
All the main areas of the hotel are incredibly clean and shiney.
The staff are all helpful and polite, the restaurant waiters and managers are wonderful. Always greeted us with a smile and hello. Always ready to help you practice your Spanish :)
Really loved the touch of waiter service for our first drinks at lunch and dinner, felt extremely looked after.
Food was great, more then plenty available for every service and sitting.
Freshly cooked eggs and pancakes at breakfast, fish and steaks cooked in front of you at lunch and dinner, roasted joints. Plenty of fresh veg, 3 different types of potatoes, salad bar and my favourite the dessert and ice cream bar.
As much soft drink, wine, beer and even cava as you want.
Even at the pool bar there are snacks, drinks, tea and fresh cake available all day, our favourite the chocolate covered donuts (Krispy kream) yum yum
Our room was spacious and look just like the Boucher which is not always the case.
We only booked a road side facing view and we were on the 9th floor, but this was just as good or even better the pool view. We had no noise from the road, bars (which most end before midnight at this time of year) or the pool area. Plus we had a fab view over the village and towards the harbour.
where ever your room is in the hotel you are granted a sea view as your so close.
The room is cleaned Every day, fresh towels, and linen are also changed regularly.
Bathroom was a good size with a walkin shower, marble sink with plenty of space for all your lady products.
We had a flat screen tv with English channels, bonus!
My only wish was that there was a mirror by the desk, so we ladies could sit and do our make up, also that we didn't have interconnecting doors.
Even thou there was no worries about anyone getting in, it was just the noise. You can hear everything your neighbours do and I mean everything.
Plus one of the floor tiles in our room was broken and looked like I could have done some damage.
But these are very small wishes, nothing that bothered us or would stop us coming back to the luabay.
We had a fanatics time, thank you to all the staff that looked after us. we'll defiantly be back.

Stayed between 10th and 17th of January on all inclusive basis. We had a side sea view room on the 9th floor overlooking the pools which got absolutely no sun.Small room and basic only place to sit was on your bed.Public areas always spotless, food in restaurant was was good plenty of choice, can't say that for the snacks only sandwiches no hot snacks.Have been to 3 star all ins that had far better snacks. At night not enough seating, guests had to bring chairs in from outside to get a seat.Entertainment overall pretty average, drinks ok plenty of choice. If you want to get the sun first thing you will need to get your towels down by 7.30 so when the sun eventually gets to the pool about 10.30 if you don't you won't get the sun till 12.00.The big plus is the staff, they can't do enough for you.Overall enjoyed the holiday but would not go back to this hotel.Certainly not 4 star platinum.

Room Tip: Don't ask for apologies view

Stayed at the Luabay Costa Adeje early January. We arrived late and first impressions were not good. The evening meal was average at best and the waiter service not very good either. Quite unprofessional actually.
But to be honest it did improve and overall it was quite acceptable with each evening meal providing a good selection for all tastes. It may just have been a one off on the first night.

I would advise a high floor room if possible. It can be quite noisy late at night when people are returning to their rooms. This is because all the floors are of marble tiles and the slightest sounds resonate through the corridors. The doors shut loudly as well.

Great sea views from balconies and the rooms are clean.

Overall I don't think this should be a Platinum Hotel but if the price was right it would not stop me from staying there again.

Room Tip: Higher floors give you the best seaviews
