“needs some improvements”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

I am a bit sad to say that the hotel needs updateing, television are old and bulky .Sunbeds need mattress on them ,because it says it is 5 star and all 5 star hotel have mattress on sunbed. The hotel needs painting. The happy hour needs to be sorted out instead of it being 6.30 to 7.30,it should be 9to 10 ,as this would keep people in hotel to watch eveing entertainment whereas at the moment people go out as the drinks are a bit expensive. The entertainment is not as good as it use to be .while we was there we enjoyed comedy elvis and the opera singers other than that the entertainment was poor. When we first arrived we where given a terrible room on ground floor wich over looked the pool it smelt really bad the room was 1017 avoid this room at all cost.I emailed the hotel before hand and did not get the room I wanted. But the next day we was moved to really nice room .The reception staff were really lovely .All the staff are lovely and can not do enough for you .The food was really nice its just little bit that their need to sort out like entertainment sunbeds and painting hotel .we went for weeks end of September and the weather was fab!! .Went for lovely walks down to Bahia del duque and browse around the shopping centre near the hotel is a one euro bar san eugenes bar is really good, harriett tea room is nice and if you sleep in and miss breakfast sunset harbour is really nice for breakfast papgayou is a really nice bar and it is lovely down at the safari shopping centre near the singing fountain is really nice their are lots of little bar restaraunts down there.Ijust hope their do the hotel up a bit

Room Tip: avoid room1017 at all cost

We stayed from 27th sept to 4th oct. I had emailed in advance for a room overlooking the pool which we received. It was nearer the road and could hear some very dodgy karaoke until all hours. Tho once the balcony door was closed and air con on this did not disturb us.
The staff at the hotel are lovely and friendly. The maids do an exceptional job. The rooms were always spotless and clean towels everyday. Only downside to the room was there is only one plug socket and its in the bathroom.
The tv has English channels 1-5 which was nice if having a quieter nite.
Having to pay for the safe, fridge and wifi was expensive. But wifi coverage was good all over the hotel.
The restaurant staff were very friendly and always quick to tidy away any unused plates. The only downside was the lack of vegetarian options. Very day dinner consisted of potatoes and pasta for me. But my partner loved the variety of mains available and was often stuck for choice.
The pools are lovely and clean and the top 2 pools are really quiet and get a nice breeze from the hot sun! Overall the hotel was good. Wouldn't say 5 star as a bit tatty round the edges. The location of the hotel is great and lots of nice bars and restaurants near by. Would possibly return again a few improvements could be made to get its 5star rating.

had a lovely stay at the bahia princess. beautiful hotel, spotlessly clean and staff were courteous & polite. stayed in a 2nd floor room overlooking the pool initially which was fine but had emailed before hand for a high level room so was a liitle disapponted but after a chat with one of the reception staff were able to move to a 4th floor room half way through the holiday which was great. we are thinking of returning in the new year, something we have never done before so must be have been good.

Room Tip: ask for a high level room overlooking the pool

We visited the hotel for the first time in 2007 with our teenage daughters, the food, evening entertainment and daytime activites were excellent and therefore decided to return in 2008 and again in 2010. We have just returned from our 2013 holiday and we are sad to report a rapid decline. Whilst the actual hotel (Rooms, swimming pools etc) are still aesthetically pleasing, the entertaiment has been reduced from acts sutch as irish riverdance and chinese acrobats to the same old tribute acts who think they can sing. There is no variation in the type of acts and to be honest we came accross better singers in the local karaoke bar. Whre do I start with the food? What used to be 5 star quality has been reduced to less than 3 star, the same thing dished up every evening, which, quite honestly was reminiscent of the all inclusive slop we once experienced when the girls were young. There is no longer any service in the restaurant and chicken nougetts and chips appeared on the breakfast buffet!!! The entertainment team seemed to be very inexperienced and a different person popped up each day so no opportunity to build up a rapport. Our return flight home was in the evening therefore, we were offered a picnic on day of departure, we ordered the previous day and was advised to collect from the restaurant at breakfast time which meant it would be in 26 degree heat for almost 9 hours, when I mentioned this to the receptionist she was a little offhand. All off that said the rooms and general cleanliness of the hotel, pool and bra areas was excellent.
All in all we were really dissapointed with our recent visit to the Bahia Princess and sad to say that we will not be returning.

we had booked this hotel for a weeks stay beginning of October with our 2 year old son. My partner struggled to the reception desk with our 3 cases and hand luggage whilst I carried in our son to be watched by the hotel reception staff who offered no assistance. We collected our keys and where given verbal directions to our room and advised our cases etc would follow. We found our room that had twin beds and a single bed in the room which left it tight for space. We were originally appointed room 4011 which overlooked the restaurant roof and facing the entertainment/ball room. when we booked with Thompson we asked for a high level quiet room. The bathroom was also on the small size but he the worst thing was the shower was over the bath with a fixed glass shower screen that took up half the length of the bath At the plug end so when you wanted a bath you had to virtually climb in to put in the plug, but difficulties happened when bathing our son he would go to this end of the bath out of our reach to us because of the glass shower screen and again we had to climb in in order to lift him out so it certainly wasn't child or even adult friendly. The first night we went to bed at 9.30 as we had been up since 3.30am for traveling but the entertainment had started and was so loud I could make out every word in each song. I tried to settle but after an hour of listening to it I had to go to reception and ask to be moved. I was given a key of room 426 and was given directions to view it. when I found it myself and went in it was identical to our original room but had a larger balcony but was totally silent inside with no music to be heard. I agreed to move with reception the following morning after breakfast. we went to reception to get our new room key to be told it would be after 12 midday which wasn't what I had agreed the night before and as the room was a vacant I couldn't understand why. We returned at12 to get the key and we moved rooms. It was certainly a lot quieter as far a music was concerned, the only other noise was the air conditioning which was noisy and not very affective in the previous room either. The buffet food was fine with a good selection and although we were half board we ate out 6 nights. We found a beautiful restaurant called Carlos which is definitely worth a visit we went on 3 occasions. the staff were always helpful but the hotel needs updated and we will not be returning to it. It doesn't warrant the 5star Thompson rating that they advertise.

Room Tip: Ensure to get a room in the main hotel block and not in the surrounding annexes.

My Wife and I have just returned from a 7 night stay at this great 4 star hotel. The hotel is in a good location and there is a very relaxed atmosphere. The food was always good, fresh and hot and always a good selection. There are three pools all of which were spotless and there are loads of sunbeds, why some of the Brits need to reserve them with thier towels is a mystery as there where always plenty to spare. Maybe it has something to do with thier childhood. The drinks are expensive, a Gin and Tonic 6.20 euro, but I can't knock the quality or the measure. Some of the entertainment was good some poor. By far the highlight of this hotel is the service both in the restaurant and the bars well done to all of the staff.

Nothing is perfect and there are one or two improvements that need to be made the first being the bath towels, they are so thin you can see through them and I do not think that there should be an extra charge for the fridge in the room.

We would definitly return to this hotel or any of the other Princess hotels.

My final word is to Thomson Holidays, why do you rate this as a 5 star hotel when it is officially rated as 4 star. How are we expected to distinguish berween the two if you keep fiddling with the ratings, don't you know the difference between 4 and 5 star?

Booked this hotel after recommendation from friends and it did not disappoint. Had a quiet room overlooking the sunbathing deck/pool. This was kept immaculate by a very unobtrusive maid, we only saw her a couple of times. Upside of this room - just seconds from our sun loungers so could nip back whenever we wanted. Downside - not a lot of privacy as guests on their sun beds could look straight into our room! Net curtains would help. Food was very good in fact we were often spoilt for choice. I normally only put on a couple of pounds in weight but this time (the desserts were very moreish) I gained nearer five pounds! The many steps around the hotel nearly defeated me but the warnings were there in other reviews. All in all a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the pool.
