What a fabulous week we had in this stunning hotel, it is an oasis! This could have been a difficult week, as for the first time I had taken my 80 year old parents with me on my annual visit to Tenerife. They were in need of some Rest and this hotel was perfect.
The setting: Simply stunning, beautiful gardens, pool area, waterfalls, sun beds- plenty, though some of the old dears do like to stake their pitch a little early as they pass by on their way to breakfast but it really wasn't a problem, just amusing to watch!
The staff : everyone has already said it, nothing is too much to ask. From reception on arrival, the porters who deliver your luggage and show you the layout of hotel, the maids who keep rooms spotless, the restaurant staff, the bar staff, the pool staff, the lifeguard who plays with the children and teaches them to swim, the masseuse ( Francesco) each and everyone of them are very much part of a highly trained team and have customer service at the forefront of everything they do. One morning when my mother was not so well and didn't go down for breakfast they sent coffee and tea to the room with pastries, no charge and then public relations rang twice over the next two days to make sure she was ok.
The rooms: my parents had a garden view room ( masca 117) which was ground floor, perfect, two sun beds are allocated outside your patio which was great. Our room was a standard in G321, a different block but still very handy for parents, just as I had requested. Our balcony also had two chairs and two sun beds, it was side facing but we could also see the sea, we were very happy with the standard of comfort for a standard room. If anything the beds were a little hard for me but I realise now I could have asked for a mattress topper.
The food: no complaints at all, we were booked bed and breakfast only as we do like to stroll out to eat at night. The breakfast had everything you could wish for, eggs, bacon cooked freshly, every possible flavour of juice and smoothie and even champagne for those that can drink it that early! There wasn't anything missing and it reminded me of the type of selection you get on cruises. We ate in the buffet restaurant on one evening and again the selection was very good but I think if you were half board it might get a little boring every night but the quality was very good. On our last evening because of an early start we booked a table in the poolside restaurant and this was excellent, we had a range of tapas which were lovely and the setting by the water is beautiful.
Our 5am departure was no problem, our coffee and croissant were delivered at 4am, no charge, and our luggage collected at 4.45am absolutely spot on.
If I can afford it I would love to go again in October but if not we will definitely book again for next February. Having always booked luxury villas in tenerife this was a real change for us and one we will do again. I loved being able to walk out and enjoy everything Tenerife has to offer from the high class del duque area on the right to the slightly tacky fanabe area on the left but most of all it was lovely to return to this oasis everyday and just chill! As for the parents first visit to Tenerife they were left with wonderful memories of an excellent hotel and staff who cared.
