“Low cost airline pricing for Thomson 5T holidays here”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

More than 10% of holiday cost can be added for solo travellers. Cheap pricing tactics which would be acceptable at 1 or 2T or star rating hotels.
1 - Charge for a fridge in your room €4 per day - a fridge is a basic expectation in a hot country.
2- Charge for beach towels being changed €2.50 each time.
3 - Charge for a room safe for 2 weeks is high
4 - Unable to buy a single glass of wine in the restaurant. Not allowed to buy a glass of wine in the bar and take it in to the restaurant. Therefore minimum you can buy is a half bottle and you need to pay for a fridge to keep the unused half for a second night because the restaurant wouldn't keep it and give you it again the next night.
The hotel was clean and the staff were very pleasant. However, the restaurant was like school dinners queues to get in and working your way around the crowds of people around the buffet was not pleasant and definitely not a 4* service.

Room Tip: room on the pool side are much quieter than on the street side. Single travellers are given lower st...

This is the first time I have ever been on a "resort" type winter holiday so please ignore me if you have lots of experience of these kinds of trip. You will see from my profile that I generally enjoy more independent travel, but I was away with my Mum ( in her mid 60's).

The hotel is beautiful and spotless- cleaned every day. Nothing tired about it in my eyes and a guy going around with a constant paintbrush. Reception staff slightly grumpy but the waiters and food staff are brilliant- properly helpful and pleasant .

The buffet was lovely. As a pescatarian, I enjoyed the fish offering, salads and veg and found the coffee to be good and wine list fine.A massive choice of food but I imagine that if you got bored, an 'al a carte' meal locally might be nice.

The entertainment at the hotel was really good. The staff work really hard and are great fun. The Three Tenors are over rated (doing more talking than singing), but I liked the Beatles, Drifters, Mister Sister, Comedy Elvis and the Bingo. I would say that although there were a few families, in the main the clientele seemed to be older couples so the disco was not popular whilst I was there. One can access facilities at the sister hotel Guaramina just down the hill. I found lots of guests never really left the hotel except for strolls around the resort and many were frequent visitors. The Wigan pier is across the road and there is a great little karaoke bar around the corner.

The hotel is located a the top of a slight hill which neither of us found taxing. The walks along the promenade in both directions were lovely. Handy shops and a supermarket nearby in the Mall for your "Daily Mail" and other supplies.

We booked through Thompson's and were given a great room (440) on a corner overlooking pools and terrace without asking.

There was no kettle in the room which is understandable. I was irritated to have to pay E19 for wi-fi but even more cross that that was per device! It was awkward to charge electronics. I don't want to have to move furniture or balance my iPhone on the edge of the sink.- These things are essential for younger visitors so I hope the hotel gets it's act together on these policies.

All in all, I liked the place but the highlight was the cleanliness and the wonderful waiting staff.

Room Tip: 440 was great. Sun on the balcony and a (kind of) sea view. Sunset fab.

Very friendly staff, the hotel is lovely & clean but could do with modernising - certainly bathrooms! Great choice of food & bars in hotel although very sedate. If your looking for a great night out try a bar called OHANNAS bar ( front door of hotel cross road turn right , immediate left & you'll see it. 2 mins away). I can honestly say the best kir royal ever! Great friendly local staff & can not do enough to satisfy customer . Fun, trendy great bar.

Room Tip: Ask for pool view.

From the exterior the hotel looks very impressive but the interior is definitely in need of some updating. The sofas in the reception are very old and most of the springs have gone. Our room although very clean and well maintained was dated and faced the street which was very noisy with both traffic and music from bars. We did not use our balcony. One member of the reception staff (Maria) was very rude and abrupt and lacked any customer service skills when my husband complained when we were made to stand outside the restaurant in a queue for our evening meal for at least 15 mins. We were told that we should expect to queue and this goes on in hotels all over the world! On that evening we paid to eat out and on the following evenings ate at 6.30 when the hotel restaurant opened. we preferred to eat at 7.30 (peak time) but were not prepared to be treated like cattle. The food quality is average and hot food was always just warm at best. Overall in my opinion this hotel is an average 3*

Room Tip: make sure you ask for a room which does not face the street. Very noisy bars and traffic make sleep...

The hotel was excellent, staff were very efficient and very friendly. The rooms were large, well laid out and extremely clean, with towels etc. changed daily. The restaurant was spacious (but also quite busy) and the selection of food was very good, plenty of choice and well presented.
Outside areas cleaned daily and plenty of sunbeds in lovely located areas around the complex.
It looks very "Grand" and did make us feel like that, but in a very friendly way. The location was perfect for us but may be difficult for less mobile people as it is set on an incline and does have quite a few steps within the hotel. Will we go back? Oh yes ...........definitely!!

We had a great holiday, the entertainment was thoroughly enjoyable, and Greta from the animation team was very friendly, hard working and fun to be around, she made the stay even more enjoyable. The only down side was that there were no family apartments, not even interconnecting rooms, and like many hotels they don't provide double beds. There were also hidden extras, such as wifi was chargeable on either a daily or weekly rate. This was a charge per device and as there were four of us could have cost €76 for the week. There were no accessible sockets to charge mobile phones etc, and there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The fridge was only available at an extra cost. Having said that, overall the stay was thoroughly enjoyable, and the staff were friendly and hard working. I would recommend it.

Great hotel the staff are very friendly and efficient. The rooms are spacious and bright. The rooms were cleaned everyday. The food was very good. Lots of fresh fish and meat. However not much for vegetarians but if you are happy with salads simple vegetables then r plenty. The entertainment was excellent through out the day was catered for children and adults. Nighttime entertainment was excellent too. U didn't need to go out of the hotel to find the shows. However it would have been nice if it was all inclusive as the drinks r a bit expensive. The rooms could with power points to charge ur phone and a kettle for tea.
