“OK, but not up to a RIU”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

Spent a week here in indifferent weather. The hotel is clean, well laid out, though for the fit as there are a lot of stairs (though lifts are available). The room was clean & spacious, the bathroom had a very powerful shower, though the extractor didn’t work. Take slippers/footwear, as the marble floors can be cold. Room cleaning was a bit random, from anytime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., so be prepared. We had a balcony in the shade, which was OK as it was quiet, unlike some rooms overlooking the busy road. The pool areas have plenty of sunbeds and several elevated terraces that catch the sun, though the hotel very cheekily charges over a Euro if you want to change your pool towel! To be fair, they were changed by the maid once during the week without request. Food in the cafeteria (restaurant is rather a grand title as it feels more like a canteen) offers a wide variety, though we have to say the watchwords are quantity rather than quality. The food is very bland and after a few days seems even blander, though we did hear others say they thought it was excellent (each to their own). Drinks, as in all hotels, tend to be on the expensive side. The best bet is to have a bottle of wine over a couple of nights, even though, unlike some other Spanish hotels, you have to take it back to the room as they won’t keep it for you. The evening entertainment was OK, if a bit dated. The promenade is a short walk away – head South towards Playa de Las Americas and you’ll be pestered by restaurant and bar owners all the way. Head North for a much quieter and more scenic walk, with a few more upmarket restaurants and a nice shopping area in quaint twisting streets. If we went back to Tenerife, it would probably be to a RIU, which leaves the Princess chain trailing in it’s wake.

The hotel is spacious, clean and tidy. The staff are friendly. The bedroom was adequate but noisy, being situated at the front of the hotel on a busy road where the traffic continues all night. The towels in the bathroom are definitely not fluffy but there is always plenty of hot water and the shower is good, although over the bath and possibly not suitable for everyone. The food is plentiful and there is a good choice but the dining room atmosphere is not condusive to lingering over a meal. The dining room is next to the swimming pool and the only access is exposed to the elements. If you are unlucky and have a rainy week, as we did, you either have to get wet or wear waterproofs! The entertainment is very 1960's and didn't appeal to us at all. A short walk from the hotel brings you to a promenade; turn left and you are immediately in amongst hoardes of people and tatty shops and restaurants, turn right and it is more peaceful. A 40 minute walk this way takes you to La Caletta, a fishing village with excellent restaurants. The old town of Adeje is a short bus ride away and worth a visit if only for the patisserie run by two delightful Spanish ladies. I would say there is not enough to do in this resort if the sun fails to shine.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms facing the main road if possible.

We stayed here at the mid February and what a find. Lovely well situated hotel yet close to amenities. Excellent choices of food and a friendly willing staff. We decided we would like to return next year. One criticism, that awful watered-down orange juice, more like a cheap orange squash.
Oh! I did e-mail a request for a room overlooking the pool area but got one as far from it as was possible, it didn't spoil it for us though.

Room Tip: Just enjoy it

We stayed Half Board from Jan 26th for 1 week. Just could not find any fault with this hotel yet again. Food excellent, the rooms very comfortable and the staff very friendly. The location of this hotel is great, It's in a quiet location but there are plenty of bars etc. not too far away. It's 10 years since we stayed here, and I must say that the hotel has been very well looked after, it still looked new. We hope to return again some time.

Just back from a week here, lovely hotel even better than we thought it would be!!! The staff are very friendly and provide an excellent service, the entire hotel and outdoors was immaculate. We would definitely go back again.
We had a lovely relaxing week – no problems fighting for sun loungers or finding a sunny spot by the pools.
The food was typical Spanish hotel buffet food – you could always get rice, pasta, chips and veg etc (still lovely) and all freshly cooked. I would recommend heading down before 7:30 to get seated straight away. Their ice creams are the best I have ever tasted and for breakfast you can help yourself to either a healthy option (fruit , cereals etc) or to a full English.
We were on the first floor facing the road we were slightly worried about the noise however it wasn’t a problem the only issue was from inside the hotel (could hear people in the corridors and next door slightly).
My only issue was that the main pool (heated in winter) could have been warmer :) the other two were too cold to be in.

Room Tip: We stayed in 113 - facing the road but you can see teide lovely large room, double balcony and with...

Lovely Hotel, with good food, though lacking in variety. Serving Staff very attentive and friendly, rooms and pool area clean and well maintained. Costa Adeje is a very nice resort, but the beaches are poor, a mixture of sand and volcanic dust which gives them a muddy appearance. The hotel lets its self down by penny pinching. There is a fridge/mini bar in the rooms, working but locked. If you want to use it it is 4 euro's a day, 1.5 euro's a day for the safe, which is normal and 6 euro's a day for Wifi. Drinks are a little expensive, but all in all a pretty good hotel.

We recently stayed here for a week, having previously stayed here about 4 years ago. The hotel has managed to maintain its high standards. It's very clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, and our room was excellent. There is plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner, and food was always plentiful. I'm sure if we had stayed much longer, our waistlines would have seriously suffered! Yes you have to pay extra for the safe, but this is common in Spanish hotels. We did not bother with the fridge. There is entertainment in the day, which you can join, and the evening entertainment was variable, but its a hotel, you won't get a west end show! There are plenty of bars and restaurants around, so lots to explore outside the hotel. We were very happy with our return visit, and the lovely weather, and would be more than happy to visit again.
